The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked GDESSA (11-3) in Barreiro on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Alges (11-3) 61-51. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of GDESSA. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Alges. GDESSA managed to win third quarter 21-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Alges won last quarter 17-9. They dominated on the defensive end, holding GDESSA to just 7 points in first quarter. It was a great evening for American forward Laura Broomfield (185-90, college: N.Carolina) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 18 rebounds. Her fellow American import swingman Katie Gearlds (186-84, college: Purdue) helped adding 17 points. The best for the losing side was American guard Tyeasha Moss (175-90, college: Xavier) with 26 points and 8 rebounds. Alges have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated GDESSA. Alges is looking forward to face Boa Viagem (#7) in Angra Heroismo in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. GDESSA will play at home against Lousada (#9) and is hoping to win this game.
Olivais (#4) were upset in Angra Heroismo by seventh ranked Boa Viagem 69-64. Boa Viagem have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 9-6 record. Olivais lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with AD Vagos. Boa Viagem will play against league's second-placed Alges on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Olivais will play against Ovarense and hope to get back on the winning track.
The game in Torres Novas was also quite interesting. Second ranked Lombos Quinta (11-2) played at the court of 8th ranked CDTorres N. (5-10). Lombos Quinta managed to secure a 6-point victory 63-57 on Saturday. Lombos Quinta keeps a position of league leader. CDTorres N. at the other side keeps the eighth place with ten games lost. Lombos Quinta will meet at home CAB Madeira (#4) in the next round. CDTorres N. will play against Montijobanda (#11) and hope to secure a win.
Seventh ranked CAB Madeira (9-3) crushed at home 9th ranked Lousada (3-10) by 26 points 92-66, which is the biggest margin this round. It was a good game for Carmen Reynolds who led her team to a victory with 30 points and 5 rebounds. CAB Madeira have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Lousada lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. CAB Madeira's next round opponent will be league's leader Lombos Quinta in Carcavelos and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lousada will play on the road against GDESSA (#3) in Barreiro.

The most impressive stats of the last round was 22 points and 23 rebounds by Christina Dewitt of Lousada.


GDESSA - Alges 51-61
