The Second Stage in Proliga just started. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader and derby games.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Esgueira / Oli (0-1) in Angra Heroismo on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Terceira (1-0) 81-58. Terceira shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 68.4 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Sao Tome and Principe center Ekjersey Viana (203-77) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Fernando Ferreira (198-94) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. point guard Pedro Valente (175-85) answered with 16 points and 5 rebounds for Esgueira / Oli. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Terceira is looking forward to face Estoril Basket (#6) on the road in the next round. Esgueira / Oli will play against Dragon Force and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another exciting game for Estoril Basket (1-0) which played in Lisboa against Benfica B (0-1). Estoril Basket won 70-63. Swingman Daniel Machado (190-90) stepped up and scored 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Sergio Lugo Santos chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Estoril Basket's coach Artur Cruz allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side center Ricardo Monteiro (208-97) responded with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Estoril Basket will play against Terceira (#7) in Angra Heroismo in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Benfica B will play on the road against Barreirense (#2) in Barreiro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An interesting game was also home loss of Academico FC in a game versus undefeated Barreirense 59-58. Academico FC was very close to get their first win. But it seems they have to wait a little bit longer. Antonio Pires nailed 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Gonzalo Ranito came up with 27 points for Academico FC in the defeat. Academico FC's coach Diogo Perdigao tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Barreirense will meet at home Benfica B (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Academico FC will play against Vasco in Porto and hope to win that game.
We should not miss anothera road victory of Ginasio (1-0) over Guifoes (0-1) 62-49. Jose Costa fired 17 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ginasio's next round opponent will be Sanjoanense (#16) which should be theoretically an easy game.
And finally the game worth to mention about is Sangalhos' victory against Sanjoanense 69-63. Sangalhos will face Angrabasket (#10) at home in the next round. Sanjoanense will play against Ginasio (#13) in Figueira da Foz and hope to win that game.

In the last two games of round 1
In Places 9-16 winless Fisica lost to undefeated Angra on the road 68-82. Belenenses CF won against Academia on its own court 61-47.
The most impressive performance of 1st round was 19 points and 8 rebounds by Marco Goncalves of Ginasio.

Places 1-8
Terceira - Esgueira 81-58

Another exciting game for Estoril Basket (1-0) which played in Lisboa against Benfica B (0-1). Estoril Basket won 70-63. They outrebounded Benfica B 40-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. Swingman Daniel Machado (190-90) stepped up and scored 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and forward Sergio Lugo Santos (198-92) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Angrabasket used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Torres Vedras 82-68 on Saturday night. Angrabasket dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Fisica's 30. It was a very good performance for American Deshaunt Walker (183, college: SF Austin) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 5 assists. Cape Verdean swingman Flavio Gomes (194-88) contributed with 22 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Frederico Tavares (194-88) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and Nuno Monteiro (180-86) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Fisica. Angrabasket will face Sangalhos (#15) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
