After home loss in Round 1, Lemminkainen managed to beat CAB Madeira in Portugal registering the first EuroCup win this season. Rita Milieskiene (175-G-78) was totally the best player in her team with 28 points and 6 rebounds. Marina Solopova (180-G/F-90) scored 13 and Egle Zygelyte (166-G-84) had 9 pts (7 rebs, 8 as). After home loss in Round 1, Lemminkainen managed to beat CAB Madeira in Portugal registering the first EuroCup win this season. Rita Milieskiene (175-G-78) was totally the best player in her team with 28 points and 6 rebounds. Marina Solopova (180-G/F-90) scored 13 and Egle Zygelyte (166-G-84) had 9 pts (7 rebs, 8 as). For the hosts (0-2), Candice Champion (185-F-87, college: Texas Arlington) responded with double-double, 22 points and 12 rebounds. Both teams were on fire at the beginning. The hosts were slightly better creating 24-20 lead after 10 minutes of play. Visitors responded after that and this time the teams improved their defense. Lemminkainen scored 16 and Madeira had 14 pts in the second frame, but the hosts still held 2-point lead until the half time. Last two quarters belonged to the Lithuanian squad, but the difference was not so big. In exciting finish Candice Champion and her teammates were strong enough to keep their lead and to celebrate valuable 67-69 win. In the next round they will meet Montpellier, also on the road. The Portuguese team will have to look for some other chance in order to grab the first win. That maybe can happen in the next round against MBK Ruzomberok in Slovakia.

Izabela De Andrade (182-F-86) was in a game mood yesterday draining 19 points and pulling down 7 rebounds for AD Vagos. Joana Lopes (185-F-86) and Mariana Alves (165-G-84) scored 15 points each, while Clarissa Dos Santos (182-C-88) helped with 14 points and 14 boards. AD Vargos - Sierre 72-61
Izabela De Andrade (182-F-86) was in a game mood yesterday draining 19 points and pulling down 7 rebounds for AD Vagos. Joana Lopes (185-F-86) and Mariana Alves (165-G-84) scored 15 points each, while Clarissa Dos Santos (182-C-88) helped with 14 points and 14 boards. In the loosing squad, Ofelia Villarroel (174-G-78, college: Oklahoma) came up with 24 points and 7 boards. Thanks to the great run in the final quarter, AD Vargos managed to overcome Sierre at home 72-61. The game started out evenly with neither team managing to build significant lead. After initial 10 minutes of play, hosts were up 20-17. In the second quarter, Vargos players continued to impose their game slightly extending their lead. But with 4 minutes left until the halftime, Sierre went on a run which enabled them to tie the game and than take the lead. At halftime, Ofelia Villarroel and her teammates held 32-33. After the break, it was still the close game, as teams exchanged baskets. So the game entered the final quarter with teams tied at 52. Than, in the final quarter, Vargos players increased their defensive pressure limiting visiting team to only 9 points. It was the last 5 minutes which proved to be decisive one, as at that point the game was tied at 61. From that point on, Vargos players went on a 11-0 run which was enough to seem them win this game.

Olivais managed to beat Medvescak registering the first win in EuroCup 2009/10 season. That was the second round of this prestigious competition and now both teams are on 1-1 score in Group B. Danyel Crutcher (188-F-86, agency: Merit Sports, college: Illinois) was a key player for the hosts netting 21 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Olivais - Medvescak 67-61
Olivais managed to beat Medvescak registering the first win in EuroCup 2009/10 season. That was the second round of this prestigious competition and now both teams are on 1-1 score in Group B. Danyel Crutcher (188-F-86, agency: Merit Sports, college: Illinois) was a key player for the hosts netting 21 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Jhasmin Player (178-G-87, college: Baylor) also had very important role scoring 16 points and grabbing 8 rebs. In the loosing squad, Ana Cacic (175-G-86) was better than the others with 17 points. Mirna Mazic (188-F-85, college: Richmond) scored 13. The hosts had impressive second and third quarter and mostly owing to these 20 minutes they celebrated yesterday. After totally leveled 14-14 in the first period, Danyel Crutcher and her teammates took control on their rivals. They were almost unmistakable offensively and did a decent job in defense. That resulted with 37-31 lead at the half time. After the breather, the hosts created crucial 11-2 run for plus 15. That turned out as unreachable for Medvescak for the rest of third period. However, visitors threatened in the last quarter coming to 63-57 with 3:30 to go. Danyel Crutcher responded with a jump shot and Da Silva followed her with a basket stopping Medvescak on their way. In the end it was totally deserved 67-61 win for the Portuguese squad.
