   #1. This week's number one is an international center Marcin Gortat (211-84, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA. He could not help the Phoenix Suns (21-39) in their last game. Despite Gortat's very good performance the Phoenix Suns lost 87-97 at home to the San Antonio Spurs. He had a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 12 rebounds. Gortat also added 3 assists and 3 blocks in 40 minutes on the court. Gortat has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 11.2ppg, 8.5rpg, 1.3apg, 1.6bpg, 2FGP: 52.2% and FT: 65.7% in the 60 games he played so far. Gortat is currently a member of the Polish senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international power forward Maciej Lampe (211-85, currently plays in Euroleague), who plays in Spain. He was not able to help Caja Laboral (4-5) in their last game on Thursday. Despite Lampe's very good performance the sixth-placed Caja Laboral was defeated 66-62 on their home court in Vitoria by the higher-ranked Maccabi T-A (#5) in the group F of Euroleague. He recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 12 rebounds. Lampe belongs to league's best rebounders and is ranked #7. He has very reliable stats this season: 13.2ppg, 6.2rpg, 2FGP: 48.5%, 3FGP: 32.4% and FT: 76.9%. Lampe has a dual citizenship: Polish and Swedish. He is in the roster of the Polish senior national team.

The Polish player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced international forward Michal Ignerski (207-80, agency: Stanley International, college: Mississippi St., currently plays in Italy). Ignerski was the major contributor in a Banco di Sardegna Sassari's victory against one of league's weakest teams VL Pesaro (5-15) 87-76 in the Italian SerieA on Sunday night. He scored 21 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 29 minutes. Banco di Sardegna Sassari (16-4) is placed second in the SerieA. It's Ignerski's first season with the team. Ignerski has relatively good stats this year: 13.2ppg, 5.3rpg, 2FGP: 53.6%, 3FGP: 31.9% and FT: 73.7% in the 20 games. He is also a member of the Polish senior national team.

   #4. Guard David Logan (185-82, college: Indianapolis, currently plays in Euroleague) faced previously mentioned Maciej Lampe in the Euroleague last game. Logan led his Israeli team Maccabi T-A to a victory against the closely-ranked Caja Laboral (4-5) 66-62. He scored 16 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. This season Logan has relatively solid stats: 10.2ppg, 2.5rpg and 1.1spg. He is a naturalized American. Logan used to play for the Polish national team back in 2009. He played also for WTK Anwil Wloclawek in Polish league.

   #5. International center Szymon Szewczyk (209-82, currently plays in Italy) led Umana Venezia to a victory over the closely-ranked Enel Brindisi (10-10) 76-68 in the Italian SerieA last Sunday. Szewczyk was MVP of the game. He scored 19 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 30 minutes. Umana Reyer Venezia (11-9) is placed seventh in the SerieA. Szewczyk has reliable stats this year: 11.5ppg and 5.4rpg in the 18 games. He plays currently for the Polish national team.

   #6. Center Michal Hlebowicki (204-76, currently plays in Latvia) contributed to Jekabpils' victory against the sixth-ranked Jelgava (10-13) 96-88 in the Latvian LBL in Sunday night's game. He had a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 13 rebounds in 29 minutes. BK Jekabpils (16-9) is placed first in the LBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Hlebowicki's overall stats are: 9.0ppg and 6.7rpg in the 24 games. He is a former international player as he played for the Polish senior team eleven years ago.

International swingman Thomas Kelati (195-82, agency: Beo Basket, college: Washington St., currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for Valencia Basket (13-9) in their game against CAI Zaragoza (13-9) in the Spanish ACB. Kelati recorded 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Valencia Basket was defeated 76-62 on the road by the lower-ranked CAI Zaragoza (#7). Kelati's stats this season are: 10.8ppg, 2.6rpg, 1.6apg and 1.1spg. He is also Polish national team player.

Gruszecki scored 14 points in a mere 19 minutes. The University of Texas at Arlington has a solid 10-5 conference record this season. It was Texas Arlington's fifth consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the NCAA Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Gruszecki's total stats are: 8.3ppg and 2.9rpg in the 31 games. He used to play for the Polish U20 national team back in 2008.

U20 international forward Tomasz Gielo (206-93, currently studies in the States) contributed to an overtime Liberty's victory against the Austin Peay State University (3-12) 79-73 in the NCAA on Saturday night. Gielo scored 12 points and added 3 assists. The Liberty University has not so impressive 5-10 conference record this season. His team will play only one more game in the NCAA Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Gielo has averaged so far 8.3ppg and 2.9rpg. He is also in the roster of the Polish U20 national team.

   #10. Power forward Jakub Wojciechowski (210-90, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help Torino (20-4) in their game against Mirandola (11-13) in the Italian Nazionale A (third division). He was the second best scorer with 9 points. Wojciechowski also added 10 rebounds in 24 minutes. But the league leader Torino lost 73-83 on the opponent's court to the much lower-ranked (#11) Mirandola. They ended the series of eight consecutive victories. Wojciechowski has very impressive stats this year: 15.8ppg and 8.8rpg in the 24 games. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Polish National Team roster.

   #11. Former U20 international forward Olek Czyz (200-90, agency: Priority Sports, college: Nevada, currently plays in Italy) managed to help Acea Virtus Roma to win against the tenth-ranked Juvecaserta 66-64 in the Italian SerieA in Sunday night's game. Czyz scored only 2 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Czyz has averaged so far 6.6ppg and 4.6rpg. He used to play for the Polish U20 national team three years ago.

   #12. International center Przemyslaw Karnowski (216-93, is currently at the American university) contributed to an easy victory against the University of San Diego crushing them 81-50 in the NCAA last Saturday. Karnowski scored 8 points in 15 minutes. Karnowski has averaged so far 6.6ppg and 4.6rpg in the 20 games. He is also in the roster of the Polish national team.

   #13. Former U18 international center Pawel Mroz (215-84, currently plays in Czech Republic) couldn't help Basketbal Svitavy in their game against B&W Opava in the Czech Republic NBL. Mroz recorded 9 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks. His team was badly defeated by 18 points 90-72. This season Mroz has very high stats. He averages: 15.1ppg and 6.8rpg. Mroz used to play for the Polish U18 national team eleven years ago.

   #14. Former U18 international center Szymon Lukasiak (208-87, college: Jacksonville, currently plays in Sweden) contributed to Nassjo's victory against the closely-ranked KFUM Jamtland 82-73 in the Swedish Basketligan in Friday night's game. He scored 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 24 minutes. Lukasiak has averaged so far 9.8ppg and 5.1rpg in the 30 games. He used to play for the Polish U18 national team back in 2005.

   #15. Former international center Cezary Trybanski (218-79, currently plays in Lithuania) contributed to Dzukija's victory against the eighth-ranked Statyba 90-77 in the Lithuanian NKL (second division) on Saturday night. Trybanski recorded 6 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 26 minutes. Trybanski belongs to league's best rebounders (ranked #2) and also on the list of best blockers (first place). This year he has very good stats: 12.7ppg, 10.4rpg and 3.1bpg in the 33 games. Trybanski used to play for the Polish national team twelve years ago.


The list of other players, who all have Polish passport but never been selected to any of Polish national teams:

   #1. Gal Mekel (190-PG-88, college: Wichita St., currently plays in Israel) was the major contributor in a Maccabi Haifa's victory against the league leader Maccabi Ashdod (18-0) 95-85 in the Israeli Winner League on Monday night. Mekel scored 18 points and added 9 passes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Maccabi Bazan Haifa (11-7) is placed fourth in the Winner League. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Mekel is ranked first on the list of the best passers in the league. This season he has very good stats: 13.3ppg, 2.3rpg, 5.8apg and 1.4spg. Mekel has a dual citizenship: Polish and Israeli.

   #2. Konrad Wysocki (201-F-82, agency: Pro One Sports, college: Princeton, currently plays in EuroChallenge) led his German team EWE Baskets to a victory over the third-ranked Okapi Aalstar (2-4) 82-74 in the EuroChallenge on Tuesday night. Wysocki was the best player in that game. He scored 12 points in a mere 16 minutes. EWE Baskets Oldenburg (5-1) is placed first in group L. Wysocki's team will play only one more game in the EuroChallenge Top 16. And now that game is very crucial. This year Wysocki's total stats are: 7.5ppg and 3.9rpg in the 10 games he played so far. He is another player who holds two passports: Polish and German.

   #3. Vitaliy Kovalenko (203-F-84, currently plays in Ukraine), who plays in the Ukrainian Superleague could not help Khimik (18-13) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Kovalenko's good performance Khimik was defeated 82-68 on the road by the higher-ranked Mykolaiv (#3). He scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Kovalenko's total stats this season are: 8.3ppg and 2.9rpg. He has both Polish and Ukrainian nationalities.

   #4. Patrick Wischnewski (191-G-87, currently plays in Germany), who plays in the German ProB (third division) was not able to help Leitershofen (9-11) in their last game. Despite Wischnewski's very good performance Leitershofen (#8) lost 80-84 in Langen to the higher-ranked (#6) TV 1862 in the Group South. He was the second best scorer with 19 points in 31 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. Wischnewski's stats this year are: 14.5ppg, 1.4rpg and 1.1spg in the 18 games. He also holds two passports: German and Polish. Despite Wischnewski's Polish nationality, he previously played for the German U16 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Polish team.

   #5. Robert Lewandowski (208-F-89, college: Texas Tech, currently plays in Czech Republic), who plays in the Czech Republic NBL was not able to secure a victory for BK Usti nad Labem (7-20) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite Lewandowski's good performance BK Usti nad Labem (#5) was defeated 91-87 in J.Hradec by the lower-ranked BK Lions Hradec (#7) in the Group A2. He scored 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Lewandowski averaged so far 13.9ppg, 5.3rpg and 1.5apg. He is a naturalized American. Lewandowski used to play for PGE Turow Zgorzelec in Polish league.

   #6. Dominik Malinowski (198-SG-91, currently plays in Germany) contributed to a SG Schwelmer Baskets' victory against the ninth-ranked Hannover Tigers 76-71 in the German ProB (third division) last Saturday. Malinowski scored 7 points. Malinowski has averaged so far 7.2ppg, 3.5rpg and 2.1apg. He holds both Polish and German passports. Despite Malinowski's Polish nationality, he previously played for the German U18 national team and probably cannot be called to the Polish team.

   #7. Marek Olesinski (203-F, currently plays college basketball in the States) managed to help U.S. Air Force Academy to win against the University of Wyoming 72-66 in the NCAA in Tuesday night's game. He scored only 2 points. Olesinski averaged so far 12.7ppg, 10.4rpg and 3.1bpg. He is a naturalized American. Strangely Olesinski has never played in Poland.

   #8. Maciej Baginski (195-SF-95, currently plays in Iceland) helped Njardvik win their game against one of league's weakest teams KFI crushing them 119-93 in the Icelandic Dominos League last Sunday. He scored 10 points in 16 minutes. Baginski has averaged so far 8.4ppg and 3.3rpg in the 19 games. He holds both Polish and Icelandic passports. Despite Baginski's Polish nationality, he currently plays for the Icelandic U18 national team.
