American forward Laura Broomfield (185-F-90) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Alges, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 9.
The 22-year old player had a double-double of 19 points and 26 rebounds, while her team edged out CAB Madeira (#6, 5-2) 58-55. Alges is placed at 2nd position in Portuguese Liga Feminina. They are still close to the very top. Alges would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 7-1 record. Broomfield turned to be Alges' top player in her first season with the team. Former University of North Carolina star has very solid stats this year. Broomfield leads league in rebounds with 17.0rpg. Broomfield is in league's top in and averages impressive 52.7% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 25-year old American Christina Dewitt (188-F-87, agency: Gamble Sports Management) of Lousada. Dewitt had a very good evening with a double-double of 30 points and 15 rebounds. Of course she lead Lousada to another comfortable win outscoring Ovarense (#12, 0-9) 106-67. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the top position in . Lousada keeps 11th position. 6 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Lousada managed to get this year. Dewitt is a newcomer at Lousada, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was American center Lady Comfort (188-C-86) of league's top team Olivais. Comfort scored 25 points and grabbed eighteen rebounds (!!!). She was a key player of Olivais, leading her team to a 60-54 win against the lower-ranked Academico FC (#10, 2-9). Olivais confirms their top position in Comfort has a great season in Portugal. After only 7 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.4ppg (4th best) and rebounds with 15.3rpg (3rd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Ta-Myra Davis (185-F/C-87) of Boa Viagem - 18 points and 23 rebounds
5. Mattilyn McIntyre (175-G-89) of Olivais - 30 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists

10. LaKeisha Mosley (185-F-89) of Lousada - 22 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
