It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in Proliga, but even now we can clearly see the differece between stronger teams and outsiders.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Guifoes (2-1) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by Oliveirense (3-0) 82-63. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 2-0 record before this meeting. Oliveirense have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Maia Basket. Guifoes at the other side dropped to the third place with one game lost. They share the position with Sangalhos and Electrico FC. Oliveirense is looking forward to face Leca (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Guifoes will have a break next round.
Benfica B (#9) forced the game against Electrico FC (#5) into an overtime, but lost by seven points 84-91. The game took place in Lisboa. But the guests from Ponte de Sor were better at the end. It was a good game for guard Tiago Pinto (183-88) who led his team to a victory with 27 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Joao Lanzinha contributed with 17 points for the winners. Electrico FC's coach Andriy Melnychuk allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Power forward Candido Sa (202-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds for Benfica B. Electrico FC (2-1) moved-up to third place, which they share with Sangalhos and Guifoes. Newly promoted Benfica B still closes the standings with two games lost. They share the position with Ginasio. Electrico FC will play against Ginasio (#10) in Figueira da Foz in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Benfica B will play at home against the league's leader Maia Basket and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Other games of round 3 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
winless Terceira was defeated by Sangalhos in a road game 55-42. Illiabum beat Angra at home 75-61. Maia Basket won against Ginasio on the opponent's court 74-65.
The best stats of 3rd round was 30 points and 13 rebounds by Nuno Marcal of Maia Basket.


Benfica B - Electrico FC 84-91 OT

Benfica B (#9) forced the game against Electrico FC (#5) into an overtime, but lost by seven points 84-91. The game took place in Lisboa. But the guests from Ponte de Sor were better at the end. Benfica B was ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 25-21 charge of Electrico FC, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 12-5. Electrico FC forced 27 Benfica B turnovers. Benfica B was plagued by 36 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for guard Tiago Pinto (183-88) who led his team to a victory with 27 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Joao Lanzinha (188-89) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Electrico FC's coach Andriy Melnychuk allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Sangalhos - Terceira 55-42

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Terceira (0-3) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Sangalhos (2-1) 55-42. It looked good early as Terceira took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Sangalhos had a 15-9 second period charge getting the lead and Terceira was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 42-55. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Terceira to just 7 points in third quarter. It was a good game for forward Nuno Bizarro (192-80) who led his team to a victory with 9 points and 12 rebounds. Swingman Emanuel Silva (188-79) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American center Chano Rashiduddin (208, college: Clark Atlanta) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 18 rebounds and forward Frederico Tavares (194-88) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Terceira. Sangalhos moved-up to third place, which they share with Guifoes and Electrico FC. Terceira at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. Sangalhos will play against Angrabasket (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Terceira will play against Illiabum in Ilhavo and looks forward to get finally their first victory.

Illiabum - Angra 75-61

There was a surprise result in Ilhavo where tenth ranked Illiabum (1-2) defeated 4th placed Angrabasket (1-2) 75-61. The game without a history. Illiabum led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Illiabum forced 19 Angrabasket turnovers and had a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for swingman Tiago Raimundo (194-90) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 17 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Guard Alexandre Coelho (178-90) contributed with 15 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Illiabum players scored in double figures. Forward Alvaro Pontes (190-85) answered with 24 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Angolan forward Joao Gaspar (196-89) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Angrabasket. Illiabum left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with Angra. Illiabum will play against bottom-ranked Terceira (#11) in Angra Heroismo in the next round. Angrabasket will play on the road against Sangalhos (#3) to get more than just one victory in their record.

Ginasio - Maia Basket 65-74

Very expected game in Figueira da Foz where bottom-ranked Ginasio (0-2) was defeated by leader Maia Basket (3-0) 74-65. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-17. But Ginasio won second period 16-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Ginasio 41-28 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for the former international forward Nuno Marcal (205-75) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Pedro Tavares (182-83) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Tiago Barreiro (187-83) answered with 20 points and 5 assists and swingman Pedro Rocha (190-87) added 19 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Ginasio. Maia Basket have a solid series of three victories in a row. Maia Basket keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Oliveirense. Ginasio at the other side still closes the standings with two games lost. They share the position with Benfica B. Chemidor Tehran (Superleague) agreed terms with 29-year old American guard Daequan Cook (195-95kg-87, college: Ohio State). He played last season at Sport Lisboa Benfica in Portuguese LPB league.
