The Regular Season in LPB just ended.

The most exciting game of round 22 in the LPB took place in Ovarense. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Oliveirense (15-7) to eighth ranked Ovarense (11-11) 67-65 on Saturday evening. American point guard Nick Novak (182-90, college: Pitt-Johnstown) scored 26 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Kyle Anderson (190-93, college: Delaware) chipped in 15 points during the contest. At the losing side guard Rui Coelho (191-89) responded with 10 points. Oliveirense's coach Ricardo Rodrigues rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ovarense maintains eighth position with 11-11 record. Oliveirense at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost.
LPB top team - FC Porto Ferpinta (19-3) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Maia Basket (3-19) 110-60. American center Nick Washburn (208-91, college: Hillsdale, agency: Duran International) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Sasa Borovnjak supported him with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Even 27 points and 6 rebounds by the former international forward Nuno Marcal (205-75) did not help to save the game for Maia Basket. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. FC Porto Ferpinta have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 19-3 record. Maia Basket lost eighth consecutive game. Maia Basket at the other side keeps the eleventh place with 19 games lost. They share the position with Sampaense.
Tenth-ranked Electrico FC (4-18) gave a tough game to fifth ranked Galitos-Barreiro (14-8) on Saturday. Galitos-Barreiro managed to secure only two-point victory 87-85. However their fans expected much easier game. Miguel Minhava fired 20 points and 8 assists for the winners. Joao Torrie produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for lost side. Galitos-Barreiro maintains fifth position with 14-8 record. Electrico FC lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 18 games lost.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 22: Illiabum was destroyed by Vitoria SC on the opponent's court 107-67. Bottom-ranked Sampaense was outscored by Lusitania in a home game 65-96. CAB Madeira recorded a loss to Benfica on the road 75-66.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 20 points and 6 rebounds by Victor Moses of Vitoria SC.

FC Porto - Maia Basket 110-60

LPB top team - FC Porto Ferpinta (19-3) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Maia Basket (3-19) 110-60. FC Porto Ferpinta forced 20 Maia Basket turnovers and outrebounded Maia Basket 40-20 including a 25-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. FC Porto Ferpinta shot the lights out from three nailing 17 long-distance shots on high 51.5 percentage. FC Porto Ferpinta players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Maia Basket's players. American center Nick Washburn (208-91, college: Hillsdale, agency: Duran International) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Serbian power forward Sasa Borovnjak (206-89, college: Penn St., agency: 011 Sports) supported him with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Washburn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five FC Porto Ferpinta players scored in double figures. Even 27 points and 6 rebounds by the former international forward Nuno Marcal (205-75) did not help to save the game for Maia Basket. Point guard Pedro Catarino (184-90) added 12 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. FC Porto Ferpinta have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Vitoria SC - Illiabum 107-67

Very expected game in Guimaraes where 7th ranked Illiabum (12-10) was crushed by third ranked Vitoria SC (16-6) 107-67 on Saturday. Vitoria SC dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Illiabum's 38. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Illiabum's players. American forward Victor Moses (201-89, college: Georgetown, KY) fired 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). International forward Joao Balseiro (192-87) chipped in 21 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Vitoria SC players scored in double figures. Vitoria SC's coach Fernando Sa felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Serbian power forward Nikola Tadic (206-88) produced 11 points and 7 rebounds and Canadian swingman Chris Johnson (196-88, college: St.Bonaventure) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Vitoria SC have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 16-6 record having just three points less than leader FC Porto. Illiabum lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the sixth place with ten games lost. They share the position with CAB Madeira.

Galitos-Barreiro - Electrico FC 87-85

Tenth-ranked Electrico FC (4-18) gave a tough game to fifth ranked Galitos-Barreiro (14-8) on Saturday. Galitos-Barreiro managed to secure only two-point victory 87-85. However their fans expected much easier game. Galitos-Barreiro made 25-of-30 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Galitos-Barreiro especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. The former international guard Miguel Minhava (195-83) fired 20 points and 8 assists for the winners. American forward Stephen Grosey (201, college: Concordia Irvine) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. Rather predictable result in Coimbra where ninth ranked Lusitania (6-16) smashed bottom-ranked Sampaense (3-19) 96-65 on Saturday. Lusitania dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Sampaense's 36. They outrebounded Sampaense 42-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. Lusitania looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Naturalized Angolan forward Antonio Monteiro (204-89) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. American center Chris Matagrano (206-90, college: New Hampshire) chipped in a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Lusitania players scored in double figures. American guard Andrew Guillory (190, college: Arkansas Tech) produced 10 points and 6 assists and his fellow American import guard Devin Martin (193, college: Md-E Shore) added 12 points respectively for lost side. Lusitania maintains ninth position with 6-16 record. Newly promoted Sampaense stay dead last with 19 lost games. They share the position with Maia Basket.
