   #1. This week's number one is an international swingman Mateusz Ponitka (196-93, currently plays in Basketball Champions League). He was the major contributor in a Pinar Karsiyaka's victory against the leader Besiktas (12-2) 75-70 in the Basketball Champions League in Wednesday night's game. Ponitka recorded 22 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 35 minutes on the court. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group B. Pinar Karsiyaka SK Izmir (9-5) is placed second. This year Ponitka averages: 9.8ppg, 4.4rpg, 1.8apg, 1.4spg, 2FGP: 51.7%, 3FGP: 31.0% in 16 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Polish senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an international power forward Maciej Lampe (211-85, currently plays in China). Lampe could not help Leopards (26-12) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite his very good performance Leopards were edged 95-92 on the road by the higher-ranked Sharks (#3). Lampe recorded a double-double by scoring 32 points and getting 13 rebounds. Lampe has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 23.7ppg, 12.8rpg, 2.0apg, 1.3spg, 3FGP: 35.7% and FT: 74.6%. Lampe has a dual citizenship: Polish and Swedish. He is in the roster of the Polish senior national team.

   #3. The Polish player who performed third best last week abroad was former international power forward Damian Kulig (205-87, agency: BeoBasket, currently plays in Turkey). Kulig led Banvit to a victory over the 13th-ranked Demir IBB (6-13) crushing them 89-65 in the Turkish BSL on Saturday night. He was MVP of the game. Kulig recorded 14 points in 22 minutes. Banvit Basketbol Kulubu (14-5) is placed fourth in the BSL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Kulig's overall stats are: 8.6ppg, 4.8rpg, 2FGP: 63.5%(47-74), 3FGP: 48.4%(15-31) and FT: 73.5% in 19 games. He played for the Polish national team two years ago.

   #4. An experienced guard David Logan (185-82, college: Indianapolis, currently plays in Italy) was not able to help Scandone AV (13-7) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Logan's good performance Scandone AV was defeated 91-87 on the opponent's court by the lower-ranked Brescia (#8). He scored 10 points and added 4 passes. It was his first game for Scandone AV this season. Logan is a naturalized American. He used to play for the Polish national team back in 2009. Logan played also for WTK Anwil Wloclawek in Polish league.

   #5. International point guard A.J. Slaughter (191-87, also represented by BeoBasket, college: W.Kentucky, currently plays in France) contributed to a Strasbourg IG's victory against the closely-ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque (11-9) 72-64 in the French ProA last Saturday. He scored 9 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 30 minutes. Strasbourg IG (11-9) is placed sixth in the ProA. It's Slaughter's first season with the team. Slaughter has relatively good stats this year: 13.7ppg, 2.6rpg and 3.1apg in 20 games. He is a naturalized American. Slaughter plays currently for the Polish national team. Strangely he has never played in Poland.

Swingman Adam Waczynski (199-89, currently plays in EuroCup) helped his Spanish team Unicaja Malaga win their game against the league leader Bayern Muenchen (6-0) 82-67 in the Eurocup on Friday night. Waczynski scored 11 points. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Unicaja Malaga (3-3) is placed second in the Eurocup. Waczynski's total stats this season are: 8.7ppg and 1.9rpg. He is an international player who is currently on the senior Polish National Team roster.

Former international center Marcin Gortat (214-84, currently plays in NBA) helped Washington Wizards win their game against the Golden State Warriors (50-11) 112-108 in the NBA in Tuesday night's game. Gortat had a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting the same number of rebounds in 23 minutes. The Washington Wizards have 36-24 record this season. Gortat is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Wizards' roster. He has very impressive stats this season: 11.7ppg, 11.2rpg and 1.6apg in 60 games. Gortat used to play for the Polish national team two years ago.

Center Adam Lapeta (217-87, agency: Alti Sport, currently plays in Lithuania) was not able to secure a victory for one of league's weakest teams Lietuvos rytas (16-8) in their game against Lietkabelis (18-6) in the Lithuanian LKL. Lapeta scored 5 points in 13 minutes. Lietuvos rytas lost 77-86 in Panevezys to the second-ranked Lietkabelis. This year Lapeta's total stats are: 4.5ppg and 3.4rpg in 23 games. He plays currently for the Polish national team.

   #9. Former international shooting guard Dardan Berisha (191-88, currently plays in Italy) couldn't help Juvecaserta (9-11) in their game against Armani Milano (17-3) in the Italian Serie A. Berisha cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 3 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. It was his first game for Juvecaserta this season. Juvecaserta was defeated 78-74 in Milano by the leading Armani. Berisha used to play for the Polish national team two years ago.

Power forward Jakub Wojciechowski (210-90, currently plays in Italy) managed to help Vanoli Cremona in a victory against the third-ranked Umana Venezia (12-8) 91-82 in the Italian Serie A in Sunday night's game. He scored only 4 points in 9 minutes on the court. Vanoli Cremona (6-14) is located at the very bottom in the Serie A. Wojciechowski has averaged so far 4.5ppg and 2.4rpg in 17 games. He is a former international player as four years ago he still played for the Polish senior national team.

   #11. Former U20 international forward Mathieu Wojciechowski (203-92, currently plays in France) couldn't help Limoges CSP Elite in their game against Chalon/Saor in the French ProA. Wojciechowski cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 3 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. His team was defeated 82-70. Wojciechowski has averaged so far 3.2ppg and 3.3rpg. He used to play for the Polish U20 national team five years ago.

   #12. Former international center Przemyslaw Karnowski (216-93, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA couldn't help the Gonzaga (14-0) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Karnowski's good performance the Gonzaga was defeated 79-71 in Provo by the Brigham Young University. He scored 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. This season Karnowski has relatively solid stats: 12.4ppg, 5.8rpg and 2.0apg. He used to play for the Polish national team back in 2015.

   #13. International forward Tomasz Gielo (205-93, college: Mississippi, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help Joventut in their game against Valencia Basket in the Spanish Liga Endesa. Gielo cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He recorded only 2 points in 15 minutes. His team lost 72-77. Gielo has averaged so far 3.8ppg and 1.7rpg in 21 games. He is also Polish national team player.

   #14. Former U18 international small forward Karol Majchrzak (195-97, agency: Octagon Europe, currently plays in Czech Republic) couldn't help GBA Sparta (5-14) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Majchrzak's good performance the sixth-placed GBA Sparta was defeated 89-83 at home by the second-ranked BK Prostejov B in the Places 13-20 group. He recorded 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Majchrzak has averaged so far 6.8ppg, 2.8rpg and 1.9apg. He used to play for the Polish U18 national team back in 2015.

   #15. International forward Maciej Bender (208-97, currently studies in the States) couldn't help the W.Virginia in their game against the Baylor University in the NCAA. Bender cannot count Monday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points and blocked 2 blocks. His team was defeated 71-62. Bender has averaged so far 1.8ppg and 1.4rpg. He is also in the roster of the Polish national team.


The list of other players, who all have Polish passport but never been selected to any of Polish national teams:

   #1. Andy Mazurczak (188-G, agency: Duran International, college: Wisc.-Parkside, currently plays in Greece) could not help Kavala (5-13) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance Kavala was defeated 82-73 at home by the higher-ranked Psychiko (#8). Mazurczak was the second best scorer with 17 points. He also added 7 rebounds. This season Mazurczak has relatively solid stats: 12.6ppg, 3.6rpg, 4.3apg and 1.3spg. He is a naturalized American. Apparently Mazurczak has never played in Poland.

   #2. Nimrod Tishman (197-PG-91, currently plays in Israel) led Maccabi Ashdod to a victory against the closely-ranked Hapoel Eilat (12-9) 93-82 in the Israeli Winner League on Monday night. He scored 13 points and added 3 passes in a mere 15 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Maccabi Ashdod (16-3) is placed second in the Winner League. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Tishman's total stats are: 4.0ppg and 2.5apg in four games he played so far. He has a dual citizenship: Polish and Israeli. Despite Tishman's Polish passport, he previously played for the Israeli U20 national team and is probably not eligible to play for the Polish team.

   #3. Experienced Konrad Wysocki (202-F-82, college: Princeton, currently plays in Germany) was the major contributor in a Crailsheim Merlins' victory against the closely-ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (16-9) crushing them 101-62 in the German ProA (second division) in Sunday night's game. Wysocki recorded 13 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Crailsheim Merlins (20-5) is placed second in the ProA. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. This season Wysocki has relatively solid stats: 10.1ppg, 5.0rpg and 1.8apg. He is another player who holds two passports: Polish and German.

   #4. Maciej Baginski (195-SF-95, currently plays in Iceland) was not able to help Thor Thorl (10-10) in their last game. Despite Baginski's good performance Thor Thorl was edged 74-71 on their home court in Thorlakshofn by the lower-ranked (#7) IR. He was the second best scorer with 12 points. Baginski also added 4 rebounds in 30 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This year Baginski has relatively solid stats: 14.5ppg, 4.2rpg, 1.8apg and 1.5spg in 20 games. He has both Polish and Icelandic nationalities. Despite Baginski's Polish passport, he previously played for the Icelandic U18 national team and probably cannot be called to the Polish team.

   #5. David Brembly (197-G/F-93, currently plays in Germany) was not able to secure a victory for Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (5-10) in their game against BG Goettingen (6-6) in the German BBL. Despite Gilinski's Polish nationality, he previously played for the Israeli U20 national team.

   #8. Aleksander Lichodzijewski (204-PF-84, currently plays in Belgium) couldn't help Basic-Fit Brussels in their game against Oostende in the Belgian Euromillions League. Lichodzijewski cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points and added 3 assists in 20 minutes. His team lost 76-88. Lichodzijewski has averaged so far 7.7ppg, 3.5rpg and 1.8apg in 21 games. He has Polish and Belgian nationalities.

   #9. Maciej Klimaszewski (203-C-95, currently plays in Iceland) couldn't help Snaefell (19-5) in their last game. Despite Klimaszewski's good performance the league leader Snaefell was badly defeated 102-83 in Hafnarfjordur by the much lower-ranked (#10) Haukar. He was the second best scorer with 10 points. Klimaszewski also added 7 rebounds in 18 minutes. Klimaszewski has averaged so far 4.4ppg and 2.8rpg in 19 games. He holds both Polish and Icelandic passports. Despite Klimaszewski's Polish nationality, he previously played for the Icelandic U18 national team.

   #10. Daniel Motyka (180-PG-92, college: Wisc.-Superior, currently plays in Sweden) helped IK Eos win their game against the sixth-ranked Huddinge crushing them 112-71 in the Swedish Basketettan (second division) in Saturday night's game. Motyka scored 13 points in a mere 19 minutes. Motyka has averaged so far 8.1ppg and 2.7rpg in 15 games.

Poland - Russia 81-78 Poland topped Russia in Hamburg to finish second at the SuperCup 2017. They grabbed an 81-78 win for a 21 record, while Russia lost all three games to finish last.
