The round was exceptionally exciting as three games ended with a tiny margin. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with loss of the undefeated team, extra overtimes, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Vitoria SC (4-1) in Guimaraes on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Ovarense (5-1) 93-85. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Vitoria SC. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Vitoria SC won third quarter 30-26. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for the former international forward Miguel Miranda (205-78) who led his team to a victory with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Jose Miguel Barbosa (176-90) contributed with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. The former international forward Paulo Cunha (200-80) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds for Vitoria SC. Ovarense have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Vitoria SC at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. Ovarense are looking forward to face Fisica (#6) in Torres Vedras in the next round. Vitoria SC will play on the road against CAB Madeira in Funchal and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The most impressive performance of 6th round was 27 points and 12 rebounds by Josimar Cardoso of Alges.



Vitoria SC - Ovarense 85-93

Alges snatched a narrow overtime win over Lusitania. J.Cardoso stepped up with 27 points and 12 rebounds to pace the visitors. D.Vieira added 20 points and 11 rebounds for Alges. Lusitania answered with 23 points from A.Sobrinho.

CAB Madeira - Sampaense 69-72

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Sampaense (2-3) edged higher ranked CAB Madeira (2-2) in Funchal 72-69 on Saturday. CAB Madeira was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 22-17 charge of Sampaense, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for American forward Al Rapier (200-89, college: Stony Brook, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import guard Steve Baker (187-90, college: Green Bay) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Baker is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The former international swingman Fabio Lima (197-88) replied with 14 points and 6 rebounds and the former international Jorge Coelho (200-78) added 13 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for CAB Madeira. Four CAB Madeira players scored in double figures. Sampaense moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Fisica. Loser CAB Madeira keeps the fifth position with two games lost. Sampaense will face league's leader Benfica on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. CAB Madeira will play against Academica (#4) in Coimbra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Very expected game when 6th ranked Barcelos (2-4) were edged at home by top-ranked Benfica (5-0) 75-73 on Saturday. Barcelos were trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 19-16 charge of Benfica, which allowed them to win the game. Benfica outrebounded Barcelos 51-31 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for the former international Joao Gomes (201-85) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. American forward Seth Doliboa (203-80, college: Wright St.) contributed with 9 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. International point guard Nuno Oliveira (186-89) replied with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Montenegrin forward Marko Loncovic (200-91) added 12 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Barcelos. Four Barcelos players scored in double figures. Benfica have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 5-0 record. Barcelos lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with four games lost. Benfica will face Sampaense (#7) in Coimbra in the next round where they are favorite. Barcelos will play on the road against Alges and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rather predictable result when eighth ranked Fisica (2-3) won against bottom-ranked Galitos-Tley (1-5) in Torres Vedras 84-70 on Saturday. Fisica made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. It was a good game for Edson Rosario (193-82) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 9 rebounds. point guard Carlos Barroca (182-84) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Fisica players scored in double figures. The former international guard Antonio Tavares (183-75) replied with 24 points and American forward Perry Stevenson (206-87, college: Kentucky) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Galitos-Tley. Galitos-Tley's coach Antonio Paulo Ferreira rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fisica moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Sampaense. Galitos-Tley lost fourth consecutive game. Galitos-Tley at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the bottom position with five games lost. Fisica will face league's second-placed Ovarense on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
