The most exciting game of round 16 in the 1Liga took place in Kutno. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of one of their biggest challengers MKS DG (11-5) to second ranked AZS Kutno (12-4) 75-73 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of MKS DG. MKS DG was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 24-19 charge of AZS Kutno, which allowed them to win the game. AZS Kutno had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Dawid Brek (185-89, agency: Promotex) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and point guard Krzysztof Jakobczyk (183-86) who added 14 points during the contest. At the losing side guard Lukasz Grzegorzewski (192-84) responded with 15 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. AZS Kutno maintains second position with 12-4 record having just three points less than leader Slask Wroclaw. MKS DG at the other side dropped to the third place with five games lost. They share the position with Stal Ostrow. AZS Kutno are looking forward to face Znicz Basket (#7) in Pruszkow in the next round where they are favorite. MKS DG will play at home against AZS PP (#16) in Pozoan and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Stal Ostrow (11-5) against fifth ranked MOSiR Krosno (10-6) on Sunday night. Even a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds by power forward Wojciech Zurawski (199-76) did not help to save the game for Stal Ostrow. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. MOSiR Krosno maintains fifth position with 10-6 record, which they share with Sokol Lancut.
