The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with loss of the undefeated team, extra overtimes, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated U-Mobitelco (4-1) in Cluj on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by tenth ranked Ploiesti (3-2) in overtime 103-96. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of U-Mobitelco. U-Mobitelco was tied after three quarters and then recorded another tie at the end of regular time. They were eventually defeated in overtime 11-18s. Ploiesti shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. 31 personal fouls committed by U-Mobitelco helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Darius Hargrove (193-82, college: Virginia Union) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 6 assists. The former international center Catalin Burlacu (210-77, agency: Court Side) contributed with 18 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Ploiesti's coach Vladimir Arnautovic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Derek Wright (180-86, college: Austin Peay St.) answered with 24 points, 9 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for U-Mobitelco. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams. U-Mobitelco at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Ploiesti is looking forward to face higher ranked Oradea (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. U-Mobitelco will play against the league's leader Gaz Metan in Medias and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 5: Gaz Metan beat Rovinari on the road 73-59. Pitesti destroyed Miercurea Ciuc on its own court 88-67. Giurgiu unfortunately lost to Targu Mures in a road game 70-84. Winless Farul Const. recorded a loss to Craiova at home 68-85. CSU Sibiu crushed Dinamo B. on the opponent's court 89-58. Oradea was beaten by Timisoara in a home game 85-88. Timba Timis. lost to CSM Bucuresti on the road 84-91. Pitesti outscored Farul Const. on its own court 96-74. Gaz Metan rolled over Miercurea Ciuc in Medias 109-86.
The most impressive performance of 5th round was 31 points and 8 assists by Goran Martinic of CSM Bucuresti.

Gaz Metan led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Miercurea Ciuc (0-6) was smashed on the road by thirteenth ranked Pitesti (3-3) 88-67 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Pitesti. Miercurea Ciuc was better in fourth quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pitesti dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Miercurea Ciuc's 42. Pitesti forced 21 Miercurea Ciuc turnovers. Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked Targu Mures and 4th placed Giurgiu had identical 3-1 record.
