Tiago Pinto
4th placed Galitos-Tley (8-7) fell to seventh ranked Electrico FC (8-7) in overtime by four points 72-76 on Sunday night. It was a good game for Tiago Pinto (183-G-88) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 6 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Galitos-Tley's coach Francisco Edgard rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Electrico FC moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Galitos-Tley. Galitos-Tley lost fourth consecutive game. Electrico FC will face Maia Basket (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Galitos-Tley will play against Povoa (#12).

In the last game of round 15 bottom-ranked Povoa was beaten by Sangalhos on the road 69-65. Fisica lost to Maia Basket on its own court 64-71. Angra unfortunately lost to Oliveirense in Oliveira 82-86. Alges rolled over Guifoes at home 93-62. Illiabum crushed Gaeirense on the opponent's court 80-51.
The most impressive performance of 15th round was 27 points and 6 rebounds by Flavio Gomes of Angra.

Sangalhos - Povoa 69-65

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Sangalhos (8-7) beat at home bottom-ranked Povoa (2-13) 69-65 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 69-65. Sangalhos looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for forward Nuno Bizarro (192-80) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 6 rebounds. Swingman Joao Carmo (183-85) contributed with 17 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four Sangalhos players scored in double figures. American forward Kevin Jolley (197-82, college: Quinnipiac) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds and forward Fabio Fernandes (201-86) added 17 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Povoa. Sangalhos moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Povoa lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Sangalhos will face Gaeirense (#11) in Gaeiras in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Povoa will play on the road against Galitos-Tley in Barreiro.

They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 8-4. Electrico FC forced 26 Galitos-Tley turnovers. It was a good game for guard Tiago Pinto (183-88) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 6 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Guard Tiago Brito (180-85) contributed with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Cape Verdean forward Denis Neves (197-78) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and forward Rui Quintino (196-83) added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Galitos-Tley. It was a good game for center Paulo Diamantino (203-85) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Pedro Catarino (184-90) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. Cape Verdean guard Braima Freire (188-82) answered with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Carlos Dias (197-79) added 15 points in the effort for Fisica. Maia Basket moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Oliveirense. Fisica at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Maia Basket will face higher ranked Electrico FC (#6) in Ponte de Sor in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fisica will play on the road against Angrabasket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There was a surprise result when eighth ranked Oliveirense (7-8) won against 3rd placed Angrabasket (9-6) in Oliveira 86-82 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 10 points at the halftime before their 28-13 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Oliveirense made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Oliveirense outrebounded Angrabasket 38-17 including a 24-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for center Andre Pereira (200-90) who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Spencer Johnson (198-87, college: UMKC) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Cape Verdean swingman Flavio Gomes (194-89) answered with 27 points and 6 rebounds and American power forward Terrence Mack (198-84, college: Rhode Island) added 19 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Angrabasket. Five Oliveirense and four Angrabasket players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Oliveirense maintains eighth place with 7-8 record, which they share with Maia Basket. Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Guifoes (5-10) were outscored on the road by first ranked Alges (14-1) 93-62 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Alges. Guifoes was better in third quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Alges forced 21 Guifoes turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Guifoes' players. It was a good game for American forward DeSean White (203-86, college: Northwood Fl.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Cape Verdean forward Fidel Mendonca (191-84) contributed with 21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Forward Jose Almeida (199-86) answered with 17 points and 8 rebounds and guard Vitor Felix (190-91) added 16 points in the effort for Guifoes. Five Alges and four Guifoes players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Alges have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-1 record. Guifoes at the other side keep the tenth position with ten games lost. Alges will face league's second-placed Illiabum in Ilhavo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Guifoes will play at home against Oliveirense (#8) in Oliveira and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

They maintain second place with 11-4 record having just three points less than leader Alges. Gaeirense lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Illiabum will face league's leader Alges at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gaeirense will play against Sangalhos (#7).
