The most interesting game of round 12 in the 1Liga was a home defeat of 3rd ranked Stal Ostrow (8-4) to second ranked AZS Kutno (9-3) 77-70 in the game for the second place. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 25-11 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Wojciech Glabas (207-90) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 6 rebounds and forward Jakub Dluski (200-87) who added 11 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was power forward Lukasz Olejnik (203-79) with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. AZS Kutno maintains second position with 9-3 record having just two points less than leader Slask Wroclaw. Newly promoted Stal Ostrow keeps the third place with four games lost. They share the position with MKS DG. AZS Kutno are looking forward to face WIKANA Start (#12) in Lublin in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Stal Ostrow will play on the road against AZS PP (#16) in Pozoan and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
Very significant was MKS DG's (#4) 89-82 road victory against 6th ranked Sokol Lancut. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Sokol Lancut. The winners were led by swingman Jakub Karolak (196-93) who scored that evening 29 points and Piotr Zielinski supported him with 17 points and 9 rebounds. MKS DG's coach Wojciech Wieczorek allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 12 points and 6 assists by guard Michal Baran (185-80) did not help to save the game for Sokol Lancut. MKS DG (8-4) moved-up to third place, which they share with Stal Ostrow. Sokol Lancut at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with MOSiR Krosno. MKS DG will play against Polonia (#8) in Przemysl in the next round where they are favorite. Sokol Lancut will play on the road against Znicz Basket in Pruszkow and hopes to get back on the winning track.
1Liga top team - Slask Wroclaw (11-1) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they crushed sixteenth ranked AZS PP (1-11) 107-61. The best player for the winners was Pawel Kikowski who scored 21 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Adam Metelski who recorded 16 points and 8 rebounds. They maintain first position with 11-1 record. AZS PP lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with 11 games lost. Slask Wroclaw will meet P.Cukier SIDEn (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. AZS PP will play against Stal Ostrow (#3) in Ostrow Wlkp..
A very interesting game took place in Lublin. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 15th ranked UMKS Kielce (3-9) to thirteenth ranked WIKANA Start (5-7) 79-77 on Wednesday evening. It was a good game for Tomasz Celej who led his team to a victory with 28 points and 7 rebounds. UMKS Kielce's coach Michal Spychala rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. WIKANA Start moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. UMKS Kielce lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifteenth position with nine games lost. WIKANA Start's next round opponent will be league's second-placed AZS Kutno on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. UMKS Kielce will play against SKK Siedlce (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game took place in Bydgoszcz where higher ranked P.Cukier SIDEn (6-6) was upset on the court of twelfth ranked Astoria Bydg. (5-7) 101-90 on Wednesday. Worth to mention a great performance of Mateusz Bierwagen who helped to win the game recording 28 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
