Ivan Almeida
Naturalized Cape Verdean Ivan Almeida (198-G-89, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's second-best Vitoria SC and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 23-year old guard had a double-double of 35 points and twelve rebounds, while his team edged out Galitos-Tley (#10, 1-4) 87-84. Vitoria SC is placed at 2nd position in Cape Verdean LPB. They maintain perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Vitoria SC already had a very good start winning all 4 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Almeida had a remarkable 58.3% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 8 attempts. He turned to be Vitoria SC's top player in his first season with the team. Stonehill College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Almeida is in league's top in points (3rd best: 19.0ppg), rebounds (4th best: 11.3rpg) and averages solid 2.3spg and 59.5% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 24-year old American forward Arnette Hallman (199-F-88) of Academica. Hallman impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 22 points and 16 rebounds. Of course he lead Academica to another comfortable win 78-61 over Alges (#11, 0-4) being unquestionably team leader. Academica's 4th position in has not changed. His team's 3-1 record is not bad at all. Hallman is well-known by Academica fans and he already established his position as one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.5ppg (#9). He also registered 12.8 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Montenegrin Marko Loncovic (200-F-91) of Barcelos (#6). Loncovic scored 23 points and grabbed sixteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Loncovic's great performance Barcelos lost 76-94 to slightly higher-ranked CAB Madeira (#5, 2-1). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Barcelos ranking at the top of Round 16, however are very questionable as they have already lost 3 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Loncovic could help Barcelos to bring them higher in the standings. Loncovic has a great season in Portugal. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.0ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 9.2rpg (7th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Perry Stevenson (206-F-87) of Galitos-Tley - 16 points and 13 rebounds
5. Jason Smith (183-G-83) of CAB Madeira - 27 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Miguel Miranda (205-F-78) of Ovarense - 18 points and 10 rebounds
7. Sergi Coll (204-F/C-82) of Ovarense - 17 points and 7 rebounds
8. Jose Miguel Barbosa (176-G-90) of Ovarense - 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists
9. Marco Goncalves (206-C-84) of Academica - 13 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Heshimu Evans (198-F-75) of Benfica - 20 points and 8 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
