The Regular Season in PLK just started. There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with extra overtimes and favorites losing the games.

Anwil defeated AZS Koszalin in Wloclawek 93-85. Anwil forced 19 AZS Koszalin turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The former international point guard Kamil Laczynski (183-89) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 assists for the winners and Cape Verdean-Portuguese Ivan Almeida (198-89, college: Stonehill) chipped in 21 points. At the losing side forward Kacper Mlynarski (202-92) responded with 18 points and 5 rebounds. AZS Koszalin will play next round against Twarde Pierniki trying to get back on the winning streak. Anwil will try to continue on its current victory against Miasto Szkla in Krosno.

Power forward Tomasz Andrzejewski (204-79) came up with 14 points and 6 rebounds for Legia in the defeat. Wilki Morskie will play against MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (#4) on the road in the next round. Legia will play against Asseco (#2) to get more than just one victory in their record.

In the last two games of round 1 PGE Turow lost to TBV Start on the opponent's court 83-91. MKS DG managed to outperform Polski Cukier in a home game 89-76. GTK Gliwice lost to Miasto Szkla on the road 76-82. Winless Trefl lost to defending champion Stelmet on its own court 77-84.

King - Legia 86-66

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Legia (0-1) in Szczecin. Visitors were rolled over by Wilki Morskie (1-0) 86-66. Wilki Morskie shot 63.6 percent from the field. Wilki Morskie had a 28-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Wilki Morskie especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. Start used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Zgorzelec 91-83 on Sunday night. Start made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Start especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. American point guard James Washington (182-87, college: Middle Tenn.St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 assists for the winners and his fellow American import swingman Chavaughn Lewis (196-93, college: Marist) chipped in 26 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Five Start players scored in double figures. At the losing side American point guard Myles Mack (175-93, college: Rutgers) responded with 18 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and Bartosz Bochno (193-88) scored 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Start will face Czarni (#13) in Slupsk in the next round which should be an easy win for them. PGE Turow will play at home against BM Slam Stal (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Shelton (208-91, college: Washington St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and naturalized Ukrainian Vitaliy Kovalenko (204-84) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). MKS Dabrowa Gornicza's coach Jacek Winnicki used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side power forward Krzysztof Sulima (204-90) responded with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and international swingman Karol Gruszecki (193-89, college: Texas Arlington) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Four MKS Dabrowa Gornicza and five Twarde Pierniki players scored in double figures. MKS Dabrowa Gornicza will face Wilki Morskie (#8) in Szczecin in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Twarde Pierniki will play on the road against AZS Koszalin and hope to win that game.
