Romania - As the 2012-2013 Season approaches, 5 Romanian clubs faced off against clubs from other Countries yesterday and took all 5 contests. Here are the results:
It's early for everyone here and abroad but by mid-September most teams are starting to get in season shape. The Romanian Cup will tip off on the 28th of September followed by the Romanian Season opens on the 6th of October.

The hosts trailed 2 points at the halftime but then erupted with 28-9 in the third period. Moreover the favorites added a 22-10 surge in the last stanza to seal the third straight victory. Radu Paliciuc (198-G/F-88) top-scored for the winners with 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Milos Petkovic (201-F/C-91, agency: Global Sports Plaza) posted 22. Ionut Hurjui replied with 17 points in defeat and Constantin Amarghioalei as well as Madalin Nicolae had 11 each. CS Concordia Chiajna meanwhile edged CSU Stiinta Bucuresti 93:77. Nemanja Petrovic (90) top-scored for the winners with 19 points and Vasile Stefan (192-F-85) had 12. Cosmin Barbu answered with 22 points and 10 boards in the losing effort. In another game CSU Galati outscored CS Vabova Sfntu Gheorghe 90:73.

Ploiesti advanced to the Final with a 85:72 win. The game was mostly controlled by Ploiesti. Oradea managed to win fourth quarter 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ploiesti forced 20 Oradea turnovers. 30 personal fouls committed by Oradea helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities [read more]

Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian power forward Vladimir Tica (208-81, agency: BeoExcell) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. Ghanian guard Alhaji Mohammed (192-81, college: Louisville, agency: Court Side) contributed with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Five Ploiesti players scored in double figures. Australian-Trinidad and Tobago swingman Daniel Dillon (194-86, college: Arizona) replied with 22 points and Serbian forward Zarko Comagic (201-85, college: N.Arizona) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Oradea. Gaz Metan was ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 29-17 charge of Targu Mures, which allowed them to win the game. Gaz Metan was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Montenegrin guard Branko Cuic (197-78) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 9 rebounds. Serbian guard Andrija Ciric (199-80, agency: BeoExcell) helped adding 27 points. The best for the losing side was American point guard Kyle Shiloh (191-85, college: Nevada) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import forward Deven Mitchell (197-84, agency: Interperformances) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds.
