Joao da Costa , born in Leca da Palmeira, in Portugal and lives in Seattle, US for the last 20 years. His wife is an engineer at Boeing service.
Live intensely basketball, which led him to come to U.S., where the sport is at its highest level. It was in Sport Group of Leca Basketball (GDBL) that John da Costa gave
the first spets in basketball and born to basket.

He played in Leca FC, but returned to GDBL. In 1985/1986 he moved to the United States to improve their Basketball skills and prepare to become a coach.
"After the departure of assistant coach of the women's team Shoreline Community College, I was invited to occupy the place and so I started my career", he says.

It followed an adventure university as an assistent coach of the senior male Northwest University in Seattle. Launched in american basketball, stage and toured with several
university teams and in NBA. "I traveled extensively to improve my technical knowledge, along the best of the NBA. "

He began his coaching career in Seattle before leaving for other cities in developing techniques for training.
He devoted several years to develop their potential with training NBA and NCAA coaches.

Recently, it has taught clinics for coaches on campus both in Europe such as in South America has been invited nationally and internationally to talk about basketball.

He is invited to participate in the Academies and Basketball Campus Rentals across the USA and also other countries Mexico, Venezuela, Iran,
Qatar, Barhain, Lebanon, Luxembourg ... sharing their experience and knowledge with players of different levels.

Participated in technical observations of some of the best coaches in the university US leagues, such as Mike Krzyzewski (Duke University), Roy Williams (University of North Carolina), Eddie Sutton (Oklahoma State University) Hubbie Brown (Memphis Grizzlies, NBA), among others.

John Costa has five books published in the U.S..
He worked in two university teams: West - Northwest University "Wildcats", and teaches courses in sport.
His books demonstrate in detail the exercises for trainers and how athletes can develop accurately and hence run the movements of the basketball with ability.
He has produced more than 300 new exercises, evaluated by American technicians.

Bob Bender, assistant coach of the 76ers Philadelfia, invited John da Costa to continue to observe and acquire more knowledge in the NBA. It was the beginning of a
new stage in its life coach who extended to Portland Trail Blazers and returning to Seattle Supersonics.

His book "Improve Your Defense Coach" - Man-to-Man Defense Drills is inspired by the knowledge obtained in these NBA teams.

Maia Basket - Oliveirense 81-72 Maia Basket earned the first win in the Proliga Finals and tied things up at 1-1. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-72.
