Sasa
Borovnjak
26-year old Serbian Sasa Borovnjak (206-C/F-89, college: Penn St.) turned to be Lusitania's top player in his first season with the team. The Pennsylvania State University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Sasa Sasa Borovnjak (206-C/F-89, college: Penn St.) is in league's top points (1st best: 20.1ppg) and rebounds (1st best: 9.5rpg) and averages impressive 65.4% FGP. Also Sasa Sasa Borovnjak (206-C/F-89, college: Penn St.) is a current MVP of the Portuguese league with average ranking of 26 per game. In his career, Sasa Sasa Borovnjak (206-C/F-89, college: Penn St.) played for Ikaros (Greece), Zornotza (Spain), Gran Canaria (Spain), Slask Wroclaw (Poland). He graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 2013 and it is his third season as a professional player.
He could be described: Blessed with excellent passing skills, a strong face-up game and excellent basketball IQ.

You start playing basketball: where, with who and what influence?
I started to play basketball when I was 10 years old. My first basketball steps were with my older brother Dejan Boronjak who also plays professionally for Zielona Gora from Poland. Our father played professional basketball and he was the biggest influence on me.

When you started playing what player inspired you? And today who inspires you?

When I started playing I was inspired by Pedja Stojakovic and Vlade Divac. And today my favorite player and a role model is Tim Duncan.

What are for you the main weapons that have to have a player playing in your position?
In my opinion for a big man a good foot work and soft touch around the basket are the most important.

You have been in many weeks the MVP of the week of the Portuguese Liga, that must be it? And how do you feel?

Yes, I received the MVP of the week award many times this year and I'm just blessed to have an opportunity to show my skills and talent on this level. Especially against teams like Porto and Benfica.

What do you think about the Portuguese championship?
I think it's a very good league and from what I have heard, it's getting stronger and stronger each year. Porto and Benfica are the two best teams and they also play in European competition which is very important for the future and respect of this league.

What was your most memorable game this season?
Game at home against Electico was most memorable when my team won in OT and I had the best game is my career so far without any missed shot (13/13 FG, 10/10 FT)

What are your future goals? Continue in Portugal? Or go to a stronger league?
My goal for next year is to play for a team who will play in one of the European competitions. So staying in Portugal could be an option.

Couple quick questions to finish:
A plate: Italian food
A city: Belgrade
A song: Don't worry be happy
A book: Relentless
Film: Fracture
A club: San Antonio Spurs
Other sports: Soccer
A coach: Gregg Popovich
An idol: Tim Duncan
The ball I threw and went in: this season, two free throws againast CAB Madeira 3 seconds left
The ball I threw and did not enter: -
The game that I will never forget: College game, back in 2013, against no.4 ranked Michigan when my team Penn State won
The game I try to forget and I can not: NCAA tournament game in 2011 against Tample when my team lost in last second
A dream: To win Euroleague championship one day
Advice to younger: Be a student of the game. Treat practice like a game. Believe in yourself and never quit.
