PLK round 21 caused change at the leadership position. Sixth defeat of league's leader Twarde Pierniki (16-6) against twelfth ranked Polpharma (12-11) 90-73 was the most important game of the last round. Polpharma forced 20 Twarde Pierniki turnovers. It was a good game for American point guard Anthony Miles (185-89, college: Lamar) who led his team to a victory with 27 points and 8 rebounds. Serbian power forward Uros Mirkovic (205-82, agency: BeoExcell) contributed with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Kyle Weaver (198-86, college: Washington St.) answered with 16 points and 5 assists for Twarde Pierniki. Twarde Pierniki's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Polpharma moved-up to tenth place, which they share with PGE Turow and Szczecin. Twarde Pierniki at the other side still keeps top position with six games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Stelmet ZG who have the same record. Twarde Pierniki will play next round against Wilki Morskie trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Polpharma will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Trefl in Sopot.
The game in Dabrowa Gornicza was also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Stal Ostrow Wlkp. (15-8) played at the court of 5th ranked MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (13-9). Stal Ostrow Wlkp. did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 78-61. The former international power forward Szymon Szewczyk (209-82) stepped up and scored 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Shawn King chipped in 14 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was American point guard Kerron Johnson (183-90, college: Belmont) with 13 points and 4 steals. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Stal Ostrow Wlkp. have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 15-8 record. MKS Dabrowa Gornicza at the other side keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. They share it with Rosa Radom. Stal Ostrow Wlkp. will play against Krosno (#7) at home in the next round. MKS Dabrowa Gornicza will play against Rosa in Radom and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Torun. Loser Krosno dropped to the seventh place with ten games lost. Stelmet will meet at home Energa Czarni (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Krosno will play against Stal Ostrow Wlkp. and hope to secure a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 21: Rosa Radom beat Szczecin on the road 68-63. Energa Czarni won against PGE Turow on its own court 78-72. Start Lublin managed to outperform AZS Koszalin in a road game 79-65. Bottom-ranked Siarka recorded a loss to Trefl Sopot at home 70-79. Anwil defeated Polfarmex Kutno on the opponent's court 95-88. Szczecin beat Asseco in a home game 94-83.
The most impressive performance of 21th round was 14 points and 5 rebounds by Darnell Jackson of Rosa Radom.

Szczecin - Rosa Radom 63-68

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Rosa (13-9) beat 9th ranked Wilki Morskie (12-11) in Szczecin 68-63 on Tuesday. Rosa made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. International swingman Michal Sokolowski (196-92) nailed 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and American power forward Darnell Jackson (206-85, college: Kansas) accounted for 14 points and 5 rebounds. The former international swingman Pawel Kikowski (193-86) came up with 16 points and Michal Nowakowski (202-88) added 7 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Wilki Morskie in the defeat. Wilki Morskie's coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Rosa. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with MKS DG. Loser Wilki Morskie dropped to the tenth position with 11 games lost. They share it with PGE Turow and Polpharma. Rosa will meet at home MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (#5) in the next round. Wilki Morskie will play against the league's second-placed Twarde Pierniki (#2) in Torun and hope to secure a win.

There was a minor upset when 8th ranked PGE Turow (12-11) lost to tenth ranked Energa Czarni (12-10) in Slupsk 72-78 on Saturday. American swingman Chavaughn Lewis (196-93, college: Marist) nailed 11 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and his fellow American import power forward David Kravish (208-92, college: California) accounted for 12 points and 11 rebounds. Five Energa Czarni players scored in double figures. Ukrainian-American forward Denis Ikovlev (200-86, college: Nevada) came up with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and American center Kirk Archibeque (205-84, college: Fort Lewis) added 18 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) respectively for PGE Turow in the defeat. Energa Czarni moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Trefl Sopot. Loser PGE Turow dropped to the tenth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Polpharma and Szczecin. Energa Czarni will meet league's leader Stelmet in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. PGE Turow will play against AZS Polfarmex (#16) and hope to secure a win.

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifteenth ranked TBV Start (6-16) won against on the road 14th ranked AZS Koszalin (7-15) 79-65 on Saturday. Sixth defeat of league's leader Twarde Pierniki (16-6) against twelfth ranked Polpharma (12-11) 90-73 was the most important game of the last round. Polpharma forced 20 Twarde Pierniki turnovers. Twarde Pierniki's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Polpharma moved-up to tenth place, which they share with PGE Turow and Szczecin. Twarde Pierniki at the other side still keeps top position with six games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Stelmet ZG who have the same record. Twarde Pierniki will play next round against Wilki Morskie trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Polpharma will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Trefl in Sopot.

Not a big story in a game when 17th ranked Stabill (3-20) lost to eleventh ranked Trefl (12-10) in Tarnobrzeg 70-79 on Saturday. Serbian power forward Nikola Markovic (208-89) nailed a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and the former international Filip Dylewicz (202-80) accounted for 11 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Jan Grzelinski (180-94, college: Canisius) came up with 14 points and 9 assists and American forward Alex Welsh (200-94, college: Colorado Springs) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Stabill in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Trefl moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Energa Czarni. Stabill lost their seventh game in a row. They stay dead last with 20 lost games. Trefl will meet at home Polpharma (#12) in the next round. Stabill will play against Anwil (#3) in Wloclawek and hope to secure a win.

Canadian center Michael Fraser (203-84, college: Oklah.Baptist) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Grzegorz Grochowski (180-93, agency: AB Agency) added 11 points, 7 assists and 5 steals respectively for AZS Polfarmex in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Anwil. They maintain third place with 15-7 record behind leader Stelmet ZG. AZS Polfarmex lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the sixteenth position with 18 games lost. Anwil will meet at home bottom-ranked Stabill (#17) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. AZS Polfarmex will play against PGE Turow in Zgorzelec and hope to secure a win.

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Asseco (9-13) lost to ninth ranked Wilki Morskie (12-11) in Szczecin 83-94 on Friday. Wilki Morskie outrebounded Asseco 32-19 including 23 on the defensive glass. The former international swingman Pawel Kikowski (193-86) nailed 26 points and 5 assists for the winning side and Guinean-American guard Russell Robinson (185-86) accounted for 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. International guard Filip Matczak (187-93) came up with 23 points and the former international point guard Krzysztof Szubarga (178-84, agency: AB Agency) added 15 points and 7 assists respectively for Asseco in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Asseco's coach Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz tested eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Wilki Morskie went down to tenth position due to points difference, which they share with PGE Turow and Polpharma. Loser Asseco keeps the thirteenth place with 13 games lost. Wilki Morskie will meet league's second-placed Twarde Pierniki in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Asseco will play against TBV Start (#15) in Lublin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
