Proliga is at the halfway of the Second Stage and there are still another 7 rounds left. There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The game between Top Four teams took place in Barreiro. First ranked host Barreirense (6-1) smashed 4th placed Estoril Basket (4-2) 90-64. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Estoril Basket. Barreirense forced 23 Estoril Basket turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 60.0 percentage. Barreirense looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for swingman Daniel Margarido (191-92) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Kenny Martin (208-93, college: Ark.-Fort Smith) helped adding 18 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side swingman Daniel Machado (190-90) responded with 19 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Barreirense have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place in Places 1-8 with 6-1 record. Estoril Basket at the other side keeps the fourth position with two games lost. Barreirense are looking forward to face Academico FC (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Estoril Basket will play against Benfica B (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Benfica B (#5) was upset in Esgueira by eighth ranked Esgueira / Oli 65-55. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Benfica B. It was an exceptional evening for guard Hugo Assuncao (180-87) who led the winners and scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Samuel Loio accounted for 4 points, 11 assists and 5 steals. Center Ricardo Monteiro (208-97) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for Benfica B in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Esgueira / Oli (2-5) moved-up to sixth place in Places 1-8. Benfica B at the other side keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Esgueira / Oli will play against higher ranked Terceira (#3) in Angra Heroismo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Benfica B will play on the road against Estoril Basket and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Academia (0-6) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their sixth consecutive match to leader Angrabasket (7-0) 85-73 on Saturday evening. Deshaunt Walker fired 31 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Angrabasket's coach Francisco Marques used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Carlos Tavares produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for lost side. Undefeated Angrabasket have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain ninth place in Places 9-16 with 7-0 record. Loser Academia still closes the standings with six games lost. Angrabasket will meet Fisica (#11) in the next round. Academia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Lisboa Belenenses CF.

Newly promoted team dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Dragon Force's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Porto to the arena Vasco.
The game in Porto was also quite interesting. Third ranked Terceira (5-1) played at the court of 7th ranked Vasco (1-6). Terceira managed to secure a 4-point victory 78-74 on Saturday. It was a great evening for Mohamed Camara who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 12 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Terceira moved-up to second place in Places 1-8, which they share with Dragon Force. Vasco lost their third game in a row. They keep the seventh position with six games lost. Terceira will face Esgueira / Oli (#6) on the road in the next round. Vasco's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Porto Dragon Force.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 7:
In Places 9-16 Sanjoanense lost to Fisica on the opponent's court 79-91. Guifoes unfortunately lost to Belenenses CF in a home game 51-54. Sangalhos managed to beat Ginasio on the road 65-61.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 30 points and 5 rebounds by Pedro Azevedo of Sanjoanense.

Places 1-8
Academico FC - Dragon Force 51-62

The game in was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Dragon Force (5-1) played at the court of 6th ranked Academico FC (1-6). Dragon Force defeated Academico FC 62-51. Dragon Force dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Academico FC's 20. They outrebounded Academico FC 40-28 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Cape Verdean center Kevin-Clay Gomes (209-95) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Power forward Diogo Araujo (201-97) contributed with 11 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Pedro Gouveia (192-94) answered with 9 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Francisco Albergaria (178-97) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Academico FC. This time Fisica used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from 91-79 on Saturday night. Fisica forced 20 Sanjoanense turnovers. It was a great evening for Nuno Monteiro (180-86) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points. Guard Miguel Salvador (187-81) helped adding 19 points and 4 steals. Four Fisica players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Pedro Azevedo (193-81) responded with 30 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and Swedish-American forward Elias Desport (203-92, college: St.Peter's) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds.
