Baciu earned the team's Tiger Strength Award after his freshman and junior seasons. He gained 18 pounds from July of 2008 through the end of the 2008-09 season. He played at the Under 20 European Championships for his home country in the summer of 2007 and averaged 7.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game as the youngest member of Romania's team.
