The most exciting game of round 23 in the 1Liga took place in Lancut. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Stal Ostrow (12-11) to fifth ranked Sokol Lancut (14-9) 88-85 on Saturday evening. Stal Ostrow was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 21-17 charge of Sokol Lancut, which allowed them to win the game. They made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game, while Stal Ostrow only scored seven points from the stripe. 26 personal fouls committed by Stal Ostrow helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Damian Pieloch (195-89) who scored 28 points. Forward Kacper Mlynarski (200-92) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Marcin Kalowski (191-80) produced 31 points (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) for the guests. Sokol Lancut moved-up to third place, which they share with MOSiR Krosno and MKS DG. Newly promoted Stal Ostrow keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Sokol Lancut is looking forward to face WIKANA Start (#10) in Lublin in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Stal Ostrow will play at home against MKS DG (#4) in Dabrowa Gornicza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a home loss of second ranked AZS Kutno (16-6) against fourth ranked MOSiR Krosno (14-9) on Saturday night. Host AZS Kutno was defeated by MOSiR Krosno in a tough game in Kutno 72-76. Point guard Dariusz Oczkowicz (183-81) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 7 rebounds. Kamil Laczynski contributed with 14 points and 8 assists for the winners. MOSiR Krosno's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Forward Jakub Dluski (200-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for AZS Kutno. MOSiR Krosno moved-up to third place, which they share with Sokol Lancut and MKS DG. AZS Kutno at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. MOSiR Krosno will play against bottom-ranked AZS PP (#16) in Pozoan in the next round which should be an easy win for them. AZS Kutno will play on the road against Spojnia (#7) in Stargard and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Dabrowa Gornicza. First ranked Slask Wroclaw faced 3rd placed MKS DG. Guests from Wroclaw (22-1) defeated host MKS DG (14-9) 87-78. It was a great evening for Marcin Flieger who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 4 assists. Mateusz Dziemba responded with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Slask Wroclaw have an impressive series of twenty two victories in a row. They maintain first place with 22-1 record. Loser MKS DG keeps the third position with nine games lost. They share it with Sokol Lancut and MOSiR Krosno. Slask Wroclaw will meet at home Znicz Basket (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. MKS DG will play against Stal Ostrow (#6) in Ostrow Wlkp. and hope to secure a win.
A very interesting game took place in Torun. It ended with only two-point home defeat of higher ranked P.Cukier SIDEn (12-11) to eleventh ranked Polonia (12-11) 79-77 in the fight for the sixth place. It was an exceptional evening for Grzegorz Kukielka who led the winners and scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. P.Cukier SIDEn's coach Eugeniusz Kijewski tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Polonia moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated P.Cukier SIDEn. Polonia's next round opponent will be SKK Siedlce (#14) at home and are hoping to win another game.

The best player for the winners was Mateusz Bierwagen who had a double-double by scoring 31 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Astoria Bydg. maintains thirteenth place with 9-14 record. Loser Znicz Basket keeps the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Astoria Bydg. will face UMKS Kielce (#15) at home in the next round.

Other games of round 23 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
AZS Radex defeated AZS PP in Szczecin 62-58. Start Lublin beat SKK Siedlce at home 75-64. UMKS Kielce lost to Spojnia on the opponent's court 62-67.


MKS DG - Slask Wroclaw 78-87

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Dabrowa Gornicza. First ranked Slask Wroclaw faced 3rd placed MKS DG. Guests from Wroclaw (22-1) defeated host MKS DG (14-9) 87-78. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-78. Slask Wroclaw made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for point guard Marcin Flieger (182-84, agency: Promotex) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 4 assists. The former international guard Pawel Kikowski (193-86, agency: Limelight Hoops) helped adding 21 points. Guard Mateusz Dziemba (194-92) responded with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Lukasz Grzegorzewski (192-84) scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Slask Wroclaw and five MKS DG players scored in double figures. Slask Wroclaw have an impressive series of twenty two victories in a row. They maintain first place with 22-1 record. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 42-24 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Astoria Bydg. dominated on the defensive end, holding Znicz Basket to just 7 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Znicz Basket 49-33 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Znicz Basket was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. There was no surprise in Pozoan where 16th ranked AZS PP (3-19) was defeated by twelfth ranked AZS Radex (11-12) 62-58 on Sunday. AZS PP trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 18-11 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 58-62 at the end of the game. The best player for the winners was center Karol Pytys (202-85) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. point guard Lukasz Pacocha (182-82, agency: Promotex) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Four AZS Radex players scored in double figures. Center Adam Metelski (208-83, college: Cal-Irvine) produced 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and guard Tomasz Gierwazik (187-88) added 16 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for AZS Radex. They moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Znicz Basket. No shocking result in a game in Lublin where ninth ranked WIKANA Start (12-11) defeated 14th ranked SKK Siedlce (5-17) 75-64 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by WIKANA Start. SKK Siedlce was better in third quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded SKK Siedlce 39-28 including 25 on the defensive glass. SKK Siedlce was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was point guard Lukasz Wilczek (189-86) who had a triple-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Swingman Tomasz Celej (198-78, agency: Promotex) chipped in 24 points and 5 rebounds. point guard Radoslaw Basinski (188-78) produced 6 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists and Kamil Sulima (192-80) added 15 points respectively for the guests. Very important is a home loss of second ranked AZS Kutno (16-6) against fourth ranked MOSiR Krosno (14-9) on Saturday night. Host AZS Kutno was defeated by MOSiR Krosno in a tough game in Kutno 72-76. AZS Kutno was ahead by 6 points after three quarters before a 22-12 charge of MOSiR Krosno, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to AZS Kutno's 18. Point guard Dariusz Oczkowicz (183-81) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 7 rebounds. point guard Kamil Laczynski (180-89) contributed with 14 points and 8 assists for the winners. Four AZS Kutno players scored in double figures. MOSiR Krosno moved-up to third place, which they share with Sokol Lancut and MKS DG. AZS Kutno at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. MOSiR Krosno will play against bottom-ranked AZS PP (#16) in Pozoan in the next round which should be an easy win for them. AZS Kutno will play on the road against Spojnia (#7) in Stargard and hopes to get back on the winning track.

P.Cukier SIDEn - Polonia 77-79

A very interesting game took place in Torun. It ended with only two-point home defeat of higher ranked P.Cukier SIDEn (12-11) to eleventh ranked Polonia (12-11) 79-77 in the fight for the sixth place. The guests were already 18 points ahead at halftime and as many as 20 after three quarters before a 25-7 last quarter charge of P.Cukier SIDEn cut the lead to 79-77 at the end of the game. Strangely P.Cukier SIDEn outrebounded Polonia 41-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Polonia especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Grzegorz Kukielka (192-83, agency: Promotex) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Tomasz Zablocki (202-78, agency: Promotex) accounted for 24 points for the winning side. Four Polonia players scored in double figures. The former international guard Lukasz Zytko (181-81) came up with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and forward Aleks Perka (201-87, college: Rice, agency: Stanley International) added 15 points and 10 rebounds respectively for P.Cukier SIDEn in the defeat. P.Cukier SIDEn's coach Eugeniusz Kijewski tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Polonia moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated P.Cukier SIDEn. Polonia's next round opponent will be SKK Siedlce (#14) at home and are hoping to win another game.

Sokol Lancut - Stal Ostrow 88-85

The most exciting game of round 23 in the 1Liga took place in Lancut. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Stal Ostrow (12-11) to fifth ranked Sokol Lancut (14-9) 88-85 on Saturday evening. Stal Ostrow was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 21-17 charge of Sokol Lancut, which allowed them to win the game. They made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game, while Stal Ostrow only scored seven points from the stripe. 26 personal fouls committed by Stal Ostrow helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Damian Pieloch (195-89) who scored 28 points. Forward Kacper Mlynarski (200-92) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds. Four Sokol Lancut players scored in double figures. Guard Marcin Kalowski (191-80) produced 31 points (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) and power forward Wojciech Zurawski (199-76) added 8 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Sokol Lancut moved-up to third place, which they share with MOSiR Krosno and MKS DG. Newly promoted Stal Ostrow keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Sokol Lancut is looking forward to face WIKANA Start (#10) in Lublin in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Very expected game in Stargard where 15th ranked UMKS Kielce (4-20) was defeated by eighth ranked Spojnia (12-11) 67-62 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 67-62. The best player for the winners was forward Hubert Pabian (202-89, agency: Promotex) who scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Tomasz Stepien (193-86) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four Spojnia players scored in double figures. Forward Lukasz Fafara (194-84) produced 14 points and 4 assists and forward Rafal Krol (198-87) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Spojnia. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams. UMKS Kielce lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fifteenth position with 20 games lost. Spojnia will face league's second-placed AZS Kutno at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. UMKS Kielce will play against Astoria Bydg. (#13) in Bydgoszcz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
