Alex
Marzette
23-year old guard Alex Marzette (196-G-93) had an amazing evening in the last round for CAB Madeira and receives a Court Side Player of the Week award for round 21.
He had the game-high 27 points adding three rebounds and four assists for CAB Madeira in his team's victory, helping them to crush Lusitania (#9, 5-16) with 17-point margin 96-79. CAB Madeira is placed at 6th position in Portuguese league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. CAB Madeira will need more victories to improve their 12-9 record. In the team's last game Marzette had a remarkable 64.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be CAB Madeira's top player in his first season with the team. Robert Morris College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Marzette is in league's top in points (6th best: 16.8ppg) and averages solid 52.9% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Dominique Lee (196-F-91, agency: Blacktop Management) of Galitos-Barreiro. He is American forward in his first season at Galitos-Barreiro. In the last game Lee recorded impressive 22 points and 8 rebounds. Bad luck as Galitos-Barreiro lost that game 57-69 to the higher-ranked Benfica (#2, 16-5). Galitos-Barreiro managed to keep the same 5th spot in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 13-8 record is not bad and everything may still change. Lee is one of the most experienced players at Galitos-Barreiro and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to swingman Joao Lanzinha (191-G/F-89) of Electrico FC (#10). Lanzinha showcased his all-around game by recording 18 points, seven rebounds and nine assists in the last round. Despite Lanzinha's great performance Electrico FC lost 71-77 to the higher-ranked Vitoria SC (#3, 15-6). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Electrico FC can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 4-17 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Lanzinha he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Lanzinha has a very solid season. In 21 games in Portugal he scored 9.6ppg. He also has 4.3rpg and 3.7apg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Antonio Monteiro (204-F-89) of Lusitania - 20 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Nuno Marcal (205-F-75) of Maia Basket - 26 points and 7 rebounds
6. Thomas Bropleh (196-G-91) of FC Porto - 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Chris Matagrano (206-C-90) of Lusitania - 24 points and 3 rebounds
8. Sasa Borovnjak (206-C/F-89) of FC Porto - 17 points and 6 rebounds
9. Sergi Coll (204-F/C-82) of Oliveirense - 11 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Raven Barber (206-F/C) of Benfica - 14 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

The Player of the Week awards are presented by Court Side. Court Side is the global leader in basketball management, and is widely regarded as the most dynamic and innovative company of its kind. It was the first Basketball Agency to launch its own website, and the first to have its own database. Court Side has more agents and manpower within its organization, than any other competitor, and its international network of basketball contacts is still unparalleled.
