Here is the weekly review of the top performing Portuguese players, who play currently abroad.

Mery Andrade
Mery Andrade
#1. This week's number one is an experienced former international forward Mery Andrade (181-75, college: ODU, currently plays in Italy). She contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Umbertide (8-6) 66-48 in the Italian A1 in Sunday night's game. Andrade scored 10 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and dished 6 assists in 40 minutes on the court. Gesam Gas Le Mura Lucca (11-3) is placed second in the A1. It was her team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Andrade is currently fourth on the league's list of best passers and also on the list of most steals (first place). This year she averages: 8.1ppg, 6.3rpg, 2.9apg, 4.0spg, 2FGP: 45.9%, 3FGP: 6.3% and FT: 78.4% in the 15 games she played so far. Andrade played for the Portuguese senior national team four years ago.

Debora Escorcio
Debora Escorcio
#2. Second place goes to an international power forward Debora Escorcio (186-84, currently plays in Spain), who plays in the Spanish LF2 (12th division). She could not help ADBA (4-10) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Escorcio's very good performance the tenth-placed ADBA was defeated 76-69 at home by the much higher-ranked Al-Qazeres (#3) in the Group A. She recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 13 rebounds. Escorcio also added 4 assists. It was his first game for ADBA this season. Ex-CAB Madeira player is in the roster of the Portuguese senior national team.

Carla Nascimento
Carla Nascimento
#3. The Portuguese player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Carla Nascimento (171-86, currently plays in Spain). Nascimento led Al-Qazeres to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked Maquinaria Ensino (8-6) 86-70 in the Spanish LF2 (12th division) on Saturday night. She scored 15 points, had 6 boards, passed 7 assists and added 4 steals in 37 minutes. CB Al-Qazeres (11-3) is placed third in Group A. It was her team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. Nascimento is currently third on the league's list of best passers with 3.9apg. This year her other stats are: 10.6ppg, 5.4rpg, 1.6spg, 2FGP: 41.2%, 3FGP: 41.7% and FT: 84.6% in the 14 games. Nascimento is also a member of the Portuguese senior national team.

Carla Freitas
Carla Freitas
#4. Guard Carla Freitas (170-80, currently plays in Spain) contributed to an easy victory against the eighth-ranked Las Gaunas (6-10) 67-48 in the Spanish LF2 (12th division) in Saturday night's game. She recorded 7 points and added 3 passes. Orion-GDKO Ibaizabal Galdakao (10-6) is placed fifth in Group B. It's Freitas' first season with the team. Freitas has relatively good stats this year: 11.5ppg, 3.3rpg, 1.5apg and 1.2spg. She is also Portuguese national team player.

Sonia Borges dos Reis
Sonia Borges dos Reis
#5. Former international center Sonia Borges dos Reis (189-84, currently plays in Spain) was not able to help Hondarribia-Irun (5-11) in their game against Gran Canaria (7-9) in the Spanish LFB. Borges dos Reis did not have that impressive stats last Saturday. She recorded only 2 points in 11 minutes. Hondarribia-Irun was badly defeated 94-78 on the road by the higher-ranked (#6) Gran Canaria. It was Hondarribia-Irun's fourth consecutive loss in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Borges dos Reis' overall stats are: 5.4ppg and 2.9rpg in the 15 games. She has a dual citizenship: Portuguese and Spanish. Borges dos Reis used to play for the Portuguese national team three years ago.

One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Portuguese passport:

#1. Silvia Fortunato, who plays in the German 2.Bundesliga (12th division) could not help Dolphins Bielefeld (4-13) to beat Quakenbrueck Dragons (8-9). She scored 5 points.
