There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Second Stage in LPB.

An exciting game was played in Porto. FC Porto Ferpinta faced Benfica. Host FC Porto Ferpinta (20-4) defeated guests from Benfica (18-6) 85-74. FC Porto Ferpinta dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Benfica's 34. The best player for the winners was Serbian power forward Sasa Borovnjak (206-89, college: Penn St., agency: 011 Sports) who scored 22 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). The former international swingman Jose Silva (194-89) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. American power forward Raven Barber (206, college: Mt.St.Mary's) produced 23 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. FC Porto Ferpinta is looking forward to face Illiabum (#6) in Ilhavo in the next round where they are favorite. Benfica will play on the road against Vitoria SC in Guimaraes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Barreiro was also worth to mention about. Vitoria SC (18-6) played at the court of Galitos-Barreiro (14-10). Vitoria SC managed to secure a 9-point victory 80-71. International forward Joao Guerreiro (205-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 7 rebounds. Joao Balseiro contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American-Saint Lucian forward Khyle Marshall (200-92, college: Butler, agency: Duran International) replied with 23 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for Galitos-Barreiro. Vitoria SC will play against Benfica (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Galitos-Barreiro will play against Oliveirense in Oliveira and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Ilhavo was also quite interesting. Oliveirense (18-6) played at the court of Illiabum (12-12). Oliveirense managed to secure a 5-point victory 74-69 on Friday. James Ellisor scored 22 points to lead the charge for the winners. Oliveirense's coach Ricardo Rodrigues used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Joao Figueiredo responded with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Oliveirense will meet at home Galitos-Barreiro (#5) in the next round. Illiabum will play against FC Porto Ferpinta and hope to secure a win.

In the last game of round 2 In Places 7-12 Maia Basket was defeated by Ovarense in a road game 68-61.
The best stats of 2nd round was 25 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals by Nick Novak of Ovarense.

International forward Joao Balseiro (192-87) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Vitoria SC players scored in double figures. American-Saint Lucian forward Khyle Marshall (200-92, college: Butler, agency: Duran International) replied with 23 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and naturalized Guinea-Bissau forward Josimar Cardoso (201-87) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Galitos-Barreiro. The former international point guard Joao Figueiredo (184-79) responded with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and power forward Rafael Wildner (207-92) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Oliveirense will meet at home Galitos-Barreiro (#5) in the next round. Illiabum will play against FC Porto Ferpinta and hope to secure a win.

There was no surprise when Maia Basket (4-20) was defeated on the road by Ovarense (13-11) 68-61 on Friday. Ovarense outrebounded Maia Basket 40-27 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. American point guard Nick Novak (182-90, college: Pitt-Johnstown) scored 25 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Kyle Anderson (190-93, college: Delaware) chipped in 15 points during the contest. Point guard Pedro Catarino (184-90) responded with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Troy Brewer (196-89, college: American) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Maia Basket's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Ovarense will meet at home CAB Madeira (#8) in the next round. Maia Basket will play against Sampaense in Coimbra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
