Seventh-ranked Znicz Basket (8-9) made lots of trouble for second ranked AZS Kutno (13-4) in Pruszkow on Wednesday. The visitors from Kutno managed to secure only two-point victory 75-73. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Znicz Basket. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-16. But Znicz Basket won second period 18-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. AZS Kutno forced 19 Znicz Basket turnovers and had a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was forward Jakub Dluski (200-87) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. point guard Dawid Brek (185-89, agency: Promotex) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. Guard Michal Aleksandrowicz (188-89) produced 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. AZS Kutno maintains second place with 13-4 record having just three points less than leader Slask Wroclaw. Znicz Basket at the other side dropped to the ninth position with nine games lost. They share it with Start Lublin. AZS Kutno are looking forward to face UMKS Kielce (#15) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Znicz Basket will play against AZS PP (#16) in Pozoan and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Stal Ostrow (11-6) against twelfth ranked Spojnia (7-10) on Wednesday night. Host Stal Ostrow was edged by Spojnia in a tough game in Ostrow Wlkp. 72-74. Guard Tomasz Stepien (193-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points. Hubert Pabian contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Forward Jakub Dryjanski (201-82) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for Stal Ostrow. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Spojnia moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with AZS Radex. Newly promoted Stal Ostrow dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. Spojnia will play against higher ranked WIKANA Start (#10) in Lublin in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Stal Ostrow will play on the road against Astoria Bydg. (#13) in Bydgoszcz and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Polonia defeated UMKS Kielce in Przemysl 77-73. SKK Siedlce was beaten by AZS Radex at home 68-77. P.Cukier SIDEn won against Sokol Lancut on the opponent's court 61-57. MKS DG outscored AZS PP in a home game 94-66.
The best stats of 17th round was 24 points by Marek Piechowicz of MKS DG.


Slask Wroclaw - Astoria Bydg. 104-53

Leader Slask Wroclaw delivered the sixteenth victory on Wednesday night. This time they crushed 11th ranked Astoria Bydg. (6-11) 104-53. The game without a history. Slask Wroclaw led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Astoria Bydg. to just 6 points in second quarter. Slask Wroclaw dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Astoria Bydg.'s 32 and made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Astoria Bydg. 54-23 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Point guard Marcin Flieger (182-84, agency: Promotex) stepped up and scored 17 points and 4 assists for the winners and the former international forward Radoslaw Hyzy (203-77) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four Slask Wroclaw players scored in double figures. There was no surprise when 15th ranked UMKS Kielce (3-15) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Polonia (9-8) 77-73. It looked good early as UMKS Kielce took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Polonia had a 24-14 second period charge getting the lead and UMKS Kielce was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 73-77. Polonia made 24-of-25 charity shots (96.0 percent) during the game. Forward Artur Mikolajko (197-79) nailed 12 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winning side and guard Grzegorz Plocica (190-80) accounted for 10 points. point guard Hubert Makuch (179-85) came up with 17 points and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and forward Rafal Krol (198-87) added 18 points respectively for UMKS Kielce in the defeat. UMKS Kielce's coach Michal Spychala tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Polonia moved-up to seventh place, which they share with P.Cukier SIDEn. UMKS Kielce lost their eighth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fifteenth position with 15 games lost. Guard Jacek Jarecki (197-88) nailed 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and forward Aleks Perka (201-87, college: Rice, agency: Stanley International) accounted for 10 points and 10 rebounds. AZS PP was better in second period 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to AZS PP's 44. MKS DG forced 25 AZS PP turnovers. Forward Pawel Zmarlak (195-82) nailed 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and swingman Marek Piechowicz (203-88) accounted for 24 points (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field).
