Here is the weekly review of the top performing Polish players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Marcin Gortat (211-84, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA. He could not help the Phoenix Suns (12-26) in their last game. Despite Gortat's very good performance the Phoenix Suns lost 80-87 at home to the Utah Jazz. He had a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 11 rebounds. Gortat also added 3 blocks in 40 minutes on the court. It was Suns' fifth consecutive loss in a row. Gortat has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 11.6ppg, 8.9rpg, 1.3apg, 1.9bpg, 2FGP: 53.5% and FT: 69.0% in the 38 games he played so far. Gortat is currently a member of the Polish senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international power forward Maciej Lampe (211-85, currently plays in Euroleague). He led his Spanish team Caja Laboral to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked Besiktas (0-3) crushing them 77-51 in the Euroleague last Thursday. Lampe recorded a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 3 blocks. Caja Laboral Vitoria (3-0) is placed first in group F. So far his team won all three games in the Top 16. Lampe has relatively good stats this season: 11.9ppg, 5.5rpg, 2FGP: 47.3%, 3FGP: 30.8% and FT: 71.1%. He has a dual citizenship: Polish and Swedish. Lampe is in the roster of the Polish senior national team.

   #3. The Polish player who performed third best last week abroad was an international swingman Thomas Kelati (195-82, agency: Beo Basket, college: Washington St., currently plays in Spain). He was the major contributor in an overtime Valencia Basket's victory against the closely-ranked Gescrap BB (10-6) 113-111 in the Spanish ACB on Sunday night. Kelati recorded 17 points and added 4 passes in 36 minutes. Valencia Basket (12-4) is placed third in the ACB. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Kelati's first season with the team. This year he has relatively solid stats: 11.4ppg, 2.0rpg, 1.9apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 58.3%(14-24), 3FGP: 41.5% and FT: 85.7% in the eight games. Kelati is another player who holds two passports: Eritrean and Polish. Ex-BOT Turow Zgorzelec player is also a member of the Polish senior national team.

   #4. Guard David Logan (185-82, college: Indianapolis, currently plays in Israel) led Maccabi T-A to a victory over the fifth-ranked Hapoel J-M (6-6) 79-71 in the Israeli Winner League in Sunday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Logan scored 13 points. Maccabi Electra Tel-Aviv (11-1) is placed first in the Winner League. It was his team's ninth consecutive victory in a row. Logan has reliable stats this season: 11.3ppg, 1.9rpg and 2.0apg. He is a naturalized American. Logan used to play for the Polish national team back in 2009. He played also for WTK Anwil Wloclawek in Polish league.

An experienced international forward Michal Ignerski (207-80, agency: Stanley International, college: Mississippi St., currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian SerieA was not able to help Banco di Sardegna Sassari (11-3) in their last game. Despite Ignerski's good performance Banco di Sardegna Sassari lost 81-88 on the road to the much lower-ranked (#9) Juvecaserta. He scored 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 32 minutes. They ended the series of five consecutive victories. Ignerski's stats this year are: 12.5ppg and 5.8rpg in the 14 games. He plays currently for the Polish national team.

Power forward Jakub Wojciechowski (210-90, currently plays in Italy) was the main contributor in Torino's victory against one of league's weakest teams Latina Basket (5-12) 86-68 in the Italian Nazionale A (third division) last Sunday. Wojciechowski was the best player in that game. He scored 21 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. PMS Torino (13-3) is placed first in the Nazionale A. This season Wojciechowski has very high stats. He averages: 15.9ppg and 8.9rpg. Wojciechowski is an international player who is currently on the senior Polish National Team roster.

   #7. Former international center Michal Hlebowicki (204-76, currently plays in Latvia), who plays in the Latvian LBL was not able to secure a victory for Jekabpils (10-8) in their last game. Despite his good performance Jekabpils was edged in an overtime 95-93 on the opponent's court by the lower-ranked (#9) Liepaja. Hlebowicki scored 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 24 minutes. It was Jekabpils' first loss after four consecutive victories. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Hlebowicki's overall stats are: 7.8ppg and 5.7rpg in the 18 games. He used to play for the Polish national team eleven years ago.

   #8. Center Pawel Mroz (215-84, currently plays in Czech Republic) couldn't help Basketbal Svitavy (7-13) in their game against BK Prostejov (12-8) in the Czech Republic NBL. Despite his very good performance in Saturday night's game Mroz was the second best scorer with 24 points. He also added 8 rebounds. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Mroz's stats this season are: 13.7ppg, 6.9rpg and 1.1apg. He used to play for the Polish U18 national team back in 2002.

   #9. International center Szymon Szewczyk (209-82, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help Umana Venezia (6-8) in their game against Air Avellino (4-10) in the Italian SerieA. Szewczyk scored 9 points in only 12 minutes. But Umana Venezia lost 93-97 in Avellino to the lower-ranked (#14) Air Avellino. It was Umana Venezia's first loss after three consecutive victories. This year Szewczyk's total stats are: 8.8ppg and 4.7rpg in the 12 games. He is also in the roster of the Polish national team.

Forward Tomasz Gielo (206-93, currently plays college basketball in the States) couldn't help the Liberty (0-2) in their game against the Virginia Military Institute (2-0) in the NCAA, despite his good performance in Wednesday night's game. Gielo scored 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 27 minutes. But the Liberty lost 69-82 in Lexington, VA to the Virginia Military Institute. Gielo has averaged so far 6.1ppg, 3.3rpg and 2.3apg in the 12 games. He is U20 international player who is currently on the Polish National Team roster.

   #11. Former international center Cezary Trybanski (218-79, currently plays in Lithuania) couldn't help Dzukija in their game against Triobet in the Lithuanian NKL (second division). He scored 9 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and made 3 blocks. His team was defeated 79-73. Trybanski is the league's best rebounder and also on the list of best blockers (first place). He has very reliable stats this season: 12.2ppg, 10.7rpg and 3.3bpg. Trybanski used to play for the Polish national team twelve years ago.

   #12. International center Przemyslaw Karnowski (216-93, currently studies in the States) managed to help Gonzaga University to win against the Saint Mary's College of California 83-78 in the NCAA on Thursday night. Karnowski recorded only 4 points. He averaged so far 14.2ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.4apg and 1.4bpg. Karnowski is also in the roster of the Polish national team.

   #13. Former U18 international center Szymon Lukasiak (208-87, college: Jacksonville, currently plays in Sweden) couldn't help Nassjo in their game against Sundsvall Dragons in the Swedish Basketligan, despite his good performance in Friday night's game. He scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 21 minutes. But his team lost 87-101. Lukasiak has averaged so far 8.9ppg and 5.5rpg in the 20 games. He used to play for the Polish U18 national team eight years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Polish passport but never been selected to any of Polish national teams:

   #1. Gal Mekel (190-PG-88, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Israel), who plays in the Israeli Winner League could not help Maccabi Haifa (8-4) in their last game on Monday. Despite Mekel's good performance Maccabi Haifa was defeated 89-84 on the road by the much lower-ranked Hapoel Holon (#10). He scored 14 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 7 assists. Mekel has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 15.3ppg, 2.7rpg, 7.3apg and 1.5spg. Mekel has a dual citizenship: Polish and Israeli.

   #2. Vitaliy Kovalenko (203-F-84, currently plays in Ukraine) led Khimik to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Mykolaiv (12-13) crushing them 86-45 in the Ukrainian Superleague in Saturday night's game. He scored 11 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and made 2 blocks in a mere 19 minutes. Khimik-OPZ Yuzny (13-10) is placed sixth in the Superleague. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Kovalenko's overall stats are: 8.4ppg and 2.4rpg in the 23 games he played so far. He is another player who holds two passports: Polish and Ukrainian.

   #3. Dominik Malinowski (198-SG-91, currently plays in Germany) led SG Schwelmer Baskets to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked Dorsten (6-7) crushing them 83-63 in the German ProB (third division) on Saturday night. Malinowski recorded 11 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists. SG Schwelmer Baskets (12-1) is placed first in Group North. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. Malinowski has averaged so far 6.1ppg, 3.3rpg and 2.3apg. He has both Polish and German nationalities. Despite Malinowski's Polish passport, he previously played for the German U18 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Polish team.

   #4. Experienced Jose Mackiewicz (201-F-79, currently plays in Uruguay), who plays in the Uruguayan LUB was not able to help Tabare (9-19) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite Mackiewicz's good performance the 14th-placed Tabare was defeated 70-66 in Montevideo by the lower-ranked Larre Borges (#15) in the Capital group. He recorded 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Mackiewicz has averaged so far 3.5ppg and 1.7rpg. He also holds two passports: Polish and Uruguayan.

   #5. Anatoliy Shundel (190-PG-93, currently plays in Ukraine) faced previously mentioned Vitaliy Kovalenko in the Ukrainian Superleague last game. Shundel was not able to secure a victory for Mykolaiv (12-13) in their game against Khimik (13-10). He scored 6 points and blocked 2 blocks in 21 minutes. Mykolaiv was crushed 86-45 in Yuzhny by the higher-ranked (#6) Khimik. Shundel's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. This year Shundel averages only 1.0ppg in the 11 games.

   #6. Robert Lewandowski (208-F-89, college: Texas Tech, currently plays in Czech Republic), who plays in the Czech Republic NBL couldn't help BK Usti nad Labem (3-17) in their last game. Despite his good performance the bottom-ranked BK Usti nad Labem was crushed 111-73 in Ostrava by the second-ranked NH Ostrava. Lewandowski was the second best scorer with 13 points in 26 minutes. He averaged so far 14.2ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.4apg and 1.4bpg in the five games. Lewandowski is a naturalized American. He used to play for PGE Turow Zgorzelec in Polish league.

   #7. Patryk Bajtus (206-C-91, currently plays in Portugal) managed to help Barcelos Hotel Terco to win against the seventh-ranked Sampaense 90-83 in the Portuguese LPB last Saturday. Bajtus scored only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. He has averaged so far 3.5ppg and 3.0rpg.

   #8. Maciej Baginski (195-SF-95, currently plays in Iceland) couldn't help Njardvik in their game against Snaefell in the Icelandic Dominos League. Baginski cannot count Friday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points in 16 minutes. His team was crushed by 34 points 104-70. Baginski has averaged so far 6.5ppg and 3.4rpg in the 11 games. He has Polish and Icelandic nationalities.

Miasto Szkla Krosno (PLK) agreed terms with 26-year old Latvian international guard Davis Lejasmeiers (192-84kg-91).
