The most exciting game of round 24 in the 1Liga took place in Stargard. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-best AZS Kutno (16-7) to seventh ranked Spojnia (13-11) 79-76 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-76. It was a good game for guard Tomasz Stepien (193-86) who led his team to a victory with 19 points. Forward Lukasz Ratajczak (204-86, agency: Promotex) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Forward Jakub Dluski (200-87) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for AZS Kutno. Spojnia have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Stal Ostrow and Start Lublin. AZS Kutno lost third consecutive game. They keep the second position with seven games lost. Spojnia is looking forward to face AZS PP (#15) in Pozoan in the next round and are hoping to win another game. AZS Kutno will play at home against Astoria Bydg. (#13) in Bydgoszcz and is hoping to win this game.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked MOSiR Krosno (14-10) against sixteenth ranked AZS PP (4-19) on Saturday night. Host MOSiR Krosno was edged by AZS PP in a tough game in Krosno 75-78. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of MOSiR Krosno. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Pawel Hybiak (173-89) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and Adam Metelski who added 17 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was point guard Dariusz Oczkowicz (183-81) with 24 points and 8 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. AZS PP moved-up to fifteenth place. MOSiR Krosno at the other side keeps the third position with ten games lost. They share it with Sokol Lancut and MKS DG. AZS PP will play against higher ranked Spojnia (#7) in Stargard in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. MOSiR Krosno will play on the road against P.Cukier SIDEn (#11) in Torun and hopes to get back on the winning track.
1Liga top team - Slask Wroclaw (23-1) added another victory to their record on Sunday. This time they beat twelfth ranked Znicz Basket (11-13) 75-69. The winners were led by Radoslaw Hyzy who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Slask Wroclaw's coach Jerzy Chudeusz used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 16 points and 9 rebounds by Przemyslaw Szymanski did not help to save the game for Znicz Basket. Slask Wroclaw have an impressive 23-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 23-1 record. Znicz Basket lost third consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with 13 games lost. Slask Wroclaw will meet bottom-ranked UMKS Kielce (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Znicz Basket will play against Stal Ostrow (#6) in Ostrow Wlkp. and hope to secure a win.
The game in Ostrow Wlkp. was also worth to mention about. 4th ranked MKS DG (14-10) played at the court of sixth ranked Stal Ostrow (13-11). Stal Ostrow managed to secure a 4-point victory 95-91. The best player for the winners was Wojciech Zurawski who scored 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Stal Ostrow's coach Mikolaj Czaja allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Stal Ostrow maintains sixth position with 13-11 record, which they share with Spojnia and Start Lublin. MKS DG at the other side dropped to the third place with ten games lost. Stal Ostrow's next round opponent will be Znicz Basket (#12) in Pruszkow where they are favorite. MKS DG will play at home against WIKANA Start (#8) in Lublin.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Polonia (12-12) and SKK Siedlce (6-17), which took place in Przemysl. Higher ranked Polonia lost at home to fourteenth ranked SKK Siedlce 60-72 on Saturday. It was a good game for Marcin Chodkiewicz who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. SKK Siedlce maintains fourteenth position with 6-17 record. Loser Polonia dropped to the ninth place with 12 games lost. SKK Siedlce will face higher ranked Sokol Lancut (#5) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 24: bottom-ranked UMKS Kielce was beaten by Astoria Bydg. on the road 86-75. Start Lublin destroyed Sokol Lancut on its own court 84-63. P.Cukier SIDEn unfortunately lost to AZS Radex in Szczecin 76-81.
The most impressive performance of 24th round was 16 points and 18 rebounds by Marcel Wilczek of Start Lublin.


Astoria Bydg. - UMKS Kielce 86-75

No shocking result in a game when thirteenth ranked Astoria Bydg. (10-14) beat bottom-ranked UMKS Kielce (4-21) in Bydgoszcz 86-75 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 15-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-75. Astoria Bydg. dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to UMKS Kielce's 36. Astoria Bydg. forced 19 UMKS Kielce turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for forward Wojciech Fras (203-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Dorian Szyttenholm (194-83) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Swingman Marcin Wrobel (200-87) replied with 21 points and 9 rebounds and forward Rafal Krol (198-87) added 14 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for UMKS Kielce. Five Astoria Bydg. and four UMKS Kielce players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Astoria Bydg. maintains thirteenth position with 10-14 record. UMKS Kielce lost fifth consecutive game. UMKS Kielce at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay dead last with 21 lost games. Astoria Bydg. will face league's second-placed AZS Kutno on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. UMKS Kielce will play against the league's leader Slask Wroclaw (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.

The winners were led by the former international forward Radoslaw Hyzy (203-77) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Marcin Flieger (182-84, agency: Promotex) supported him with 14 points. Start Lublin - Sokol Lancut 84-63

There was an upset when higher ranked Sokol Lancut (14-10) was smashed by tenth ranked WIKANA Start (13-11) in Lublin 84-63 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by WIKANA Start. Sokol Lancut was better in second period 28-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. WIKANA Start dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Sokol Lancut's 28. WIKANA Start forced 19 Sokol Lancut turnovers and outrebounded them 48-26 including a 21-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for power forward Marcel Wilczek (204-86, agency: Promotex) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 18 rebounds. point guard Lukasz Wilczek (189-86) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Five WIKANA Start players scored in double figures. WIKANA Start's coach Dominik Derwisz felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Kacper Mlynarski (200-92) replied with 30 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Bartosz Czerwonka (188-89) added 7 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Sokol Lancut. WIKANA Start have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Spojnia and Stal Ostrow. Loser Sokol Lancut dropped to the third position with ten games lost. WIKANA Start will face higher ranked MKS DG (#4) in Dabrowa Gornicza in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sokol Lancut will play at home against SKK Siedlce.

MOSiR Krosno - AZS PP 75-78

Very important is a home loss of third ranked MOSiR Krosno (14-10) against sixteenth ranked AZS PP (4-19) on Saturday night. Host MOSiR Krosno was edged by AZS PP in a tough game in Krosno 75-78. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of MOSiR Krosno. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But MOSiR Krosno won third quarter 21-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded MOSiR Krosno 39-28 including 25 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Pawel Hybiak (173-89) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and center Adam Metelski (208-83, college: Cal-Irvine) who added 17 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was point guard Dariusz Oczkowicz (183-81) with 24 points and 8 assists and forward Marcin Salamonik (202-83) scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. AZS PP moved-up to fifteenth place. MOSiR Krosno at the other side keeps the third position with ten games lost. They share it with Sokol Lancut and MKS DG. AZS PP will play against higher ranked Spojnia (#7) in Stargard in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. MOSiR Krosno will play on the road against P.Cukier SIDEn (#11) in Torun and hopes to get back on the winning track.

This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-best AZS Kutno (16-7) to seventh ranked Spojnia (13-11) 79-76 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-76. It was a good game for guard Tomasz Stepien (193-86) who led his team to a victory with 19 points. Forward Lukasz Ratajczak (204-86, agency: Promotex) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Forward Jakub Dluski (200-87) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and point guard Krzysztof Jakobczyk (183-86) added 24 points and 7 assists in the effort for AZS Kutno. There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked AZS Radex (12-12) won against 9th ranked P.Cukier SIDEn (12-12) in Szczecin 81-76 on Saturday. P.Cukier SIDEn was trailing by 8 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 27-21 charge of AZS Radex, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for point guard Lukasz Pacocha (182-82, agency: Promotex) who led his team to a victory with 21 points. Guard Maciej Raczynski (191-84, agency: Promotex) contributed with 21 points for the winners. AZS Radex's coach Zbigniew Majcherek used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Power forward Adam Lisewski (206-80) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and guard Piotr Smigielski (190-89) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for P.Cukier SIDEn.
