The game between third ranked Maia Basket (9-3) and sixth ranked Illiabum (7-5) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Maia Basket was defeated by Illiabum in a tough game in Ilhavo 68-75. Maia Basket was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Worth to mention a great performance of international Miguel Queiroz (202-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Alexandre Coelho (178-90) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists for the winners. The former international forward Nuno Marcal (205-75) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 15 rebounds for Maia Basket. Illiabum moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Sangalhos. Maia Basket at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. Illiabum is looking forward to face Terceira (#10) in Angra Heroismo in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Maia Basket will play at home against Ginasio (#7) in Figueira da Foz and is hoping to win this game.

They maintain second place with 10-2 record behind leader Oliveirense. Sangalhos at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Illiabum. Electrico FC will play against Benfica B (#9) in Lisboa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sangalhos will play on the road against Angrabasket (#8) and hope to get back on the winning track.

Nuno Cortez nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Josimar Vieira came up with 6 points and 8 rebounds for Ginasio in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Oliveirense. They maintain first place with 11-1 record. Loser Ginasio keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. They share it with Angra and Benfica B. Oliveirense will meet at home Guifoes (#4) in the next round. Ginasio will play against Maia Basket and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the LPB just one year after relegation.



Sangalhos - Electrico FC 53-60

An interesting game for Electrico FC (10-2) which played road game in Sangalhos against 4th placed Sangalhos (7-5). Second ranked Electrico FC managed to get a 7-point victory 60-53. The guests were ahead by 4 points but lost the second period ending it with a 3-point deficit before their 23-13 run, which allowed them to win the game. Electrico FC dominated on the defensive end, holding Sangalhos to just 7 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Sangalhos 45-30 including 35 on the defensive glass. Guard Tiago Pinto (183-88) stepped up and scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and naturalized Cape Verdean swingman Mario Neves (190-77) chipped in 9 points and 13 rebounds. At the losing side swingman Emanuel Silva (188-79) responded with 14 points and 9 rebounds and guard Jorge Seabra (174-81) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Electrico FC have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 10-2 record behind leader Oliveirense. Ginasio - Oliveirense 49-89

Proliga top team - Oliveirense (11-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Ginasio (3-8) in Figueira da Foz 89-49. The game was mostly controlled by Oliveirense. Ginasio managed to win fourth quarter 13-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Oliveirense held Ginasio to an opponent 23.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 55.4 percent accuracy of the winners. Oliveirense forced 19 Ginasio turnovers and had a 26-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Oliveirense especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. The former international center Nuno Cortez (205-82) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and the former international guard Joao Reveles (187-80) accounted for 19 points. Five Oliveirense players scored in double figures. Josimar Vieira came up with 6 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Pedro Rocha (190-87) added 8 points respectively for Ginasio in the defeat. 23-year old guard Alex Marzette (196-G-93) had an amazing evening in the last round for CAB Madeira and receives a Court Side Player of the Week award for round 21. He had the game-high 27 points adding three rebounds and four assists for CAB Madeira in his team's victory, helping them to crush Lusitania (#9, 5-16) with 17-point margin 96-79. Experienced Former international Center Marco Goncalves (206-C-84) had a very impressive game in the last round for Ginasio (they play in Places 9-16) and that's him to receive a Court Side Proliga Player of the Week award for round 5 (Second Stage). The 32-year old center had a double-double of 25 points and sixteen rebounds, while his team lost the game against Fisica (#13, 2-3) 78-84.
