Their biggest opponent Alba Iulia (20-4) fell to third ranked ICIM Arad (20-3) in overtime by five points 67-72 on Saturday night. The game took place in Alba Iulia. But the guests from Arad were better at the end. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Alba Iulia. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Worth to mention a great performance of Stanecia Graham who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws). ICIM Arad have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Alba Iulia at the other side dropped to the third position with four games lost. ICIM Arad will face Craiova (#7) in Craiova in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Alba Iulia will play on the road against Rapid (#11) in Bucuresti.

In the last two games of round 25 Targoviste beat Targu Mures on the road 87-75. Timisoara lost to Satu Mare on its own court 59-76. Cluj Napoca was outscored by Sp.Studentesc in Bucuresti 71-94. Oradea was rolled over Alexandria at home 39-66. Brasov was crushed by Craiova on the opponent's court 79-33. Olimpia was beaten by Rapid in a home game 68-82.
The most impressive performance of 25th round was 26 points and 5 steals by Brandie Hoskins of Craiova.



Targu Mures - Targoviste 75-87

No shocking result in a game when first ranked CSM Targoviste (21-1) beat on the road 4th placed Targu Mures (17-5) 87-75 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by CSM Targoviste. Targu Mures was better in third quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. CSM Targoviste dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Targu Mures' 26 and made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. CSM Targoviste forced 27 Targu Mures turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Chrissy Givens (180-85, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 7 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). The former international swingman Paula Cristina Ciocan (183-82, college: S.Carolina, agency: Josep and Nicolas) contributed with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. CSM Targoviste's coach Florin Nini used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Cherrise Graham (170-82, agency: Merit Sports) answered with 25 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (made all of her seven free throws) and the other American import swingman Catherine Scanlon (180-83, college: Drexel) added 18 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Targu Mures. CSM Targoviste have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 21-1 record. Targu Mures at the other side keep the fourth position with five games lost. CSM Targoviste will face Iasi (#15) in Iasi in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Targu Mures will play on the road against Satu Mare (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked Timisoara's (12-10) home loss to seventh ranked Satu Mare (15-6) 59-76 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Satu Mare. Timisoara was better in third quarter 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Timisoara 42-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Shanika Freeman (183-83, college: Jacksonville St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. International forward Claudia Pop (185-89) contributed with 24 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Serbian center Nevena Saponjic (186-85) answered with 15 points and 9 rebounds and Serbian guard Biljana Pesovic (180-83) added 17 points in the effort for Timisoara. Satu Mare have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place. Timisoara at the other side keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. Cluj Napoca was better in second period 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sp.Studentesc looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Gaati Werema (183-88, college: Prairie View A&M) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds. Her fellow American import forward Odessa Williams (188-86, college: Longwood) contributed with 24 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Williams is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Sp.Studentesc players scored in double figures. Center Andreea Pop (180-90) answered with 22 points and 6 rebounds and center Adriana Pricop (181-74) added 14 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Cluj Napoca. Cluj Napoca's coach Florin Covaciu gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Sp.Studentesc maintains ninth place with 11-10 record. Cluj Napoca lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 17 games lost. Sp.Studentesc will face higher ranked Alexandria (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cluj Napoca will play against Timisoara (#8).

They dominated on the defensive end, holding Oradea to just 4 points in second quarter and to 9 points in first half. Alexandria dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Oradea's 22. Alexandria forced 26 Oradea turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian forward Maja Vucurovic (188-91) who helped to win the game recording 9 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.
