24-year old center Ebony Ellis (190-C-88, agency: Promotex) had an amazing evening in the last round for AD Vagos and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 6. She had a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds, while her team outclassed Montijobanda (#8, 2-5) with 33-point margin 79-46. Thanks to this victory AD Vagos moved-up to the 7th position in the Portuguese Liga Feminina. AD Vagos is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 4-4 record. Ellis turned to be AD Vagos' top player in her first season with the team. Northern Illinois University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Ellis is in league's top in points (3rd best: 21.0ppg) and rebounds (4th best: 14.3rpg).
Second best performed player last round was Donica Cosby (172-G-88, agency: Gamble Sports Management) of CDTorres N.. She is American guard in her first season at CDTorres N.. In the last game Cosby recorded impressive 30 points and 9 rebounds. Bad luck as CDTorres N. lost that game 59-70 to the higher-ranked Olivais (#2, 6-1). This loss caused CDTorres N. to drop to 9th position in the standings. 6 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories CDTorres N. managed to get this year. Cosby is a newcomer at CDTorres N. and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 27.3ppg (#1). She also registered 6.9 boards per game.
Third place about best performers goes to forward Christina Dewitt (188-F-87, agency: Gamble Sports Management) of Lousada (#11). Dewitt scored 25 points and grabbed fifteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Dewitt's great performance Lousada lost 60-75 to slightly higher-ranked Academico FC (#10, 2-8). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. Lousada can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 6 games. Too bad for Dewitt she does not play for a better team. But maybe if she did, her season stats would not be that high. Dewitt has individually a great season in Portugal. After only 5 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 15.2rpg (2nd best).

Alges defended their Liga Feminina title. They swept the championship series against Quinta dos Lombos to regain the title. Katie Gearlds (186-G/F-84, college: Purdue) stepped up with 28 points to pace Alges to the decisive 82:76 victory in the third game of the series. Alges did not waste time to surge ahead. The visitors rallied to a 31:16 lead after ten minutes. Lombos were able to slow their opponents down in the second stanza. The hosts trimmed the deficit at 8-point mark at the interval 40:48. Alges were back in the drivers seat in the third period. The visitors ignited a 23:16 run to make it 15-point lead at the final intermission. Quinta dos Lombos fought hard to save the game. They went on a 20:11 spurt in the fourth quarter but came up short of victory at the end. Laura Broomfield (185-F-90, college: N.Carolina) delivered 15 points, while Joana Soeiro (170-PG-95) had 11 points for the winning side. Marcia Costa responded with 18 points for Quinta dos Lombos. Tatiana Keshler chipped in 16 points in the loss.
