The game between third ranked MKS DG (13-8) and tenth ranked Spojnia (10-11) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. MKS DG was edged by Spojnia in a tough game in Dabrowa Gornicza 70-72. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But MKS DG won fourth quarter 14-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for forward Hubert Pabian (202-89, agency: Promotex) who led his team to a victory with 18 points. Guard Tomasz Stepien (193-86) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Michal Woloszyn (202-84) answered with 29 points and 6 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for MKS DG. MKS DG's coach Wojciech Wieczorek rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Spojnia maintains tenth place with 10-11 record, which they share with Start Lublin. MKS DG at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost. They share it with Sokol Lancut. Spojnia is looking forward to face higher ranked Znicz Basket (#6) in Pruszkow in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. MKS DG will play on the road against Astoria Bydg. in Bydgoszcz and is hoping to win this game.
Another interesting game for Znicz Basket (11-10) which hosted in Pruszkow against 4th placed MOSiR Krosno (12-9). Eighth ranked Znicz Basket had an easy win 65-54. Point guard Dominik Czubek (178-75) stepped up and scored 18 points for the winners and Przemyslaw Szymanski chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was point guard Kamil Laczynski (180-89) with 12 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Znicz Basket have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. MOSiR Krosno at the other side dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. Znicz Basket will play against Spojnia (#10) in Stargard in the next round. MOSiR Krosno will play at home against UMKS Kielce (#15) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
1Liga top team - Slask Wroclaw (20-1) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they crushed fourteenth ranked SKK Siedlce (5-15) 83-58. Pawel Kikowski nailed 24 points for the winning side. Tomasz Deja came up with 11 points and 8 rebounds for SKK Siedlce in the defeat. SKK Siedlce's coach Wieslaw Gluszczak gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Slask Wroclaw have an impressive series of twenty victories in a row. They maintain first place with 20-1 record. SKK Siedlce lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 15 games lost. Slask Wroclaw will meet at home Sokol Lancut (#4) in the next round. SKK Siedlce will play against Stal Ostrow (#8) in Ostrow Wlkp. and hope to secure a win.
Sixteenth-ranked AZS PP (3-17) used its home court advantage to challenge ninth ranked Polonia (11-10) in Pozoan. The visitors from Przemysl managed to secure only two-point victory 58-56. However their fans expected much easier game. The best player for the winners was Tomasz Zablocki who scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. AZS PP's coach Waldemar Mendel tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Polonia moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted AZS PP stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Polonia's next round opponent will be WIKANA Start (#11) in Lublin which should be theoretically an easy game. AZS PP will play on the road against P.Cukier SIDEn (#9) in Torun.

WIKANA Start will face higher ranked Polonia (#7) in Przemysl in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 21: Astoria Bydg. was smashed by Sokol Lancut on the road 97-71. AZS Kutno won against P.Cukier SIDEn on its own court 74-67. AZS Radex managed to outperform UMKS Kielce in Szczecin 84-66.


Znicz Basket - MOSiR Krosno 65-54

Another interesting game for Znicz Basket (11-10) which hosted in Pruszkow against 4th placed MOSiR Krosno (12-9). Eighth ranked Znicz Basket had an easy win 65-54. It looked good early as MOSiR Krosno took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Znicz Basket had a 18-10 second period charge getting the lead and MOSiR Krosno was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 54-65. MOSiR Krosno was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Dominik Czubek (178-75) stepped up and scored 18 points for the winners and forward Przemyslaw Szymanski (198-84) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. WIKANA Start led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game, while Stal Ostrow only scored two points from the stripe. They outrebounded Stal Ostrow 39-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-58. Slask Wroclaw made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Slask Wroclaw outrebounded SKK Siedlce 45-34 including 31 on the defensive glass. No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Sokol Lancut (13-8) crushed at home 13th ranked Astoria Bydg. (8-13) 97-71 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Sokol Lancut. Astoria Bydg. was better in second period 25-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Sokol Lancut especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Astoria Bydg.'s players. It was a good game for center Kamil Gawrzydek (210-87, college: Idaho St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds. Forward Damian Pieloch (195-89) contributed with 23 points for the winners. Five Sokol Lancut players scored in double figures. Sokol Lancut's coach Dariusz Kaszowski felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Wojciech Fras (203-91) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and guard Mateusz Bierwagen (194-88) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Astoria Bydg.The victory was the third consecutive win for Sokol Lancut. They moved-up to third place, which they share with MKS DG. Newly promoted Astoria Bydg. keeps the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. Sokol Lancut will face league's leader Slask Wroclaw on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Astoria Bydg. will play against MKS DG (#3) in Dabrowa Gornicza.

Sixteenth-ranked AZS PP (3-17) used its home court advantage to challenge ninth ranked Polonia (11-10) in Pozoan. The visitors from Przemysl managed to secure only two-point victory 58-56. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But AZS PP won fourth quarter 9-7. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was forward Tomasz Zablocki (202-78, agency: Promotex) who scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Center Dariusz Wyka (207-91) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds.
