An interesting game for Oliveirense (5-0) which played road game in Ponte de Sor against second-best Electrico FC (4-2). Top-ranked Oliveirense managed to get a 13-point victory 86-73. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Electrico FC. Oliveirense made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Electrico FC turnovers. It was a good game for center Andre Pereira (200-C-90) (200-90) who led his team to a victory with 20 points and 7 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). The former international center Nuno Cortez (205-82) contributed with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Guard Tiago Pinto (183-88) replied with 24 points and 7 assists for Electrico FC. Undefeated Oliveirense have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 5-0 record. Electrico FC at the other side dropped to the fourth place with two games lost. They share the position with Sangalhos. Oliveirense are looking forward to face Maia Basket (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Electrico FC will have a break next round.
Terceira's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after six consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Ginasio (2-4) 82-76. Forward Frederico Tavares (194-88) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Chano Rashiduddin chipped in 17 points and 17 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was swingman Pedro Rocha (190-87) with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Ginasio's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Terceira went down to eleventh position due to points difference. Ginasio at the other side dropped to the eighth place with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Benfica B's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after five consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Angra Heroismo, where they defeated Terceira (1-6) 57-49 on Sunday. Candido Sa notched a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort. Benfica B's coach Goran Nogic used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds by Chano Rashiduddin did not help to save the game for Terceira. Benfica B (1-5) left bottom position moving up to tenth place. Loser Terceira dropped to the bottom position with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
The game in Ilhavo was also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Guifoes (4-1) played at the court of 5th ranked Illiabum (3-3). Guifoes managed to secure a 6-point victory 65-59. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Illiabum. The best player for the winners was Jose Almeida who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. Guifoes moved-up to second place, which they share with Maia Basket. Illiabum at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Guifoes' next round opponent will be Sangalhos (#4) on the road. Illiabum will play against Leca.
The game between 7th ranked Angrabasket (3-4) and ninth ranked Ginasio (2-4) in Angra on Sunday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Figueira da Foz beat Angrabasket 82-65. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Angrabasket. It was a good game for Tiago Barreiro who led his team to a victory with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals. Ginasio moved-up to eighth place. Loser Angrabasket keeps the seventh position with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

In the last two games of round 6 Leca was beaten by Sangalhos on the road 79-65. Angra won against Benfica B on its own court 69-59.


Terceira - Ginasio 82-76

Terceira's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after six consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Ginasio (2-4) 82-76. It looked good early as Ginasio took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Terceira had a 18-11 second period charge getting the lead and Ginasio was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 76-82. They outrebounded Ginasio 46-25 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Frederico Tavares (194-88) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American center Chano Rashiduddin (208, college: Clark Atlanta) chipped in 17 points and 17 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was swingman Pedro Rocha (190-87) with 18 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized Cape Verdean forward Joaquim Soares (198-83) scored 11 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ginasio's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Sangalhos (4-2) beat at home 8th ranked Leca (1-4) 79-65 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Sangalhos. Leca was better in fourth quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sangalhos looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for swingman Emanuel Silva (188-79) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Nuno Bizarro (192-80) contributed with 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Guard Daniel Ramos (193-91) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and Gonzalo Ranito added 9 points and 4 assists in the effort for Leca. Sangalhos moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Electrico FC. Leca lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Sangalhos will face league's second-placed Guifoes at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Leca will play against Illiabum (#6) in Ilhavo.

U.D. Oliveirense (LPB) agreed terms with 28-year old American (has also Spaniard passport) forward Arnette Hallman (200-88). He played last season at FC Porto in the LPB. In 35 games he had 4.1ppg and 3.5rpg. Hallman helped them to win the league title and the cup.
