The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute susprises and upsets. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with derby games and favorites losing the games.

The most exciting game of round 18 in the 2Liga took place in Warszawa. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked Legia (6-8) to second ranked PWiK Piaseczno (10-4) 71-69 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Legia. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 18-11 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Legia outrebounded PWiK Piaseczno 44-32 including 31 on the defensive glass. 26 personal fouls committed by Legia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for center Wojciech Bocianowski (206-86, college: Caldwell) who led his team to a victory with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Dominik Majewski (185-83) contributed with 20 points and 4 steals for the winners. Forward Piotr Nawrot (195-84, college: Williston St. JC) replied with 25 points for Legia. Legia's coach Piotr Bakun tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. PWiK Piaseczno maintains second position in Group C with 10-4 record having five points less than leader Wilki Morskie. Legia at the other side dropped to the seventh place with eight games lost. They share the position with Handlopex AZS and Pulaski Warka. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Important game to mention about took place in Rzeszow. Seventh ranked Handlopex AZS (6-8) saved a 1-point victory at home edging higher ranked Rosa II Radom (7-7) 58-57 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Rosa II Radom. Power forward Piotr Mis (204-77) scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the charge for the winners and Krzysztof Banys chipped in 14 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Robert Cetnar (197-88) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Handlopex AZS moved-up to fifth place in Group C, which they share with Legia and Pulaski Warka. Rosa II Radom at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Tur Bielsk Pdl.. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked SMS PZKosz (10-5) against seventh ranked MKS Skierniew. (7-8) on Saturday night. Visiting SMS PZKosz was crushed by MKS Skierniew. in Skierniewice 96-65. Marcin Krajewski notched a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort. Even 10 points and 4 assists by Stanferd Sanny did not help to save the game for SMS PZKosz. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. MKS Skierniew. moved-up to fifth place in Group A, which they share with Korsarz Gdansk and Basket Pila. Loser SMS PZKosz keeps the second position with five games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
An interesting game for WKK Wroclaw (12-4) which hosted in Wroclaw second-best Pogon Prudnik (12-4). Third ranked WKK Wroclaw had an easy win 113-48. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Pogon Prudnik. The best player for the winners was Jakub Koelner who scored 21 points (perfect from downtown making all seven shots !!!). WKK Wroclaw's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. WKK Wroclaw have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in Group B, which they share with defeated Pogon Prudnik. WKK Wroclaw's next round opponent will be Alba Chorzow (#8) on the road where they are favorite. Pogon Prudnik will play against the league's leader AZS AWF K-ce (#1) in Katowice and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
And finally the game worth to mention about is Mickiewicz's win against 5th ranked Tychy 82-73. It was a good game for Michal Moralewicz who led his team to a victory with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Mickiewicz (6-11) moved-up to seventh place in Group B, which they share with Alba Chorzow. Newly promoted Tychy keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Mickiewicz will face higher ranked GTK Gliwice (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tychy will play against Sudety in Jelenia Gora and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 18:
In Group A GTK Gdynia was smashed by Basket Pila on the road 92-64. Ksiezak Lowicz won against Korsarz Gdansk on its own court 91-85. Notec unfortunately lost to Wilki Morskie in Szczecin 72-77. Suchy Las recorded a loss to Trefl II Sopot at home 65-80.
In Group B HK Zory were defeated by Sudety on the opponent's court 74-58. Nysa Klodzko was beaten by GTK Gliwice in a home game 51-63. Alba Chorzow lost to Wschowa on the road 70-83.
In Group C AZS AGH Alstom unfortunately lost to Wisla AWF Kr. on its own court 57-65.
The most impressive performance of 18th round was 14 points and 19 rebounds by Wojciech Rogacewicz of Basket Pila.

Group A
Basket Pila - GTK Gdynia 92-64

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Basket Pila (7-8) crushed at home 8th ranked GTK Gdynia (5-10) 92-64 on Saturday. The game without a history. Basket Pila led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding GTK Gdynia to just 6 points in third quarter. They outrebounded GTK Gdynia 58-30 including a 47-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Basket Pila looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by GTK Gdynia's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Basket Pila made 9 blocks. It was a good game for forward Wojciech Rogacewicz (203-86, college: Mount Olive) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 19 rebounds. Forward Lukasz Krzeminski (200-80) contributed with 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Basket Pila players scored in double figures. Forward Filip Put (195-93) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Przemyslaw Zolnierewicz (170-95) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for GTK Gdynia. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Basket Pila moved-up to fifth place in Group A, which they share with Korsarz Gdansk and MKS Skierniew. GTK Gdynia at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Wilki Morskie - Notec 77-72

Very predictable result when first ranked Wilki Morskie (14-1) won against 9th ranked Notec (5-10) in Szczecin 77-72 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory.
