Here is the weekly review of the top performing Portuguese players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an experienced former international forward Mery Andrade (181-75, college: ODU). She was the major contributor in Lucca's victory against the fifth-ranked Umbertide (13-9) 54-40 in the Italian A1 in Wednesday night's game. Andrade scored 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 40 minutes on the court. Ducato Lucca (12-2) is placed first in the A1. Andrade belongs to league's best passers (ranked #7) and also on the list of most steals (first place). This year she averages: 9.7ppg, 5.5rpg, 2.1apg, 3.3spg, 2FGP: 42.9%, 3FGP: 27.3% and FT: 84.6% in the 23 games she played so far. Andrade played for the Portuguese senior national team three years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to an international guard Carla Nascimento (171-86). She contributed to an easy victory against the seventh-ranked Cajacanarias (13-11) 77-61 in the Spanish LF2 (12th division) last Saturday. Nascimento scored 7 points and had 3 steals. Femenino Caceres (19-4) is placed first in Group A. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Nascimento's overall stats this season are: 7.0ppg, 3.9rpg, 1.8apg, 1.2spg, 3FGP: 57.1%(20-35). She is in the roster of the Portuguese senior national team.

   #3. The Portuguese player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward Debora Escorcio (186-84), who plays in the Spanish LF2 (12th division). Escorcio could not help ADBA (11-13) to beat Cortegada (19-5). She scored 6 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 32 minutes. The eighth-placed ADBA lost 59-73 on the road to the higher-ranked (#3) Cortegada in the Group A. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This year Escorcio's overall stats are: 8.8ppg, 6.0rpg, 2FGP: 47.9%, 3FGP: 28.6% and FT: 58.6% in the 23 games. She is also a member of the Portuguese senior national team.

   #4. Forward Cesaria Ambrosio (180-95) was not able to help Ovronnaz-Martigny Basket (3-1) in their game against Helios (5-0) in the Swiss LNA. Ambrosio scored 9 points and added 5 passes (was perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line). But Ovronnaz-Martigny Basket (#2) was crushed 85-52 in Vetroz by the leading Helios in the Places 7-9 group. It's Ambrosio's first season with the team. Her total stats this year are: 5.5ppg, 3.3rpg, 1.5apg and 1.4spg. Ambrosio has a dual citizenship: Portuguese and Swiss. Despite she played previously for the Swiss national team, Ambrosio is currently in the Portuguese national team roster.

Brittany Shine (ex Serwan New Club) joins Lousada - 11 hours ago

Lousada AC (Liga Feminina) agreed terms with 24-year old American guard Brittany Shine (178-92, college: California). She played last season at Serwan New Club in Iraqi Superleague. Shine played in the final of Pac-12 Tournament in 2015. She graduated from University of California in 2015 and it will be her second season as a professional player. American Layne Murphy (188-F) put on an amazing game in the last round for GDESSA and that's her to receive a Player of the Week award for round 2. The forward had a double-double of 26 points and twenty two rebounds, while her team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team CD Torres N. (#11, 0-2) with 18-point margin 86-68.
