We bring you last week's top performances from Poles who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is former international guard David Logan (185-82, college: Indianapolis, currently plays in Euroleague). Logan was the major contributor in a Maccabi T-A's victory against the fifth-ranked Chalon/Saor (2-6) 78-73 in the Euroleague last Thursday. He scored 17 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Maccabi Electra Tel-Aviv (6-2) is placed first in group B. There are only two games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Logan's first season with the team. Logan has relatively good stats this year: 10.5ppg, 2.3rpg, 1.1apg, 2FGP: 53.6%, 3FGP: 41.7% and FT: 64.3%. He is a naturalized American. Logan played for the Polish senior national team three years ago. He used to play for WTK Anwil Wloclawek in Polish league.

   #2. Second place goes to an international center Marcin Gortat (211-84, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA. Gortat could not help the Phoenix Suns (7-10) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Phoenix Suns were edged 104-101 on the road by the Philadelphia 76ers. Gortat was the second best scorer with 18 points. He also added 7 rebounds in 26 minutes. But the season just started, so everything may happen. Gortat has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 11.4ppg, 8.2rpg, 2.2bpg, 2FGP: 52.6% and FT: 69.0% in the 17 games he played so far. Gortat is in the roster of the Polish senior national team.

   #3. The Polish player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward Maciej Lampe (211-85, currently plays in Euroleague). He led his Spanish team Caja Laboral to a 2-point victory against the fourth-ranked Armani Milano (3-5) 64-62 in the Euroleague in Thursday night's game. Lampe recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 12 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks. Caja Laboral Vitoria (2-6) is placed sixth in group C. They ended the series of four consecutive loses. There are only two games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This season Lampe has relatively solid stats: 10.8ppg, 5.1rpg, 2FGP: 44.8% and FT: 72.7%. He has a dual citizenship: Polish and Swedish. Lampe is also a member of the Polish senior national team.

Swingman Thomas Kelati (195-82, agency: Beo Basket, college: Washington St., currently plays in Spain) led Valencia Basket to a 3-point victory against the tenth-ranked Regal FC Barcelona (5-4) 81-78 in the Spanish ACB last Sunday. He scored 15 points in 26 minutes. It was his first game for Valencia Basket this season. His team is placed third in the ACB. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. Kelati is another player who holds two passports: Eritrean and Polish. He is also Polish national team player.

International forward Michal Ignerski (207-80, agency: Stanley International, college: Mississippi St., currently plays in Italy) led Banco di Sardegna Sassari to a 2-point victory against the league outsider Vanoli Cremona (2-7) 80-78 in the Italian SerieA on Sunday night. Ignerski recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 11 rebounds. Banco di Sardegna Sassari (7-2) is placed second in the SerieA. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. Ignerski has reliable stats this season: 13.4ppg and 5.8rpg. He plays currently for the Polish national team.

Power forward Jakub Wojciechowski (210-90, currently plays in Italy) led Torino to a 3-point victory over the 15th-ranked Mazzeo San Severo (4-8) 78-75 in the Italian Nazionale A (third division) last Sunday. Wojciechowski was MVP of the game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 17 rebounds. PMS Torino (10-2) is placed second in the Nazionale A. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. This season Wojciechowski has very high stats. He averages: 16.4ppg, 8.9rpg and 1.1spg. Wojciechowski is an international player who is currently on the senior Polish National Team roster.

An experienced former international center Michal Hlebowicki (204-76, currently plays in Latvia) led Jekabpils to a 1-point victory against the closely-ranked Jelgava (4-5) 104-103 in the Latvian LBL on Sunday night. He scored 14 points, had 7 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 25 minutes. BK Jekabpils (5-6) is placed sixth in the LBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Hlebowicki's overall stats are: 7.4ppg and 5.8rpg in the 11 games. He used to play for the Polish national team ten years ago.

Center Przemyslaw Karnowski (216-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) led Gonzaga to an easy victory against the Lewis-Clark State College (4-5) crushing them 104-57 in the NCAA in Thursday night's game. Karnowski scored 16 points, had 6 rebounds and made 2 blocks. The Gonzaga University has conference record this season. Karnowski's total stats this year are: 7.4ppg and 5.8rpg. He plays currently for the Polish national team.

   #9. International center Szymon Szewczyk (209-82, currently plays in Italy) was not able to help Umana Venezia (3-6) in their game against Angelico Biella (3-6) in the Italian SerieA. Szewczyk scored 7 points and blocked 2 blocks in 21 minutes. Umana Venezia lost 59-68 in Biella to the higher-ranked (#11) Angelico. This year Szewczyk's total stats are: 7.3ppg and 4.7rpg in the seven games. He is also in the roster of the Polish national team.

Center Cezary Trybanski (218-79, currently plays in Lithuania), who plays in the Lithuanian NKL (second division) was not able to secure a victory for Dzukija (11-4) in their last game on Friday. Despite Trybanski's good performance the league leader Dzukija was defeated 77-71 in Vilnius by the much lower-ranked S.Marciulionio (#9). He scored 13 points, had 9 rebounds and made 5 blocks. Trybanski is the league's best rebounder and also on the list of best blockers (first place). He has very reliable stats this season: 11.7ppg, 10.6rpg and 3.8bpg. Trybanski is a former international player as eleven years ago he still played for the Polish senior national team.

   #11. Former U20 international forward Karol Gruszecki (196-89, currently studies in the States) led Texas Arlington to a victory against the University of North Texas 72-59 in the NCAA in Wednesday night's game. He scored 17 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 31 minutes. Gruszecki averaged so far 11.7ppg, 10.6rpg and 3.8bpg in the 14 games. He used to play for the Polish U20 national team four years ago.

   #12. Former U18 international center Pawel Mroz (215-84, currently plays in Czech Republic), who plays in the Czech Republic NBL couldn't help Basketbal Svitavy (3-10) in their last game. Despite Mroz's good performance Basketbal Svitavy was crushed 93-55 in Nymburk by the leading CEZ Nymburk. He was the second best scorer with 10 points. Mroz also added 9 rebounds in 28 minutes. Mroz averaged so far 10.3ppg, 6.4rpg and 1.1apg in the 12 games. He used to play for the Polish U18 national team back in 2002.

   #13. U20 international forward Tomasz Gielo (206-93, is currently at the American university), who plays in the NCAA couldn't help the Liberty in their last game on Thursday. Despite Gielo's good performance the Liberty was defeated 67-62 at home by the Morgan State University. He scored 11 points. Gielo's stats this season are: 10.3ppg, 6.4rpg and 1.1apg. He is also Polish U20 national team player.

   #14. Former U20 international forward Olek Czyz (200-90, agency: Priority Sports, college: Nevada, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help Lottomatica Roma in their game against SAIE3 BO in the Italian SerieA. Czyz cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 1 points in 8 minutes on the court. His team lost 79-85. Czyz has averaged so far 7.2ppg and 3.8rpg in the nine games. He used to play for the Polish U20 national team back in 2010.

   #15. Former U18 international center Szymon Lukasiak (208-87, college: Jacksonville, currently plays in Sweden), who plays in the Swedish Basketligan couldn't help Nassjo (2-12) in their last game on Friday. Despite Lukasiak's good performance the bottom-ranked Nassjo was edged 70-69 on their home court in Nassjo by the much higher-ranked Sodertalje Kings (#5). He was the second best scorer with 12 points. Lukasiak also added 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Lukasiak has averaged so far 8.7ppg and 5.6rpg. He used to play for the Polish U18 national team seven years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Polish passport but never been selected to any of Polish national teams:

   #1. Konrad Wysocki (201-F-82, agency: Pro One Sports, college: Princeton, currently plays in Germany) led EWE Baskets to a victory over the 11th-ranked Phoenix Hagen (4-6) crushing them 113-62 in the German BBL in Saturday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Wysocki had a double-double by scoring 23 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added and 4 steals in 31 minutes. EWE Baskets Oldenburg (7-3) is placed fourth in the BBL. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Wysocki's first year with the team. This season Wysocki averages: 9.1ppg and 4.1rpg in the 10 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Polish and German.

   #2. Vitaliy Kovalenko (203-F-84, currently plays in Ukraine), who plays in the Ukrainian Superleague could not help Khimik (11-4) in their last game. Despite Kovalenko's good performance Khimik lost 85-92 at home to the lower-ranked (#8) Cherkasy. He scored 11 points in 24 minutes. This year Kovalenko's overall stats are: 8.9ppg and 2.5rpg in the 15 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Polish and Ukrainian.

   #3. Dominik Malinowski (198-SG-91, currently plays in Germany) contributed to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked Hannover Tigers (4-5) crushing them 101-79 in the German ProB (third division) last Saturday. Malinowski scored 9 points and added 4 assists. SG Schwelmer Baskets (8-1) is placed first in Group North. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Malinowski has averaged so far 5.8ppg, 3.0rpg and 2.2apg. He has both Polish and German nationalities. Despite Malinowski's Polish passport, he previously played for the German U18 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Polish team.

   #4. Daniel Motyka (180-G-92, currently plays in Sweden) was the major contributor in an IK Eos' victory against the sixth-ranked Hoganas (4-5) crushing them 99-70 in the Swedish Basketettan (second division) in Saturday night's game. Motyka scored 15 points in a mere 18 minutes. IK Eos (9-0) is placed first in South group. So far his team won all nine games in the Regular Season. Motyka has averaged so far 7.0ppg and 1.7rpg in the nine games.

   #5. Jakub Kusmieruk (224-C-89, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to help the Idaho St. in their game against the Central Michigan University in the NCAA. He recorded 7 points and blocked 2 shots. The Idaho St. was edged 54-52 on the road by the Central Michigan University. Kusmieruk has averaged so far 7.0ppg and 1.7rpg.

   #6. He scored 5 points in 3 minutes. Mackiewicz has averaged so far 2.9ppg and 1.4rpg in the 17 games. He also holds two passports: Polish and Uruguayan.

Marek Olesinski (203-F, currently studies in the States) was not able to secure a victory for the one of league's weakest teams Air Force in their game against the University of Colorado in the NCAA. Olesinski cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 3 points. His team was defeated 89-74. Olesinski has averaged so far 2.9ppg and 1.4rpg. He is a naturalized American. Strangely Olesinski has never played in Poland.

   #8. Maciej Baginski (195-SF-95, currently plays in Iceland) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Fjolnir crushing them 92-67 in the Icelandic Dominos League last Thursday. He scored 6 points in 15 minutes. Baginski has averaged so far 6.4ppg and 3.3rpg in the eight games. He holds both Polish and Icelandic passports. Despite Baginski's Polish nationality, he currently plays for the Icelandic U18 national team and cannot be called to the Polish team.

   #9. Kamil Parzych (190-G, is currently at the American university) couldn't help the one of league's weakest teams Mansfield, PA in their game against the The University of Buffalo in the PSAC. Parzych cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 2 points. His team was badly defeated by 19 points 76-57 in the PSAC. Parzych has averaged so far 6.4ppg and 3.3rpg.
