Forward Adam Kaczmarzyk (198-F-88) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Stal Ostrow, receiving a Eurobasket.com 1Liga Player of the Week award for round 13. The 24-year old player was the main contributor (23 points, five rebounds) to his team's victory, helping them to outclass AZS PP (#16, 1-12) with 32-point margin 104-72. Stal Ostrow maintains the 3rd position in Polish 1Liga. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Stal Ostrow will need more victories to improve their 9-4 record. In the team's last game Kaczmarzyk had a remarkable 100.0% from 2-point range. It was one of impressive evenings for him as usually he does not deliver so high stats. Adam Kaczmarzyk averages this season 6.8ppg.
The second best player in last round's games was 29-year old Adam Metelski (208-C-83) of AZS PP. Metelski had a very good evening with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as AZS PP lost that game 72-104 to the higher-ranked Stal Ostrow (#3, 9-4). AZS PP are still at the very bottom. 12 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory AZS PP managed to get this year. Metelski is a newcomer at AZS PP, but is already one of team's top players.
Third on the list of top players last round was center Karol Pytys (202-C-85) of AZS Radex (#8). Pytys scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds. He was a key player of AZS Radex, leading his team to a 93-88overtime win against the lower-ranked Astoria Bydg. (#14, 5-8). The chances of AZS Radex ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 7 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Pytys could help AZS Radex to bring them higher in the standings. Pytys has a very solid season. In 12 games in Poland he scored 7.3ppg. He also has 5.3rpg and FGP: 61.1%.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Lukasz Pacocha (182-PG-82) of AZS Radex - 28 points and 4 assists 5. Marek Piechowicz (203-G/F-88) of MKS DG - 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists 6. Wojciech Szawarski (195-F-76) of Stal Ostrow - 19 points and 6 rebounds 9. Pawel Lewandowski (186-G-83) of Astoria Bydg. - 15 points, 4 rebounds and 11 assists 10. Dariusz Oczkowicz (183-PG-81) of MOSiR Krosno - 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists
The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
