1Liga top team - Slask Wroclaw (12-1) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat ninth ranked P.Cukier SIDEn (6-7) in Torun 72-62. The game was mostly controlled by Slask Wroclaw. P.Cukier SIDEn managed to win second period 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Slask Wroclaw made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game, while P.Cukier SIDEn only scored six points from the stripe. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Slask Wroclaw made 8 blocks. 26 personal fouls committed by P.Cukier SIDEn helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Point guard Marcin Flieger (182-84, agency: Promotex) stepped up and scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners and the former international guard Pawel Kikowski (193-86, agency: Limelight Hoops) chipped in 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side power forward Adam Lisewski (206-80) responded with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Michal Baran (185-80) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists for Sokol Lancut in the defeat. Znicz Basket moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 4 other teams. Sokol Lancut at the other side keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Znicz Basket will play against higher ranked MKS DG (#4) in Dabrowa Gornicza in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sokol Lancut will play at home against UMKS Kielce and hopes to get back on the winning track.
AZS Radex (6-7) escaped against Astoria Bydg. (5-8) in overtime by five points 93-88 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Astoria Bydg.. Karol Pytys fired 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Mateusz Bierwagen produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. AZS Radex moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 4 other teams. Newly promoted Astoria Bydg. dropped to the twelfth position with eight games lost. They share it with SKK Siedlce and Start Lublin. AZS Radex will meet league's leader Slask Wroclaw on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Astoria Bydg. will play against MOSiR Krosno (#5) and hope to secure a win.
15th ranked UMKS Kielce (3-10) was outscored at home by fourteenth ranked SKK Siedlce (5-8) with the biggest margin this round 83-47. Worth to mention a great performance of Radoslaw Basinski who helped to win the game recording 10 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. SKK Siedlce moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Astoria Bydg. and Start Lublin. UMKS Kielce lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fifteenth position with ten games lost. SKK Siedlce's next round opponent will be league's second-placed AZS Kutno at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. UMKS Kielce will play against Sokol Lancut (#6).

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 13: Spojnia was destroyed by MOSiR Krosno on the opponent's court 85-64. AZS Kutno outscored Start Lublin in a home game 89-59. Stal Ostrow rolled over AZS PP on the road 104-72. MKS DG defeated Polonia on its own court 82-69.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks by Adam Metelski of AZS PP.


MOSiR Krosno - Spojnia 85-64

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Spojnia (6-7) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked MOSiR Krosno (8-5) 85-64. The game was mostly controlled by MOSiR Krosno. Spojnia was better in second period 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. MOSiR Krosno players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Marcin Salamonik (202-83) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 7 rebounds. point guard Dariusz Oczkowicz (183-81) contributed with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. MOSiR Krosno's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. point guard Kamil Michalski (183-87, agency: Promotex) answered with 10 points and 6 assists and guard Adam Parzych (190-86, college: Bryant, agency: Promotex) added 13 points (made all of his seven free throws) in the effort for Spojnia. Znicz Basket - Sokol Lancut 93-89 OT

Znicz Basket (6-7) outlasted Sokol Lancut (7-6) in overtime by four points 93-89. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Sokol Lancut won third quarter 24-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Sokol Lancut used huge pressure winning it 21-19 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 7-11. Sokol Lancut was plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Przemyslaw Szymanski (198-84) nailed 23 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals for the winning side and swingman Marcin Matuszewski (194-82) accounted for 17 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Michal Baran (185-80) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and center Maciej Klima (205-82) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Sokol Lancut in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Znicz Basket moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 4 other teams. Sokol Lancut at the other side keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Everything went according to plan in Dabrowa Gornicza where fourth ranked MKS DG (9-4) beat 8th ranked Polonia (6-7) 82-69. It looked good early as Polonia took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then MKS DG had a 25-13 second period charge getting the lead and Polonia was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-82. MKS DG made 18-of-22 charity shots (81.8 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for swingman Marek Piechowicz (203-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Pawel Zmarlak (195-82) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four MKS DG players scored in double figures. The former international guard Grzegorz Kukielka (192-83, agency: Promotex) answered with 11 points and 9 rebounds and center Dariusz Wyka (207-91) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Polonia. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for MKS DG. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Stal Ostrow. Polonia at the other side dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. MKS DG's next round opponent will be Znicz Basket (#9) in Pruszkow which should be theoretically an easy game. Polonia will play at home against Spojnia in Stargard and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
