Here is the weekly review of the top performing Portuguese players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week's number one is an international guard Carla Nascimento (171-86, currently plays in Spain). She led Al-Qazeres to a victory against the 11th-ranked Arxil Pontevedra (0-10) 86-79 in the Spanish LF2 (12th division) in Saturday night's game. Nascimento scored 11 points, grabbed 7 boards, passed 9 assists and added 4 steals in 40 minutes on the court. CB Al-Qazeres (7-3) is placed second in Group A. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. Nascimento is ranked fifth on the list of the best passers in the league with 3.3apg. She also averaged so far 9.9ppg, 5.5rpg, 1.6spg, 2FGP: 39.6%, 3FGP: 35.1% and FT: 88.0% in the 10 games she played so far. Nascimento is currently a member of the Portuguese senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an experienced former international forward Mery Andrade (181-75, college: ODU, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian A1. She could not help Lucca (7-3) to beat Familia Schio (9-1). Andrade scored only 4 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Lucca was edged 49-47 at home by the leading Familia Schio. Andrade is currently first on the league's list of most steals. This season she averages: 8.5ppg, 6.1rpg, 1.8apg, 4.1spg, 2FGP: 45.8%, 3FGP: 7.1% and FT: 83.3%. Andrade played for the Portuguese national team in 2009.

   #3. The Portuguese player who performed third best last week abroad was former international center Sonia Borges dos Reis (189-84, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish LFB. She was not able to help Hondarribia-Irun (4-7) in their last game. Despite Borges dos Reis' good performance Hondarribia-Irun was crushed 80-54 on the road by the higher-ranked (#6) Jopisa Burgos. She scored 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 24 minutes. It was Hondarribia-Irun's third consecutive loss in a row. It's Borges dos Reis' first season with the team. This year Borges dos Reis' overall stats are: 6.9ppg, 3.0rpg, 2FGP: 54.5% and FT: 64.3% in the 10 games. She has a dual citizenship: Portuguese and Spanish. Former Staples Santarem starter played for the Portuguese national team three years ago.

Guard Carla Freitas (170-80, currently plays in Spain) led Orion-GDKO to a victory over the third-ranked Fundal Alcobendas (6-6) 62-43 in the Spanish LF2 (12th division) in Saturday night's game. Freitas was MVP of the game. She scored 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Orion-GDKO Ibaizabal Galdakao (7-4) is placed fourth in Group B. Freitas has relatively good stats this season: 11.9ppg, 3.8rpg, 1.5apg and 1.4spg. She is also Portuguese national team player.

Lousada AC (Liga Feminina) agreed terms with 24-year old American guard Brittany Shine (178-92, college: California). She played last season at Serwan New Club in Iraqi Superleague. Shine played in the final of Pac-12 Tournament in 2015. She graduated from University of California in 2015 and it will be her second season as a professional player. American Layne Murphy (188-F) put on an amazing game in the last round for GDESSA and that's her to receive a Player of the Week award for round 2. The forward had a double-double of 26 points and twenty two rebounds, while her team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team CD Torres N. (#11, 0-2) with 18-point margin 86-68.
