Nuno Marcal
37-year old forward Nuno Marcal (205-F-75) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Maia Basket and receives a Eurobasket.com Proliga Player of the Week award for round 18.
He had a double-double of 33 points and 17 rebounds, while his team edged out Oliveirense (#1, 14-2) 84-80. Maia Basket maintains the 2nd position in Portuguese Proliga. They are still close to the very top. Maia Basket would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 13-3 record. In the team's last game Marcal had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. He turned to be Maia Basket's top player in his first season with the team. Marcal has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (2nd best: 18.8ppg), rebounds (5th best: 10.0rpg) and averages solid 53.5% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Tiago Raimundo (194-G/F-90) of Illiabum. He is a swingman in his first season at Illiabum. In the last game Raimundo recorded impressive double-double of 10 points and 16 rebounds. Of course he lead Illiabum to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Leca (#11, 4-12) 71-43. Illiabum's 5th position in has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 9-8 record is not bad and everything may still change. Raimundo is a newcomer at Illiabum and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Joao Reveles (187-G-80) of league's leader Oliveirense. Reveles scored 29 points and passed six assists. Despite Reveles' great performance Oliveirense lost 80-84 to #2 ranked Maia Basket. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Oliveirense had another "accident". It may be a crucial gamestill good, but 2nd lost game is hopefully really an accident. Reveles' teammates are also very good. That's why having such high stats is even more impressive. Reveles has a great season in Portugal. After 15 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.3ppg (4th best) and assists with 4.5apg (3rd best). He also has 2.5spg, FGP: 58.1% and 3PT: 41.8%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Joao Pereira (186-G-83) of Guifoes - 24 points and 3 assists
5. Alvaro Pontes (190-F-85) of Angra - 20 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Lamar Wright (191-G) of Angra - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Ricardo Alpuim (189-F-88) of Guifoes - 16 points and 8 rebounds
8. Joao Torrie (200-C/F-91) of Terceira - 8 points and 9 rebounds
9. Flavio Gomes (194-G/F-89) of Angra - 22 points and 9 rebounds
10. Pedro Silva (178-G-82) of Guifoes - 17 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
