McBride's double-double lands her Player of the Week award - Jan 28, 2013

30-year old guard Julie McBride (165-G-82) had a great game in the last round for league's best team Artego Bydg. and receives a Player of the Week award for round 19.
She got a double-double of 20 points and 11 assists, while her team outclassed AZS Rzeszow (#9, 2-13) with 57-point margin 94-37. It allowed Artego Bydg. to consolidate first place in the Polish PLKK. Artego Bydg. has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 14-1. In the team's last game McBride had a remarkable 88.9% from 2-point range. She turned to be Artego Bydg.'s top player in her first season with the team. Syracuse University graduate has very impressive stats this year. McBride is league's best scorer averaging so far 19.6ppg and is league's best passer with 7.1apg. McBride is in league's top in and averages solid 2.7spg and 53.8% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Kristen Morris (190-F-87). She is American forward in her first season at Artego Bydg.. In the last game Morris recorded impressive double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds. Of course together with McBride she helped Artego Bydg. with another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked AZS Rzeszow (#9, 2-13) 94-37. Of course Artego Bydg. still keep the league's top spot. Her team belongs to top of the standings with 14-1 record and is considered one of the main candidates for the league title. Morris is a newcomer at Artego Bydg. and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Paulina Misiek (182-F-87, agency: Promotex) of Energa Torun (#4). Misiek scored 24 points and grabbed seven rebounds. She was a key player of Energa Torun, leading her team to a 92-58 easy win against the lower-ranked BI SSA Gdynia (#7, 6-9). Energa Torun needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 10 victories and 4 lost games. Misiek has a very solid season. In 15 games in Poland she scored 10.7ppg.

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Maros Kovacik named new head coach of CCC Polkowice - 3 days ago

Maros Kovacik will be the new coach of CCC Polkowice. That will be 3rd head coach of the team in the current season. Stefan Svitek resigned after loss to Basket 90 Gdynia during last round of BLK. American Renee Montgomery (170-PG-86, agency: LBM Management) had a great game in the last round for Basket Gdynia and that's her to receive a Player of the Week award for round 9. The 30-year old playmaker had the game-high 37 points adding four rebounds and four assists for Basket Gdynia in her team's victory, helping them to crush CCC Polkowice (#7, 4-5) with 17-point margin 93-76. The most exciting game of round 9 in the TBLK took place in Gorzow Wlkp.. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Artego Bydg. (5-4) to third ranked AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (7-2) 69-67 on Sunday evening. AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski forced 19 Artego Bydg. turnovers.
