There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in LPB.

The most exciting game of round 20 in the LPB took place in Ilhavo. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 6th ranked Illiabum (12-8) to seventh ranked CAB Madeira (11-9) 87-84 on Friday evening. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Fabio Lima (198-88) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. American guard Alex Marzette (196-93, college: Robert Morris) chipped in 18 points and 4 blocks. Serbian power forward Nikola Tadic (206-88) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds for the hosts. CAB Madeira have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 11-9 record. Newly promoted Illiabum keeps the sixth place with eight games lost. CAB Madeira are looking forward to face Lusitania (#9) in Angra in the next round. Illiabum will play at home against the league's leader FC Porto Ferpinta and will have a slim chance for a victory.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Oliveira. First ranked FC Porto Ferpinta faced second-ranked Oliveirense. Guests from Porto (17-3) defeated host Oliveirense (14-6) 69-60. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Oliveirense. American-Liberian guard Thomas Bropleh (196-91, college: Boise St., agency: Duran International) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds. Jose Silva contributed with 9 points and 4 assists for the winners. The former international forward Arnette Hallman (200-88) replied with 10 points and 7 rebounds for Oliveirense. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. FC Porto Ferpinta have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 17-3 record. Oliveirense at the other side dropped to the third place with six games lost. They share the position with Vitoria SC. FC Porto Ferpinta will play against Illiabum (#6) in Ilhavo in the next round where they are favorite. Oliveirense will play at home against Sampaense and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Sampaense managed to get a third victory, breaking the two-game losing streak on Saturday night. This time newly promoted Sampaense won against tenth-ranked Electrico FC in Coimbra 91-78. Worth to mention a great performance of Andrew Guillory who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 6 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Sampaense's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Kevin Coronel responded with 18 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 blocks. Sampaense (3-17) moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Maia Basket. Electrico FC lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 16 games lost. Sampaense will meet higher ranked Oliveirense (#4) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Electrico FC will play against Vitoria SC (#3) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
The game in Ovarense was also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Vitoria SC (14-6) played at the court of 8th ranked Ovarense (9-11). Vitoria SC managed to secure a 7-point victory 102-95. The winners were led by Pedro Pinto who scored that evening 16 points and 7 assists. Vitoria SC's coach Fernando Sa allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Vitoria SC moved-up to third place, which they share with Oliveirense. Ovarense at the other side keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Vitoria SC's next round opponent will be Electrico FC (#10) in Ponte de Sor and are hoping to win another game. Ovarense will play on the road against Maia Basket and hope to win that game.

Galitos-Barreiro will face league's second-placed Benfica on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Maia Basket will play against Ovarense (#8) and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 20 Lusitania was crushed by Benfica in a road game 100-65.
The best stats of 20th round was 27 points and 15 rebounds by Nuno Marcal of Maia Basket.

Galitos-Barreiro - Maia Basket 94-55

The game with biggest result difference took place in Barreiro. Local Galitos-Barreiro (13-7) outscored 11th ranked Maia Basket (3-17) 94-55 on Saturday night. They outrebounded Maia Basket 45-33 including 33 on the defensive glass. Galitos-Barreiro looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Maia Basket's players. The best player for the winners was guard Diogo Correia (182-90) who scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized Guinea-Bissau forward Josimar Cardoso (201-87) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. Four Galitos-Barreiro players scored in double figures. The former international forward Nuno Marcal (205-75) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 15 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and the former international center David Gomes (200-86) added 3 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Benfica - Lusitania 100-65

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Lusitania (5-15) was crushed on the road by third ranked Benfica (15-5) 100-65 on Saturday. Benfica outrebounded Lusitania 38-24 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 53.1 percentage. Benfica looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Lusitania's players. The best player for the winners was international forward Joao Soares (202-90, agency: Interperformances) who scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. American-Hungarian forward Damian Hollis (203-88, college: G.Washington, agency: Inception Sports) chipped in 20 points. Four Benfica players scored in double figures. American forward Garrius Holloman (198-89, college: Beth.-Cookman, agency: Diamond Sports) produced 21 points and his fellow American import center Chris Matagrano (206-90, college: New Hampshire) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Ovarense Dolce Vita (LPB) added to their roster 23-year old forward Joao Grosso (196-94). He played last season at FC Porto (LPB), but left the team in May.'17. In 31 games he had 3.1ppg and 1.4rpg. Grosso also played 3 games in FIBA Europe Cup where he recorded 3.0ppg, 1.7rpg and 1.0apg. The previous (15-16) season he played at Barcelos Hotel Terco. Terceira Basket SUSIARTE (Proliga) agreed terms with 27-year old point guard Nuno Morais (183-90). He has played for the last nine seasons at Ovarense Dolce Vita in the LPB, but left the team in Mar.'17. In 17 games he had 9.2ppg, 1.8rpg and 1.4apg last season. Proliga will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. Morais' team made it to the Portuguese Cup final in 2016. Galitos-Barreiro (LPB) re-signed 27-year old guard Diogo Correia (182-90). He has played there for the last two seasons. In 37 LPB games he recorded 6.8ppg, 1.1rpg and 1.2apg last season. Correia helped them to make it to the Portuguese Hugo dos Santos Cup Semifinals. His team won Portuguese Cup in 2012.
