Energia Rovinari wins the battle for the playoffs! - Apr 1, 2012

With only 1 game left in the regular season, CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu wins the battle with BCM Pitesti and CSU Sibiu for the playoffs by winning a very important game at home against higher ranked BC Mures Targu-Mures. Even if Mures was up by 14 at one point and up by 7 before the 4th quarter Energia showed character and demonstrated one more time that they want to be in the playoffs . They worked hard , never gave up (like they usually do when they play at home having a great crowd behind them ) and came back to win the game and get the 8th seed for the playoffs.
Since Porter Troupe (196-G-83, agency: Strategic Sports, college: Portland) and Louis Darby (196-G-84, college: Long Beach St.) came back to the team Energia looked like a different team and in the last games Stefan Nikolic (192-G-87) played at a higher level as well. Porter Troupe finished the game with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals in 28 minutes of playing time, Louis Darby had 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and Stefan Nikolic came up big finishing with a double double: 23 points ( 5-7 from the 3 point line ) and 10 assists. The romanian wing Adrian Gutoaia (196-C-90, agency: Court Side) was great coming off the bench scoring 12 points and having 3 steals.
For the losing team Calvin Watson (197-G-85, agency: Court Side, college: N.Texas) was impressive with 28 points (4-6 from the 3 point line), Jason Forte (196-F-84, college: S.Mississippi) finished with 14 points and 7 rebounds and JuJuan Cooley (175-PG-82, college: Indiana Tech) had 11 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists.
Energia steped up on defensive end, dominating with 14 steals ( Mures had only 4 ), shared the ball better having almost double the assist Mures had (29 assists for Energia and 15 for Mures) and was supperior at the 3 point percentage finishing with 50% behind the arc ( 9-18 ).
This was a toug loss for Mures in their fight for a better place in the playoffs making them be on the 7th spot. A win could have made them be in the race for the 3rd seed which would have gave them the home court advantage in the playoffs.
