Jorge Coelho
The round was exceptionally exciting as three games ended with a tiny margin. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader, extra overtimes, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Benfica (10-1) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked CAB Madeira (9-2) in double-overtime 93-84. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of Benfica. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 15-14 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 0-point victory in double-overtime. CAB Madeira forced 21 Benfica turnovers. Strangely Benfica outrebounded CAB Madeira 58-34 including a 25-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Benfica helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for the former international Jorge Coelho (200-78) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. American guard Jason Smith (183-83, college: Al.-Huntsville) contributed with 18 points and 7 assists for the winners. The former international Joao Gomes (201-85) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 18 rebounds for Benfica. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. CAB Madeira have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 9-2 record behind leader Benfica. Defending champion Benfica still keeps top place with one game lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

In the last game of round 12 Vitoria SC beat Barcelos on the road 90-87. Lusitania won against Fisica on its own court 67-54. Bottom-ranked Galitos-Tley managed to outperform Academica in Barreiro 76-70. Alges recorded a loss to Ovarense at home 69-70. CAB Madeira defeated Alges on the opponent's court 72-69.
The most impressive performance of 12th round was 29 points and 12 rebounds by Ivan Almeida of Vitoria SC.

Barcelos - Vitoria SC 87-90

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Vitoria SC and 6th ranked Barcelos had identical 5-5 record.
