Here is the weekly review of the top performing Polish players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Marcin Gortat (211-84, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA. He could not help the Phoenix Suns (12-22) in their last game. Despite Gortat's very good performance the Phoenix Suns lost 80-87 at home to the Utah Jazz. He had a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 11 rebounds. Gortat also added 3 blocks in 40 minutes on the court. Gortat has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 11.5ppg, 8.6rpg, 1.2apg, 1.9bpg, 2FGP: 54.4% and FT: 70.4% in the 34 games he played so far. Gortat is currently a member of the Polish senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international swingman Thomas Kelati (195-82, agency: Beo Basket, college: Washington St., currently plays in Spain). He led Valencia Basket to an easy victory against the tenth-ranked Unicaja Malaga (8-7) 82-64 in the Spanish ACB last Sunday. Kelati scored 11 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists. Valencia Basket (11-4) is placed third in the ACB. Kelati has relatively good stats this season: 10.6ppg, 2.3rpg, 1.6apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 61.9%(13-21), 3FGP: 38.2%. He has a dual citizenship: Eritrean and Polish. Ex-BOT Turow Zgorzelec player is in the roster of the Polish senior national team.

   #3. The Polish player who performed third best last week abroad was former international guard David Logan (185-82, college: Indianapolis, currently plays in Israel). Logan led Maccabi T-A to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked Bnei Hasharon (4-7) crushing them 113-85 in the Israeli Winner League on Sunday night. He scored 12 points in 24 minutes. Maccabi Electra Tel-Aviv (10-1) is placed first in the Winner League. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. This year Logan has relatively solid stats: 11.2ppg, 2.0rpg, 2.1apg, 2FGP: 61.9%(26-42), 3FGP: 39.2% and FT: 68.8% in the 11 games. He is a naturalized American. Logan played for the Polish national team four years ago. He used to play for WTK Anwil Wloclawek in Polish league.

Power forward Maciej Lampe (211-85, currently plays in Spain) contributed to a Caja Laboral's victory against the 15th-ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (4-11) 84-77 in the Spanish ACB last Sunday. He scored 8 points in 28 minutes. Caja Laboral Vitoria (12-3) is placed second in the ACB. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Lampe has reliable stats this year: 11.6ppg and 4.9rpg in the 15 games. He is another player who holds two passports: Polish and Swedish. Lampe is also Polish national team player.

Former U20 international forward Olek Czyz (200-90, agency: Priority Sports, college: Nevada, currently plays in Italy) helped Lottomatica Roma win their game against the closely-ranked Enel Brindisi (7-6) 86-82 in the Italian SerieA in Sunday night's game. Czyz recorded 7 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 29 minutes. Acea Virtus Roma (8-5) is placed fifth in the SerieA. This year Czyz's overall stats are: 7.8ppg and 4.6rpg in the 13 games. Despite his very good performance Basketbal Svitavy lost 86-95 in Pardubice to the much higher-ranked (#3) BK Pardubice. Mroz was the top scorer with 19 points. He also added 6 rebounds in 26 minutes. Mroz's stats this year are: 13.1ppg, 6.8rpg and 1.2apg in the 17 games. He used to play for the Polish U18 national team back in 2002.

Szewczyk recorded 5 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 31 minutes. Umana Reyer Venezia (6-7) is placed eighth in the SerieA. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Gruszecki scored 9 points in 29 minutes. His team was badly defeated by 18 points 64-46. Gruszecki has averaged so far 8.8ppg and 4.9rpg in the 11 games. He used to play for the Polish U20 national team five years ago.

   #12. International center Przemyslaw Karnowski (216-93, is currently at the American university) helped Gonzaga win their game against the Pepperdine University 78-62 in the NCAA last Thursday. He scored 5 points in 13 minutes. Karnowski has averaged so far 8.8ppg and 4.9rpg in the 11 games. He is also in the roster of the Polish national team.

   #13. Former U18 international center Szymon Lukasiak (208-87, college: Jacksonville, currently plays in Sweden) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Nassjo in their game against Eco Orebro in the Swedish Basketligan. Lukasiak recorded 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. His team was defeated 80-74. Lukasiak has averaged so far 8.8ppg and 5.5rpg. He used to play for the Polish U18 national team eight years ago.

   #1. Gal Mekel (190-PG-88, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Israel) led Maccabi Haifa to a victory over the eighth-ranked Maccabi Rishon (5-6) 79-73 in the Israeli Winner League in Sunday night's game. Mekel was MVP of the game. He scored 17 points and added 5 assists. Maccabi Bazan Haifa (8-3) is placed second in the Winner League. Mekel has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 15.6ppg, 2.2rpg, 7.4apg and 1.6spg. Mekel has a dual citizenship: Polish and Israeli.

   #2. Vitaliy Kovalenko (203-F-84, currently plays in Ukraine), who plays in the Ukrainian Superleague could not help Khimik (12-9) to beat Kryvbasbasket (10-14). He scored 9 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 3 assists. But Khimik was badly defeated 89-73 on the road by the lower-ranked Kryvbasbasket (#10). It was Khimik's fourth consecutive loss in a row. Kovalenko's overall stats this season are: 8.2ppg and 2.4rpg. He is another player who holds two passports: Polish and Ukrainian.

   #3. Konrad Wysocki (201-F-82, agency: Pro One Sports, college: Princeton, currently plays in Germany) managed to help EWE Baskets Oldenburg to win against the league outsider LTi 46ers (4-12) 102-86 in the German BBL in Sunday night's game. Wysocki recorded only 4 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. EWE Baskets Oldenburg (12-5) is placed second in the BBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Wysocki's first season with the team. His total stats this year are: 7.9ppg and 3.7rpg. Wysocki has both Polish and German nationalities.

   #4. Robert Lewandowski (208-F-89, college: Texas Tech, currently plays in Czech Republic), who plays in the Czech Republic NBL was not able to help BK Usti nad Labem (3-16) in their last game on Thursday. Despite Lewandowski's very good performance the bottom-ranked BK Usti nad Labem was defeated in an overtime 85-81 in J.Hradec by the higher-ranked BK Lions Hradec (#11). He was the second best scorer with 18 points. Lewandowski also added 7 rebounds and made 2 blocks. It's Lewandowski's first season with the team. He averaged so far 14.5ppg, 5.8rpg, 1.5apg and 1.8bpg. Lewandowski is a naturalized American. He used to play for PGE Turow Zgorzelec in Polish league.

   #5. Marek Olesinski (203-F, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to secure a victory for the Air Force in their game against the University of Florida in the NCAA. Olesinski recorded 6 points. The Air Force was badly defeated 78-61 in Gainesville, FL by the University of Florida. Olesinski has averaged so far 8.8ppg and 4.9rpg. He is a naturalized American. Strangely Olesinski has never played in Poland.

   #6. Maciej Baginski (195-SF-95, currently plays in Iceland) couldn't help Njardvik in their game against Snaefell in the Icelandic Dominos League. Baginski cannot count Friday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points in 16 minutes. His team was crushed by 34 points 104-70. Baginski has averaged so far 6.5ppg and 3.4rpg in the 11 games he played so far. He also holds two passports: Polish and Icelandic.

KK Warszawa - AZS AWF Mick. 75-64 KK Warszawa held off AZS AWF Mickiewicz to advance into the semifinal stage. KK Warszawa dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to AZS AWF Mick.'s 28. It was a great evening for point guard Pawel Hybiak (173-89) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists. Experienced Former international Point guard Krzysztof Szubarga (178-PG-84) had a great game in the last round for Asseco and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 29. The 32-year old playmaker had the game-high 33 points adding five assists for Asseco in his team's victory, helping them to edge out Siarka (#17, 4-27) 100-96. PLK Round 29: Anwil beats Twarde Pierniki in the most crucial game of the week - 4 days ago
There will be only one (last) round of the Regular Season in PLK. An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Torun. First ranked Anwil faced 4th placed Twarde Pierniki. Guests from Wloclawek (24-7) defeated host Twarde Pierniki (20-11) 73-69.
