We bring you last week's top performances from Poles who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international power forward Maciej Lampe (211-85, currently plays in Spain). He led Caja Laboral to a victory over the 13th-ranked Cajasol (7-12) 86-82 in the Spanish ACB in Saturday night's game. Lampe was MVP of the game. He recorded 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 27 minutes on the court. Caja Laboral Vitoria (16-3) is placed second in the ACB. It was his team's ninth consecutive victory in a row. Lampe has relatively good stats this year: 12.9ppg, 5.4rpg, 2FGP: 54.5%, 3FGP: 34.5% in the 19 games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Polish and Swedish. Lampe is currently a member of the Polish senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to former international guard David Logan (185-82, college: Indianapolis, currently plays in Israel). He was the main contributor in a Maccabi T-A's victory against the closely-ranked Maccabi Haifa (9-6) 76-64 in the Israeli Winner League last Sunday. Logan was the best player in that game. He scored 18 points, had 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Maccabi Electra Tel-Aviv (14-1) is placed first in the Winner League. It was his team's 12th consecutive victory in a row. This season Logan has relatively solid stats: 10.8ppg, 2.0rpg, 2.1apg, 2FGP: 62.3%(33-53), 3FGP: 38.0% and FT: 75.0%. He is a naturalized American. Logan played for the Polish national team in 2009. He used to play for WTK Anwil Wloclawek in Polish league.

   #3. The Polish player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Marcin Gortat (211-84, currently plays in NBA). Gortat was the major contributor in a Phoenix Suns' victory against the Los Angeles Lakers (21-26) 92-86 in the NBA on Wednesday night. He had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 12 rebounds. Gortat also added 3 assists in 29 minutes. The Phoenix Suns have not so impressive 16-31 record this season. Gortat has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 11.7ppg, 8.9rpg, 1.4apg, 1.8bpg, 2FGP: 52.9% and FT: 68.4% in the 47 games. Gortat is also a member of the Polish senior national team.

Center Szymon Szewczyk (209-82, currently plays in Italy) contributed to an Umana Venezia's victory against the closely-ranked Trenkwalder RE (8-9) 75-69 in the Italian SerieA in Sunday night's game. He was the top player that evening. Szewczyk scored 27 points (!!!) and grabbed 6 rebounds. Umana Reyer Venezia (9-8) is placed seventh in the SerieA. Ignerski scored 15 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 22 minutes. Banco di Sardegna Sassari (14-3) is placed second in the SerieA. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Ignerski's stats this year are: 12.7ppg and 5.4rpg in the 17 games. He plays currently for the Polish national team.

Despite Mroz's very good performance Basketbal Svitavy was badly defeated 90-70 on the road by the higher-ranked BK Decin (#4). He was the top scorer with 29 points. Mroz also added 9 rebounds. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Mroz is ranked seventh on the list of the best rebounders in the league. This season he has very high stats. Mroz averages: 15.1ppg and 7.0rpg. He used to play for the Polish U18 national team eleven years ago.

Swingman Thomas Kelati (195-82, agency: Beo Basket, college: Washington St., currently plays in Spain) was not able to help Valencia Basket (12-7) in their game against UCAM Murcia (8-11) in the Spanish ACB. Kelati cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 3 points and added 3 assists in 24 minutes. Valencia Basket was edged 96-94 in Murcia by the much lower-ranked (#12) UCAM. It was Valencia Basket's third consecutive loss in a row. Kelati averaged so far 10.8ppg, 2.3rpg, 1.7apg and 1.2spg in the 11 games. He plays currently for the Polish national team.

Former U20 international forward Olek Czyz (200-90, agency: Priority Sports, college: Nevada, currently plays in Italy) managed to help Acea Virtus Roma to win against the closely-ranked Cantu (11-6) 65-60 in the Italian SerieA in Sunday night's game. Czyz scored only 4 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Acea Virtus Roma (12-5) is placed fourth in the SerieA. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. Czyz's overall stats this season are: 6.4ppg and 4.4rpg. He used to play for the Polish U20 national team three years ago.

Karnowski averaged so far 13.7ppg, 2.6rpg and 1.2spg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Polish National Team roster.

   #11. Former international center Cezary Trybanski (218-79, currently plays in Lithuania) contributed to Dzukija's victory against the 15th-ranked Silute 88-80 in the Lithuanian NKL (second division) in Friday night's game. Trybanski scored 17 points, had 9 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 30 minutes. Trybanski is ranked first on the list of the best rebounders in the league and also on the list of best blockers (first place). He has very reliable stats this year: 12.8ppg, 10.9rpg and 3.4bpg in the 27 games. Trybanski used to play for the Polish national team twelve years ago.

   #12. Former U18 international center Szymon Lukasiak (208-87, college: Jacksonville, currently plays in Sweden) contributed to Nassjo's surprising victory against the league leader Sundsvall Dragons 81-76 in the Swedish Basketligan in Friday night's game. Lukasiak recorded 13 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Lukasiak's overall stats this season are: 9.7ppg and 5.2rpg. He used to play for the Polish U18 national team back in 2005.

   #13. U20 international forward Tomasz Gielo (206-93, currently studies in the States) was not able to secure a victory for the Liberty in their game against the Charleston Southern University in the NCAA. He scored 6 points. His team was defeated 79-75. Gielo's overall stats this season are: 7.6ppg and 3.5rpg. He is also Polish U20 national team player.


The list of other players, who all have Polish passport but never been selected to any of Polish national teams:

   #1. Vitaliy Kovalenko (203-F-84, currently plays in EuroChallenge) led his Ukrainian team Khimik to a victory over the fourth-ranked Norrkoping Dolphins (1-2) 81-76 in the EuroChallenge in Tuesday night's game. He was the top player that evening. Kovalenko scored 14 points in 23 minutes. Khimik-OPZ Yuzny (1-2) is placed second in group K. There are only three games left until the end of the EuroChallenge Top 16. So now every game will be critical. This year Kovalenko's overall stats are: 6.9ppg and 3.4rpg in the nine games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Polish and Ukrainian.

   #2. Gal Mekel (190-PG-88, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Israel), who plays in the Israeli Winner League could not help Maccabi Haifa (9-6) to beat Maccabi T-A (14-1). Mekel scored 8 points in 34 minutes. Maccabi Haifa lost 64-76 on the road to the leading Maccabi T-A. Mekel is currently first on the league's list of best passers with 5.8apg. This year he also averages: 13.7ppg, 2.6rpg and 1.2spg in the nine games. Mekel is another player who holds two passports: Polish and Israeli.

   #3. Konrad Wysocki (201-F-82, agency: Pro One Sports, college: Princeton, currently plays in EuroChallenge) managed to help EWE Baskets Oldenburg to win against the fourth-ranked Okapi Aalstar (1-2) crushing them 103-80 in the EuroChallenge last Tuesday. He scored only 4 points. EWE Baskets Oldenburg (3-0) is placed first in group L. So far his team won all three games in the Top 16. There are only three games left until the end of the EuroChallenge Top 16. So now every game is very crucial. Wysocki's overall stats this season are: 6.7ppg and 4.0rpg. He has both Polish and German nationalities.

   #4. Dominik Malinowski (198-SG-91, currently plays in Germany) contributed to a 3-point SG Schwelmer Baskets' victory against the eighth-ranked Spot Up Medien Baskets (6-10) 75-72 in the German ProB (third division) on Saturday night. Malinowski recorded 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 23 minutes. SG Schwelmer Baskets (15-1) is placed first in Group North. It was his team's tenth consecutive victory in a row. This year Malinowski's overall stats are: 6.8ppg, 3.5rpg and 2.1apg in the 15 games. He also holds two passports: Polish and German. Despite Malinowski's Polish nationality, he previously played for the German U18 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Polish team.

   #5. Maciej Baginski (195-SF-95, currently plays in Iceland) contributed to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams IR (3-11) 98-81 in the Icelandic Dominos League last Thursday. Baginski scored 15 points in 20 minutes. UMFN Njardvik (5-13) is placed sixth in the Dominos League. Baginski is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Njardvik's roster. This season his overall stats are: 7.6ppg and 3.5rpg in the 14 games. Baginski holds both Polish and Icelandic passports. Despite his Polish nationality, Baginski currently plays for the Icelandic U18 national team and cannot be called to the Polish team.

   #6. Robert Lewandowski (208-F-89, college: Texas Tech, currently plays in Czech Republic) contributed to a BK Usti nad Labem's surprising victory against the seventh-ranked Levice 79-76 in the Czech Republic NBL in Sunday night's game. Lewandowski scored 5 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 21 minutes. He averaged so far 13.9ppg, 4.6rpg and 1.5apg in the eight games. Lewandowski is a naturalized American. He used to play for PGE Turow Zgorzelec in Polish league.

   #7. Jakub Kusmieruk (224-C-89, currently plays college basketball in the States) was not able to help the Idaho St. in their game against the University of Northern Colorado in the NCAA. Kusmieruk cannot count Thursday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 2 points. His team was defeated 78-63. Kusmieruk averaged so far 13.9ppg, 4.6rpg and 1.5apg.

Group A Goleniow - Domino Inowr. 82-61 Goleniow looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Domino Inowr.'s players. It was a great evening for Tomasz Balcerek (190-87) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 8 rebounds and 13 assists.
