Queiroz number one in Portuguese Proliga for round 7 - Dec 3, 2012

Miguel
Queiroz
International power forward Miguel Queiroz (202-PF-91) put on an amazing game in the last round for Illiabum, receiving a Eurobasket.com Proliga Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 21-year old player had a double-double of 25 points and 19 rebounds, while his team crushed Leca (#10, 1-5) with 23-point margin 94-71. Illiabum maintains the 6th position in Portuguese Proliga. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Illiabum will need more victories to improve their 4-3 record. Queiroz turned to be Illiabum's top player in his first season with the team. Miguel Queiroz has solid league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 12.1rpg) and assists (8th best: 3.0apg).

The second best player in last round's games was another Illiabum's star - young Joao Fernandes (198-F-94). Fernandes had a very good evening with a double-double of 12 points and 15 rebounds. Of course together with Queiroz he helped Illiabum with another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Leca (#10, 1-5) 94-71. Illiabum's 6th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 4-3 record is not bad and everything may still change. Fernandes is a newcomer at Illiabum and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third on the list of top players last round was center Paulo Diamantino (203-C-85) of league's top team Maia Basket. Diamantino scored 20 points and grabbed five rebounds. He was a key player of Maia Basket, leading his team to a 65-57 win against #2 ranked Oliveirense in a game of the week. Maia Basket confirms their top position in the standings Diamantino has a very solid season. In 6 games in Portugal he scored 14.0ppg. He also has 8.0rpg and FGP: 51.7%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Nuno Marcal (205-F-75) of Maia Basket - 14 points and 13 rebounds
5. Emanuel Silva (188-G/F-79) of Sangalhos - 10 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Nuno Bizarro (192-F-80) of Sangalhos - 19 points and 10 rebounds
7. Pedro Tavares (182-G-83) of Maia Basket - 19 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Andre Pereira (200-C-90) of Oliveirense - 8 points and 9 rebounds
9. Hugo Gomes) of Leca - 17 points and 9 rebounds
10. Joao Reveles (187-G-80) of Oliveirense - 14 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
