An interesting game for Terceira (7-1) which hosted in Angra Heroismo 4th placed Estoril Basket (4-4). Second ranked Terceira managed to get a 13-point victory 76-63. Terceira outrebounded Estoril Basket 40-27 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for naturalized Sao Tome and Principe center Ekjersey Viana (203-77) who led his team to a victory with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Serbian swingman Bogdan Riznic (202-90) contributed with 10 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Forward Sergio-Lugo Santos (198-92) answered with 13 points and 7 rebounds for Estoril Basket. Estoril Basket's coach Artur Cruz rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Terceira have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place in Places 1-8 with 7-1 record behind leader Barreirense. Estoril Basket lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with four games lost. Terceira are looking forward to face Benfica B (#5) in Lisboa in the next round. Estoril Basket will play at home against Dragon Force and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Academia is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to fifteenth ranked Guifoes (3-6) 73-66. Point guard Rodrigo Lima (183-98) stepped up and scored 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Paulo Ruge chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. Guifoes' coach Nuno Filipe Gomes Freitas used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Angolan forward Benedito Suca (196-84) with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Guifoes maintains fifteenth place in Places 9-16 with 3-6 record. Academia at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Guifoes will play against higher ranked Fisica (#10) in Torres Vedras in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Academia will play at home against Ginasio (#12) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

The best player for the winners was Kenny Martin who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Benfica B's coach Joao Tavares tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Barreirense have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of Places 1-8 leader. Benfica B at the other side keeps the fifth place with five games lost. Barreirense's next round opponent will be Vasco (#6) in Porto which should be theoretically an easy game. Benfica B will play at home against the league's second-placed Terceira and hope to win that game.
Twelfth-ranked Sangalhos (4-4) were very close to win a game against ninth ranked Angrabasket (8-1) on Saturday. Angrabasket managed to secure only two-point victory 100-98. However their fans expected easier game. It was a good game for Deshaunt Walker who led his team to a victory with 39 points (!!!), 7 assists and 4 steals. Angrabasket maintains ninth place in Places 9-16 with 8-1 record. Loser Sangalhos dropped to the thirteenth position with four games lost. Angrabasket will face Sanjoanense (#14) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Sangalhos will play against Belenenses CF and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 9:
In Places 1-8 Esgueira was beaten by Dragon Force on the road 69-65.
In Places 9-16 Belenenses CF lost to Fisica on its own court 72-78. Ginasio outscored Sanjoanense in Figueira da Foz 93-69.
The most impressive performance of 9th round was 25 points and 5 steals by Jose Torres of Belenenses CF.

Places 1-8
Academico FC - Vasco 59-64

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Dragon Force (6-2) beat 7th ranked Esgueira / Oli (2-7) in Porto 69-65 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Dragon Force forced 22 Esgueira / Oli turnovers. It was a good game for power forward Diogo Araujo (201-97) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Agenor Rolo (193-95) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Dragon Force players scored in double figures. Guard Samuel Loio (180-89) answered with 24 points and 4 assists and forward Guilherme Oliveira (193-97) added 14 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Esgueira / Oli. But Sanjoanense was not able to use a home court advantage and was rolled over by the opponent from Figueira da Foz 93-69 on Saturday night. Ginasio shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists.
