Host teams show no mercy winning all games.

There was a change at the Proliga leadership position after last games. Round 7 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Oliveirense (5-1). They were defeated by third ranked Maia Basket (5-1) 65-57 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Oliveirense. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Oliveirense trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 23-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 57-65 at the end of the game. It was a great evening for the former international forward Nuno Marcal (205-75) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Pedro Tavares (182-83) helped adding 19 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side the former international center Nuno Cortez (205-82) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Maia Basket keeps a position of league leader, which they share with defeated Oliveirense. Oliveirense will play next round against Angrabasket trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Maia Basket will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Leca on the road.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Guifoes (4-2) against fourth ranked Sangalhos (5-2) on Sunday night. Visiting Guifoes were defeated by Sangalhos in a tough game in Sangalhos 66-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Guifoes. It was an exceptional evening for forward Nuno Bizarro (192-80) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Emanuel Silva accounted for 10 points and 11 rebounds. Center Joao Moreira (200-85) came up with 18 points for Guifoes in the defeat. Sangalhos moved-up to third place. Guifoes at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Electrico FC. Sangalhos will play against Ginasio (#8) in Figueira da Foz in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Guifoes will play at home against Electrico FC (#4) in Ponte de Sor and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Sixth ranked Illiabum (4-3) crushed at home 9th ranked Leca (1-5) by 23 points 94-71, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. Miguel Queiroz fired a double-double by scoring 25 points, 19 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Illiabum's coach Alexandre Pires felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hugo Gomes produced 17 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Illiabum maintains sixth place with 4-3 record. Leca lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with five games lost. They share it with Benfica B. Illiabum will meet Benfica B (#9) in the next round. Leca will play against the league's leader Maia Basket.



Sangalhos - Guifoes 73-66

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Guifoes (4-2) against fourth ranked Sangalhos (5-2) on Sunday night. Visiting Guifoes were defeated by Sangalhos in a tough game in Sangalhos 66-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Guifoes. Guifoes were ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 41-31 second half run of Sangalhos. They made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Guifoes were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for forward Nuno Bizarro (192-80) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Swingman Emanuel Silva (188-79) accounted for 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Center Joao Moreira (200-85) came up with 18 points and forward Jose Almeida (199-86) added 5 points and 14 rebounds respectively for Guifoes in the defeat. Sangalhos moved-up to third place. Guifoes at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Electrico FC. Sangalhos will play against Ginasio (#8) in Figueira da Foz in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Illiabum - Leca 94-71

Sixth ranked Illiabum (4-3) crushed at home 9th ranked Leca (1-5) by 23 points 94-71, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. The game without a history. Illiabum led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Illiabum outrebounded Leca 48-25 including a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Leca's players. International Miguel Queiroz (202-91) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points, 19 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Forward Joao Fernandes (198-94) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds. Four Illiabum players scored in double figures. Illiabum's coach Alexandre Pires felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. 23-year old guard Alex Marzette (196-G-93) had an amazing evening in the last round for CAB Madeira and receives a Court Side Player of the Week award for round 21. He had the game-high 27 points adding three rebounds and four assists for CAB Madeira in his team's victory, helping them to crush Lusitania (#9, 5-16) with 17-point margin 96-79. Experienced Former international Center Marco Goncalves (206-C-84) had a very impressive game in the last round for Ginasio (they play in Places 9-16) and that's him to receive a Court Side Proliga Player of the Week award for round 5 (Second Stage). The 32-year old center had a double-double of 25 points and sixteen rebounds, while his team lost the game against Fisica (#13, 2-3) 78-84.
