We bring you last week's top performances from Poles who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international swingman Thomas Kelati (195-82, agency: Beo Basket, college: Washington St., currently plays in Spain). He led Valencia Basket to a victory over the 12th-ranked FIATC Joventut (6-7) crushing them 107-75 in the Spanish ACB in Sunday night's game. Kelati was MVP of the game. He scored 26 points (!!!) in 21 minutes on the court. Valencia Basket (9-4) is placed third in the ACB. It's Kelati's first season with the team. Kelati has relatively good stats this year: 12.2ppg, 2.2rpg, 1.4apg, 1.4spg and FT: 87.5% in the five games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Eritrean and Polish. Ex-BOT Turow Zgorzelec player is currently a member of the Polish senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international power forward Maciej Lampe (211-85, currently plays in Spain). Lampe was the main contributor in a Caja Laboral's victory against the 11th-ranked Blancos de Rueda (6-7) crushing them 93-71 in the Spanish ACB last Wednesday. He was the best player in that game. Lampe recorded 19 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Caja Laboral Vitoria (10-3) is placed second in the ACB. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This season Lampe has relatively solid stats: 11.4ppg, 5.0rpg, 2FGP: 54.8%, 3FGP: 29.4% and FT: 90.5%(19-21). He is another player who holds two passports: Polish and Swedish. Lampe is in the roster of the Polish senior national team.

   #3. The Polish player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Marcin Gortat (211-84, currently plays in NBA). He contributed to a Phoenix Suns' victory against the Sacramento Kings (8-18) 101-90 in the NBA on Monday night. Gortat had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added 6 blocks in 33 minutes. The Phoenix Suns have 11-15 record this season. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Gortat has reliable stats this year: 11.0ppg, 8.3rpg, 1.2apg, 2.1bpg, 2FGP: 51.9% and FT: 69.4% in the 26 games. He is also a member of the Polish senior national team.

Center Pawel Mroz (215-84, currently plays in Czech Republic) helped Basketbal Svitavy win their game against the closely-ranked USK Praha (7-11) 97-81 in the Czech Republic NBL in Saturday night's game. Mroz was the top player that evening. He recorded a double-double by scoring 28 points and getting 14 rebounds. Mroz also added 4 blocks. Turi Svitavy (6-11) is placed 11th in the NBL. Mroz's stats this season are: 12.5ppg, 6.9rpg and 1.3apg. He used to play for the Polish U18 national team back in 2002.

An experienced former international center Cezary Trybanski (218-79, currently plays in Lithuania) helped Dzukija win their game against the ninth-ranked S.Marciulionio (11-10) 94-85 in the Lithuanian NKL (second division) in Sunday night's game. Trybanski was the top player that evening. He scored 21 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 33 minutes. Dzukija Alytus (16-5) is placed second in the NKL. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Trybanski is the league's best rebounder and also on the list of best blockers (first place). He has very reliable stats this year: 12.3ppg, 10.8rpg and 3.3bpg in the 20 games. Trybanski used to play for the Polish national team eleven years ago.

   #6. Center Michal Hlebowicki (204-76, currently plays in Latvia) helped Jekabpils win their game against the league leader Valmiera (11-5) 83-70 in the Latvian LBL on Wednesday night. He scored 8 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 20 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. BK Jekabpils (9-7) is placed second in the LBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Hlebowicki is currently fifth on the league's list of best blockers with 0.9bpg. This year his other stats are: 7.9ppg and 5.9rpg in the 16 games. Hlebowicki is a former international player as he played for the Polish senior team ten years ago.

U20 international forward Tomasz Gielo (206-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) helped Liberty win their game against the Milligan College (11-5) 81-63 in the NCAA in Friday night's game. He recorded 9 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. The Liberty University has conference record this season. Gielo's overall stats this year are: 7.9ppg and 5.9rpg. He is also Polish U20 national team player.

   #8. Center Przemyslaw Karnowski (216-93, currently studies in the States) helped Gonzaga win their game against the Campbell University crushing them 74-52 in the NCAA last Wednesday. Karnowski scored 14 points in 20 minutes. The Gonzaga University has conference record this season. This year Karnowski's overall stats are: 7.9ppg and 5.9rpg in the 16 games. He plays currently for the Polish national team.

Former U18 international center Szymon Lukasiak (208-87, college: Jacksonville, currently plays in Sweden), who plays in the Swedish Basketligan could not help Nassjo (3-15) in their last game on Friday. Despite Lukasiak's very good performance the bottom-ranked Nassjo was defeated 94-79 at home by the higher-ranked 08 Stockholm (#7). He was the second best scorer with 16 points. Lukasiak also added 4 rebounds. Lukasiak's total stats this season are: 8.9ppg and 5.6rpg. He used to play for the Polish U18 national team seven years ago.

   #1. Konrad Wysocki (201-F-82, agency: Pro One Sports, college: Princeton, currently plays in Germany) contributed to a EWE Baskets' victory against the closely-ranked ALBA Berlin (10-3) 89-81 in the German BBL last Friday. Wysocki scored 9 points in only 11 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. EWE Baskets Oldenburg (11-5) is placed second in the BBL. This year Wysocki averages: 8.1ppg and 3.6rpg in the 14 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Polish and German.

   #2. Vitaliy Kovalenko (203-F-84, currently plays in Ukraine), who plays in the Ukrainian Superleague could not help Khimik (12-7) to beat Hoverla (12-10). Kovalenko scored 9 points. But Khimik was crushed 92-65 on the road by the lower-ranked Hoverla (#5). Kovalenko's overall stats this season are: 8.2ppg and 2.2rpg. He is another player who holds two passports: Polish and Ukrainian.

   #3. Robert Lewandowski (208-F-89, college: Texas Tech, currently plays in Czech Republic), who plays in the Czech Republic NBL was not able to help BK Usti nad Labem (3-14) in their last game on Thursday. Despite his very good performance the bottom-ranked BK Usti nad Labem was crushed 97-61 in Nymburk by the leading CEZ Nymburk. Lewandowski was the top scorer with 20 points. He also added 6 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Lewandowski averaged so far 14.0ppg, 6.0rpg and 2.5apg. He is a naturalized American. Lewandowski used to play for PGE Turow Zgorzelec in Polish league.

   #4. Daniel Motyka (180-G-92, currently plays in Sweden) helped IK Eos win their game against the tenth-ranked Talje Knights (4-6) 114-101 in the Swedish Basketettan (second division) in Saturday night's game. Motyka scored 8 points in 15 minutes. IK Eos (12-0) is placed first in South group. So far his team won all twelve games in the Regular Season. This year Motyka's total stats are: 6.7ppg and 1.6rpg in the 12 games.

   #5. Patryk Bajtus (206-C-91, currently plays in Portugal) managed to help Barcelos Hotel Terco to win in overtime against the ninth-ranked Lusitania (1-6) 81-80 in the Portuguese LPB last Saturday. He scored only 2 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Barcelos Hotel Terco (0-1) is placed in the LPB. Bajtus' total stats this season are: 3.3ppg and 2.7rpg.

   #6. Anatoliy Shundel (190-PG-93, currently plays in Ukraine) helped Mykolaiv win their game against the league outsider BC Kyiv 76-63 in the Ukrainian Superleague on Friday night. He recorded only 1 points. This year Shundel averages just 0.5ppg in the 10 games.

SLUNETA Usti nad Labem (NBL) strengthened their roster with addition of 32-year old Polish center Pawel Mroz (214-115kg-84). He played most recently at Slask Wroclaw in Polish 1Liga.
